    Thanks for posting this - reviews on the reusable pods are, ahem, very mixed so I was interested to see them in action.
    I don't say it's perfect, but Dolce Gusto UK does a 'free' recycling system, whereby they provide double sealing, strong plastic bags (I know) and a label you print out for sending your used pods to the recycler. Further info on their website.
    In my opinion there is still some work to do in the design of these reusable pods. I applaud those who persevere, but for me they are too messy and fiddly in their current form.

      I recorded that when I was living in Qatar, and now I live in the Philippines, neither place has got the recycling program yet. I agree it is a little fiddly at first but I make my coffee really quickly now and enjoy experiment with locally grown coffees too (Baraka Coffees). I agree cleaning up is a little messy but for me the trade off is worth it. Thanks for the comment though - well appreciated

    This video for instructions for Dolce Gusto are the ones I wanted to find, and the reusable coffee pods because of many of those pods go to landfills although i think you can take the Dolce Gusto ones to be recycled.

    I have just purchased this machine and the reusable coffee pods, using freshly ground coffee i have followed all the instructions but still the water comes out all in different places and leaves half the amount of coffee on the table, plus the crema is not as good as the packet of pods you buy, i really want to be responsible for my waste so any advice would be appreciated thanks

    • @PeterDraper108
      @PeterDraper108  3 года назад

      all I can advise is make sure the coffee is well tamped down and that the lid is closed tightly, there should be a small rubber ring in the lid that forms a seal.... I hope it works for you, I am enjoying trying different coffees in my machine

    Hi Peter. Very nice video, well done. I am after some reusable pods myself at the moment. I just wanted to point out one thing: the aluminium filter on those sounds pretty dodgy to me. I would take it out and replace it with a paper or cloth filter, or look for alternatives that do not have aluminium inside. Aluminium has been linked to Alzheimer's, Crohn's, MS and whole host of other terrible diseases. There is enough of it in other things already, along with many other heavy metals. I am trying to avoid them as much as possible.

    I use one in work for having filter coffee I took my old dolce gusto into work does the job well for me but you won’t get quite the flavour you wouldn’t using ground coffee in a french press or moka pot but it’s not far off far better than drinking horrible instant coffee in work

    • @PeterDraper108
      @PeterDraper108  3 года назад

      sorry that you seem to be having trouble, not all of these reusable capsules are made equally, my 2nd set seem to be from a different manufacturer and don't leave as much crema on the surface of the coffee. All I can suggest is experimenting with the grind (I find number 5 works best) and making sure that you tamp the coffee down hard in the capsule this makes it a little harder for the water to push through and should give you stronger coffee. I hope this helps a little... and thanks for watching the video

      @@williammurray4884 by pure coincidence, after making hundreds of coffees with a reusable pod mine got stuck too. WARNING!!!! I am not a Dulce GUSTO tech, but I took a THIN kitchen knife and inserted it into the gap between the removable tray and the machine. What had happened is that the lid of the pod had not been pushed down to make a seal and had risen during the brewing preventing the tray from being removed. I managed to push the pod lid down enough to remove the tray again. My machine now works perfectly again,
