my friend has this very same puzzle...the fact that neither you nor him were able to pull it apart by force using the same strategy you used to build it did not prevent me from doing it...it required some force but the puzzle fell apart and the pieces did not broke, so I guess I can say I solved it, right?
My father made one of these for me in about 1955. I loved it. I still have it somewhere. It has been around for a long time. However, if you soak the assembled puzzle in water a little while it is impossible to take it apart until it dries out. I was given the puzzle while the wood was still green, and it took a couple of weeks for it to dry enough to be disassembled. Whoever taught dad to make it had also told him it was traditionally given while the pieces were green or after the puzzle had been soaked in water to make the pieces swell.
This is an simple but interesting variation on the classic 6-piece star puzzle, which is disassembled and reassembled exactly the same way, but here, the solution is not as obvious, I think. Either way, very pretty. I like these puzzles as decorations for a desk or bookshelf, too.
I remember this puzzle, I bought it back in 2005 when I'm on vacation to Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It's pretty cheap, it's about 7500 IDR at that time ($0.7) I bought it in some street vendor in Malioboro.
Dude, i have this!(don't know where it is now) i remember the parts being like that, and i used to play with them, not knowing it was a puzzle to begin with. I was still around 5-8 years old then ok, i didn't know
I know this video is 4 years old, but i hope you see my note. This puzzle can be taken apart quickly by spinning it like a top. The centrifugal force opens it immediately. And it's fun to do it that way. Impresses many people.
I use to play with it in my childhood. Honestly that's the only 1 puzzle i am aware of among all your puzzles. Hats off to u. Great fan.. Keep posting.
Last night l was tired but not able to sleep so l decided to face this puzzle that l bought a week ago. With the help of this video I was able to disassemble it, tough it was not easy for me but anyway l learnt the trick. Surprisingly it was easier for me assembling it back by putting piece by piece together following a symmetrical way. Fitting the last piece was the hardest part because one needs to open the puzzle with five pieces already done but avoiding to make it fall apart. Practice makes perfect. Thank you.
Lol. They make little plastic versions of this only it's hollow. I use to have them when I was a kid. It's cool to see the adult version of this puzzle.
The way that you approach these puzzles, to me are awesome. I especially enjoy the reasoning you explain how you figure it out. In my mind it's an example of how to figure out most difficult situations. Use a combination of trial and error with deductive reasoning. Witch I find really useful in everyday life. Thank you for all of your time and effort to make these videos. Honestly I really like/appreciate your work.
I have a similar puzzle which is pretty much the same except two of the pieces are indented and a third one slides in and out. It's much easier and the first thing you tried to put it back together is pretty much the solution.
It's funny to see how I got as frustrated as you when reassembling the puzzle. But instead of doing mirror morphs, I added them one by one, and eventually, got stuck again by the missing piece. I forced and it stuck in. Reassembled it anyway 🤷♀️
I disassembled it and then watched your video and was surprised how much more force I needed, I def had to do some more "tugs" before it came loose. Just posting in case it helps someone else
enjoyed this one. classic and simple. haven't seen these at any Christmas markets where I'm from that I can recall, but I'll keep a look out for them this year.
Mr.Puzzle you should check out this puzzle if you can. I've spent hours on it and haven't completed it. It reminds me of the inside cubs you did a while ago. its aimed for kids but still a lot of fun. www.walmart.com/ip/Spin-Master-Games-Perplexus-Epic-Game/27127034?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=285&adid=22222222228019230682&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=45289637192&wl4=pla-88658662352&wl5=9009695&wl6=&wl7=9009681&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=111838799&wl11=online&wl12=27127034&wl13=&veh=sem
Apparently the one that I bought is not as good a quality as your's. It came shrink wrapped and as soon as I took off the plastic wrap it fell apart completely!! I was totally dumbfounded because I did not have any time at all to spend examining it before being disassembled. I spent over an hour trying to figure out how to put it back together and the solution I came up with was the one you showed as the first example and had to squeeze the heck out of it to get it back together. It was frustrating because that last piece would be incredibly tight to fit in and it would all fall apart again. Finally I was able to get it back together. After watching your video I will attempt to take it apart again and assemble it the easy way. LOL! Thanks for this video!!
The 3 part solution is really nice and all and I also use that but you can also put in one piece last. Instead of holding it in your hands you just have to put the puzzle down.
That was my second guess. First guess was that you'd push the pieces inward towards each other and that would loosen the puzzle just enough to take it apart. Cool video!
I think everyone can solve puzzles. The time needed does not matter. What keeps a lot of people from doing it is that you really need to think and concentrate.
I've actually completed one of those without looking up, and I felt damn proud about it. But my pussle wasn't as tight, so I could pull it apart the way it was assembled without any real effort
You should probably try to let the viewers see the puzzle better when you assemble it, and explain the process better too. I had this problem when watching the video.
Mr.Puzzle but it would show us how your mind works. like when you are confused what you think up to do personally to me it would be cool may be not to a lot of people you could edit it to show the parts you like but anyway its just an idea
I came across one of your videos a while ago but life got in the way and I couldn't watch them all. I rectified that over the past couple of days. I never knew there were as many puzzles of the type you solve. Love the videos. I just wondered, do you have a Patreon where people can support you?
I have one similar to that, but after not playing with it for like a year, I got bored one day and went back to it and it seems no matter what I did the friction part just never worked. I tried squishing all the parts together as tight as I could but the slightly wiggle of any single part just collapses the whole thing. it's like it forgot it was suppose to be held together.
Empty Empty, I'd love to hear you speak... lol. I'm sure we all sound stupid to someone out there. Be nice. He is German. I'm thankful he does it in English and not German. I love the puzzles. BTW... you would love my southern US accent. I give single syllable words at least 3 syllables lol.
🤔 Hmmm true true.. Maybe though the middle would cool slower cause of science, and unseen magical forces creating the friction breakdown?! 😮 orrrrr we could put it in liquid nitrogen and "accidentally" drop it on the table for a one time solution haha.😨
Interesting that they call it a football/soccer ball, since it isn’t in the shape people typically associate with a football, which is a truncated icosahedron. Of course, the name isn’t actually wrong, because there are footballs, both old and new, that are in this family of shapes. Matt Parker (standupmaths) has a video about football shapes on his channel.
Easier than the giraffe.
everything is easier than the giraffe.
That's not true. Giraffe puzzle is impossible to solve
Luigi , the Giraffe took me 3 weeks, and I hated doing it.
A Puzzle is a Puzzle and the Giraffe is the Giraffe.
LOL
Nice meme
No because you assemble the giraffe puzzle like a regular picture puzzle.
I wonder how many people bought this for it's aesthetics and never knew it was a puzzle and that it could be taken apart :)
That's possible! 😂
GBatT
why?
I actually own one and play with it and the others daily
my friend has this very same puzzle...the fact that neither you nor him were able to pull it apart by force using the same strategy you used to build it did not prevent me from doing it...it required some force but the puzzle fell apart and the pieces did not broke, so I guess I can say I solved it, right?
I guess, YES! 😉
ThePulmentinum break*
yup, my bad ^^'
Gordian Knot!
ThePulmentinum on the other bamboo puzzles I just throw them on the ground XD

seems like assembling these puzzles back is more tedious than taking it apart
That's right.
A lot of them are harder to reassemble.
Mr.Puzzle welches war das schwerste puzzle was du jemals gelöst hast? die giraffe?
2 in 1 puzzle, can use to play with Sepak Takraw.
You feet would really suffer. It's hard like a stone.
thought so, I guess. as always, keep it up with good videos and puzzles. love from Malaysia

Yes they can also be used as design objects.
Haben Sie auch Puzzle-Rezensionen auf deutsch? Es wäre eine gute Übung sein.
I have one of those made from red/blue/yellow plastic. It's probably over 50 years old by now.
LadyTigerLily kannst du auch mal deutsch reden?
Jawohl, aber ich bin etwas aus der Übung. :)
I remember this puzzle, I bought it back in 2005 when I'm on vacation to Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It's pretty cheap, it's about 7500 IDR at that time ($0.7) I bought it in some street vendor in Malioboro.

I had the same puzzle I like instantly took it apart and put it back together easily
What I'd like to know is how people come up with puzzles.
My cat jumped at the Monitor LIKE FOR NO REASON
I am sure she hab a good reason 😂
How dare you question a cat's motives? :')
I know this video is 4 years old, but i hope you see my note. This puzzle can be taken apart quickly by spinning it like a top. The centrifugal force opens it immediately. And it's fun to do it that way. Impresses many people.
I think my cat likes you. She jumped up and laid on me and watched the video with me. She never lays on me. I nearly died of happiness.
Hahahaha, that made my day! :D
It made my life! My cat never shows affection.
you rock mr puzzle
✌
He does, under one condition
We used to have something similar in the 90's, but they were tiny and made of plastic.
Back to wood these days! :)
I'm really looking forward to April 1st, 2018 :)
Colin Leroy why? Isnt that today?
Numair Javaid 2018
From the future here, April 1st 2018 (Easter AND April Fools) is almost upon us.
Hey, this is Fireblaster from the future and i am pleased to say that today is 1 April 2018!!! Happy April Fools day!!!
Wow, I totally expected this to be a pretty difficult burr puzzle, but that's a nice trick!
devjock I have this puzzle, but I figured it out wayy quicker.. like 3-4 minutes or even less
devjock Aron Burr!
yeah it looks hard but he found a simple way to do it
but devjock i can figure this out on half a second
hammer
I use to play with it in my childhood. Honestly that's the only 1 puzzle i am aware of among all your puzzles. Hats off to u. Great fan.. Keep posting.

had this when I was 8. I looked at for about two minutes, and finished it after 7 minutes
I have a similar puzzle which is pretty much the same except two of the pieces are indented and a third one slides in and out. It's much easier and the first thing you tried to put it back together is pretty much the solution.
The giraffe one is still my favourite
I thought this was some kind of biscuit thingy xD
Base Form Gogeta You don't exist. Why did you come out of fusion as a Super Saiyan? You think you're too good for base form?
i had one exactly like this when i was a kid, but it was made in plastic and was considered a "toy", not a puzzle.
I didn't even realize this was meant to be a puzzle. I just always took it apart and put it together when I was bored.
😂👍
i had one of those, but one of the pieces was flat, without jagged edges, so you just need to push it side to side.
And thus soccer in Asia uses this ball
*Football
It's funny to see how I got as frustrated as you when reassembling the puzzle. But instead of doing mirror morphs, I added them one by one, and eventually, got stuck again by the missing piece.
I forced and it stuck in.
Reassembled it anyway 🤷♀️
The giraffe puzzle got me here 😂 you got a new sub 👍🏼
Welcome to my channel!
I have several variants of these in different shapes, and universally they don't ever seem to hold back together well after their first disassembly.
There was a smaller plastic version of this a while back.
I disassembled it and then watched your video and was surprised how much more force I needed, I def had to do some more "tugs" before it came loose. Just posting in case it helps someone else
I'm glad these videos came up on my recommendation list
It looks like another puzzle I had so I knew how to immediately solve it
That thing is just cool looking. Seems to me the real puzzle is reassembly.
It is not too difficult in general but can be used as a design object.
@@Mr.Puzzle I have been trying to pull it apart for ages it just doesnt wanna fall apart please help
To disassemble: burn it. You win!
To reassemble: reverse time. You win!
i use to get plastic ones out of the quarter machine
i cant do anything....this is terror
Does simply tossing it with a spin not take it apart? I had a puzzle like this when i was young and that worked well
With this one it does not work.
The one I have doesnt have that tight fit by far, I am impressed
enjoyed this one. classic and simple. haven't seen these at any Christmas markets where I'm from that I can recall, but I'll keep a look out for them this year.
👍Let me know if you found one!
but will it get looser over time?
Depends on how big your fingers are
Never heard it called a soccer ball but I've already done that puzzle before. Rather easy one.
That is such a cool puzzle
I have the same puzzle, but it's smaller and more blocky
I did this puzzle a while ago, it wasnthe same exact one but a recreation of it, it took me about 5 or 10 mins but was really fun to do
I agree, it's not the most difficult puzzle but the idea is brilliant.
Mr.Puzzle you should check out this puzzle if you can. I've spent hours on it and haven't completed it. It reminds me of the inside cubs you did a while ago. its aimed for kids but still a lot of fun.

I was given this one as a child over 20 years ago, I took it with me everywhere! I had a completely different solution+assembly though.
One of my teachers had this and I figured it out in about 15 minutes. I was so proud of myself
I have one of those but mine usually falls apart from just holding it in your hand. It doesn't have that much friction.
That makes it much more easy I guess. 😃
you should try the hannayama quartet
Requested a few times now. Got it here already.
I will do it during the next week's. 👍
99% sure that's a football 1% sure it's a soccerball
Thanks!!! I just had it for years! Now my wife and I we did it!
I usually pull it apart the same way you reassembled. You grip the opposing clusters and pull apart, and voila ♥
The 3 part solution is really nice and all and I also use that but you can also put in one piece last. Instead of holding it in your hands you just have to put the puzzle down.
i have a puzzle that works exactly like this. but instead it makes a Star shape instead of a football shape. It's also a very old puzzle.
There are many variants of this puzzle. It's a real classic.
That was my second guess. First guess was that you'd push the pieces inward towards each other and that would loosen the puzzle just enough to take it apart.
Cool video!
Very beautiful version of this puzzle! recently purchased one very similar but different colors!
Actually it is a very cheap version. If you look at the link it is about 5$ - 7$.
nice!
It looks as if it is made nicely.
Do you think it's natural talent or practice that makes solving these puzzles somewhat do-able
I think everyone can solve puzzles. The time needed does not matter.
What keeps a lot of people from doing it is that you really need to think and concentrate.
You can easily break apart the puzzle by simply throwing it up in the air
I've actually completed one of those without looking up, and I felt damn proud about it.
But my pussle wasn't as tight, so I could pull it apart the way it was assembled without any real effort
You should probably try to let the viewers see the puzzle better when you assemble it, and explain the process better too. I had this problem when watching the video.
I used to have a vintage version of this same puzzle, but it is made out of plastic
In love with ur vids 👌🏼
I love your videos! Keep up the great work! 👍I personally love puzzles, I just wish I could think the way you do 😜
Thanks a lot!
There will be more for sure! 😀
i watch these to go to sleep
Maricelis Costa me to
honey bunches same lol!
is there any puzzle that no matter how hard you try could not ever figure it out? I think that would be a cool video
I think that would be a very boring video, since I am a veeeery patient guy.
Mr.Puzzle but it would show us how your mind works. like when you are confused what you think up to do personally to me it would be cool may be not to a lot of people you could edit it to show the parts you like but anyway its just an idea
I owned one of these a long time ago.. but lost the pieces and never found them
I came across one of your videos a while ago but life got in the way and I couldn't watch them all. I rectified that over the past couple of days. I never knew there were as many puzzles of the type you solve. Love the videos. I just wondered, do you have a Patreon where people can support you?
So far I do not have a Patreaon channel.
I am not sure what special content I should add there.
Try mixing the parts
did you say pur--chased ,holy shit that fucking hilarious
Empty Empty, I'd love to hear you speak... lol. I'm sure we all sound stupid to someone out there. Be nice. He is German. I'm thankful he does it in English and not German. I love the puzzles. BTW... you would love my southern US accent. I give single syllable words at least 3 syllables lol.
I'm middle eastern and I was able to change my retarded third world accent pretty quickly
Anyone else get some slight ASMR vibes from this?
2:17 A Michael Bay film
i still havent solved the girrafe puzzle!!! i need help! the pieces wont fit whatever i do!
Hi! Mine doesn't move at all… I am just hurting my fingers… What can I do to unlock it?
I don't know why but this particular puzzle reminds me of a dog treat......
Ty for the ASMR
That reminds me of that wooden star puzzle but this one is a ball instead.
love your channel
I remember when I mess up this puzzles and i don't know how to fix it 😂😂😂
Thank you
I bought this puzzle when I was a kid. And then I can't assemble it back to a ball. Hahaha
thank you
You and Novitrisch have the exact same accent and you both sound the same
I had a very similar puzzle but it was a star shape
my teacher had that one but it looked like a diamond shape but made of wood
1. Put puzzle in freezer, 2. Let wood contract, 3. Come back to solved puzzle 4. Profit! =method #2.. ~Use oven for reassemble solution~ ;)
Would that really help?
All pieces would contract the same way. ;)
🤔 Hmmm true true.. Maybe though the middle would cool slower cause of science, and unseen magical forces creating the friction breakdown?! 😮 orrrrr we could put it in liquid nitrogen and "accidentally" drop it on the table for a one time solution haha.😨
this is harder than uderstanding life
This design looks like the apple from Assassin's Creed, Yes?! And the fact that it's made from wood is most interesting.
in malaysia we not call bambo soccer ball,we call bola takraw.
Bola takraw uses rotan. Not bamboo.
ibrahim hussin *ebola takraw
That is a very interesting puzzle.
Mr Puzzle is Low-key Dr Egg man
i actually have hade this puzzle since i was 8
Interesting that they call it a football/soccer ball, since it isn’t in the shape people typically associate with a football, which is a truncated icosahedron. Matt Parker (standupmaths) has a video about football shapes on his channel.
Solved it in the first 5 seconds of the video. Beat that
Another very interesting video!
I think Mr. Puzzle was a bit tired this day. I teresting puzzle though. I like the wood and color laminations.
