@@mikeconley9590 I've always liked them too, and the white water lily, the white, they use to call it fragrant water lily, I don't know why they changed the name.
@@mikeconley9590 Mike thanks for sharing that description of your pond. I used to enjoy a pond when younger and see the l illies pop open when the sun came out. Having fish right there is great.. Now I'm a senior and miss that..

Love this informative video. Thank you. I have this lotus near by and going to forage soon. I am trying to make a video but I have to go with a friend 😊💛🍀
In Buddhism, the lotus symbolizes wisdom and purity. Just as a lotus grows out from stagnant mud, but is not sullied by the faults of mud, so with wisdom you can be pure and in union with the living cosmos.
Great information. I go kayaking a lot and see this flower everywhere. I had no clue The Roots /rhizomes get that large. I found it extremely fascinating that the flowers explode to disburse its seeds. That was really cool to learn.
amazing quality videotography and editting ,just adds such lushness and added ambience to the stoytelling of the wisdom of the purest lifeforms of this awe inspiring kingdom!
Yes we have popped the seeds, they don't look like popcorn full exploded after roasting, but the seed does look like unpopped popcorn and does taste like popcorn - think "corn nuts"! Yummy! The root maybe edible but tastes like swamp;(
Thanks Yarrow, we have a 14 acre pond at our place full of pond lilies...I know the muskrats like them in the early winter...they drag them up on to the partially frozen pond and eat them. So I may have to try some myself.
What a great video covering this native lily. I didn't even know about this lily until I saw your video. I'm always reading and hearing about non-native water plants that can become invasive where this lily sort of knows it's familiar place. Thanks!
Love your site Dude! Been eating wild forage for 30 years! We are doing our part by eating our way through the invasive Garlic Mustard here in the quiet corner of CT.
I was wondering if there's a natural remedy for circulation in my legs and feet I've had back surgery and I know that's part of it and I've always been very limber and I still am I wonder if I should try yoga or if there's natural things I can try I'm already taking vinegar and turmeric
it depends. have you had fusion? hardware? laminectomy? fracture? you need the ok to start anything, from your surgeon. he should have told you restrictions, such as, only walk, only so much bending etc..surgery when? when dr says youve healed enough, I sure would start back with yoga since you seem to know it if you can practice within strict attention to limiting any pain numbness or tingling..but theres ots of different yoga and levels. it may take you a year or never if youve had fusion to do certain backbends or twists, lets say... meanwhile Near infrared lights may help you heal quicker and help circulation and energize mitochondria... along with raising feet above heart throughout day to help venous return to heart, ankle circles calf raises so use skeletal pump, massage. you SHOULD have had some physical therapy prescribed and a good PT can help you work back to former activities

@@rnkim2564 I can only go on what info Ali has provided. It is up to her to then use her best judgement as to what is best for her :) I have a question regarding my 78yr-old father: he broke his femur back in May and has spent 6weeks in hospital, 3 of them in a rehabilitation hospital; he's been out a week now, and with all the covid lockdown going on here (Sydney, Aust.) he isn't doing the walking he was doing in hospital. Nurses were also concerned about his lack of water intake - something I've been trying to get him to take more seriously for yrs. Any suggestions would be warmly welcomed.
Really amazing that you use every part of the plant and seem to know it so well , out of interest , What are the effects of smoking it? Dont think it grows here in the uk.

These are all over the ponds where I canoe during the summer. How do I go about harvesting them from an easily capsizable boat?
Does this leaf in the pond help fight midges too?
Is it better to harvest the rhizome in the fall for the chi to be more concentrated there?

Does Pink & white pond lilies have same properties of yellow pond lily? Are they equally safe?
Species name Lutea means yellow, so I guess only the yellow ones.

try tai chi and consider consulting a corrective chiropractor to see if they can offer some relief.
