The info about people who set a little softer was very helpful. I primarily kayak fish and if I go after a set I may end up in the water! Thank you for all you do.
At a certain point, having extra rods helps more with being able to quickly switch your presentation without retying. When I think to myself it would be nice to have another rod, it leans more to just having more lures on lines at the same time rather than having the perfect rod for that lure.
I think of it like golfing . You don’t have 1 or 2 clubs , each one has a purpose. And if you have a fish miss a topwater it’s good to have another rod ready to throw a different bait ( jig or Senko ) right back at that spot
I started using speed clips. I switch baits a lot. I have one spinning set up and one casting. Just bought another casting reel and trying to figure out if I want a MH moderate rod. I have a MH fast.
Great video man. 4 super universal rods. I know this is just casting rods but, Add a 7 ft medium spinning rod in there and boom, you can do it all. Perfect 5 rod set up for a bass angler just getting started or anyone really for that matter. Good job man.
I've got 2 mh rods. One in a 7ft and one in the 7'6". Both are fast. One is for the senko, precision targets up close the other being the 7'6" for the little extra distance for similar lures but also for the slightly heavier lures in the same spectrum 1/2oz to 1oz and the shorter is for the 3/8oz to 1/2oz just for what I like fishing. And short rod gets 12-14lb fluoro or mono and the larger length gets 15lb fluoro or 30lb braid. Both rods have 7.5 gear ratio reels. Since I'm a bank angler and places I fish near me doesn't really have that heavy mats of vegitation for me to be using heavier line and rods. So it all works for me personally and my hook sets. Plus I'm 5'3" so the little extra length helps me for alot of different fishing applications.
So I think I’m pretty well capped out on all rods/reels. I personally have 1 spinner (I never really use it as I’m in Florida so I don’t use much finesse) and like 8 baitcasters. I have a chatter bait rod, fluk/senko rod, crank bait rod, top water rod, swim bait/jig rod, speed worm rod, lipless rod and a few others. I’m at the point now where I have all categories covered for what I fish with. In the future I may look into BFS style setups just to throw tiny cranks for peacock bass.
Another great video with tons of clear easy to follow information. I don't comment on a lot of videos (on any channel) but i must say I have really enjoyed your video's and hope you keep it up! I am new to fishing and I fish from a Kayak. I have learned a ton from you and the vids! Thanks!
Awesome as as always. So glad your in the northeast. Puts more in perspective with what i do for fishing in Pa. Thanks for keeping straight forward explanations. Peace. E
I've done that for years and years with great success. Just changing the reel speed and line can easily make a rod do something completely different. My 7.3 MH fast rods can be my deep cranking rods, my frog rods, my jig rods and spinnerbait/bladed jig rods, all depends what line I'm putting on.
@@Jackson-dw3zn I bring 3 rods with me and then keep 2 extra reels in my bag. This way if I wanna switch to braid or mono i swap out the reel I’m using with a reel in my bag.
This is certainly wonderful channel low brow by most standards, which I believe is a good thing too much hype surrounding our sport these days that being said the materials, easy to digest and it’s good material, quality tips and techniques. My only issue was with tackle warehouse everything I go there to buy is sold out no matter when I go there. I’ve got onto your channel over a year ago and I’ve been trying to support through the process of picking up more gear, which, as we know, anglers love to do that being said, it seems over the last year hardly anything at all that I’m interested in or that you recommend is still in stock total frustration any advice would be helpful. Thank you again for your grace.
I have a Quantum smoke rod and a Quantum smoke S3 reel will hold 8 to 65 pound. The line weight for the rod is 8 to 17 pound test line. I tried 20 pound braid test on the rod except it didn't help in the casting. The rod has micro line guides. Any fishing line higher than 17 pound doesn't cast very well. The rod and reel is nice and lite for fishing all day long
Baitcaster I have can handle lite line very well. Softbaits I can cast a long distance to the island on the Nashwaak River. Using heavier bait I have to slow the bait down before it lands on the island. Using heavier lines I can't cast as far using soft baits. Having a rod with micro guides slow down heavier lines than regular guides. I live in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. If you want to do a search on my city on the map it has the Nashwaak River that flows into the Saint John River with the island and a bridge that crosses over the Nashwaak and the island
Love your videos. I just watched this newer video and am curious as to why a year ago you did a similar video where you were hot on the Okuma TCS baitcasters. Are these newer ones any better or different in some way?
Great video Tyler! That's pretty much the same conclusion I have come to myself over the past couple years that I have gotten back into bass fishing between great information from you, tyler's reel fishing Randy Blaukatt, and few others in finally starting to pick things up lol
Great video………. But, I can’t change the line every time I want to switch techniques. Tyler, in your opinion, what line would be good for everything? Do you recommend braid to leader for everything? I fish out of a kayak and I only use 3 bait casters and 1 spinning. Love the channel. 🙌
I use the same. 3 casting rods and 1 spinning rod. 1. 15 lb fluoro 2. 17 lbs fluoro 3. 30-50 braid And 20lb braid on the spinning rod. This pretty much covers everything for me.
I’m primarily a bank angler so I use braid if I’m trying to get the most use out of a rod because I can always change leaders. The only time I use straight Flourocarbon is on my Crankbait rod
Personally I have 2 baitcast set ups with 20-30lb test braid, 1 with 50 (the heavy stick) and I just attached a different leader depending on what lure I’m using. For my 1 spinning rod I usually go straight fluorocarbon, 8lb test
Thanks for the info Ty. I have a question sir, I am purchasing a Kayak this year, do you suggest staying with the same lengths? Again thanks for the great content. Be safe
Hey Tyler, thanks for the video. I feel like you always have super informative content, but can still make it basic enough for newer anglers. With that, do you have a rod of choice if you could only have one topwater rod? Like one you could use for frogs as well as buzzbaits and walking baits? And I know you mentioned possibly doing a spinning rod video down the road. I would enjoy that one as well and I feel like it's a little more of a simpler topic. Appreciate the content as always!
You talk about changing line based on what you're throwing, do you keep different reels prestrung or swap spools is there a good all around option for us who can only dedicate one reel to a rod and fish it with the line it's stung with
I've spoiled myself with a rod for every technique and because I have limited storage on my boat I rotate my gear guessing what techniques might work , this burned me last December when we went to Chickamauga and found out there was still a frog bite , frog rod left at home lol
Great video man. I love your videos, you have taught me so much. Cant let my wife see this video because i tell her i need a rod for each lure I use lol. I would kill to fish with you.

Just gotta get a little creative, I fit 7”4 rods no prob in my early 00s forester lol and they’re not in any body’s way as long as I don’t try to put anyone in the back middle seat, used to even carry an 8 footer in there
People who set the hook like it's a boxing match is the reason I just pulled a 2.7 out of my hometown lake with at least a inch of ripped lip . It's actually sad considering they still have to live and function after the release and a lot of time the extra strong hook set isn't necessary
