Some people (most) have forgotten what this channel is about. Cars and also people, people who like cars. Its interesting to see things like this, it provokes thought. Its so saddening to see so many mean spirited comments. This guy loves his car and that is cool.
I'm coming from a stock G35 coupe. Back in the day the forums told us about these "sleeper" V6 Rav4s! So if the average G35 6sp did 14.0 @100ish can totally believe this guy! Plus you get Toyota reliability haha.
I live in Ojai, Ca., and my V6 RAV4 is perfect for the windy, mountain roads that surround the Ojai Valley (think Hwy 33 and to a lesser extent, Hwy 150). Mine is an 07 I inherited from my mother. It had 4k miles on it when I got it in 2016. It now has 48k miles. I’d love to slap some mods on it, but why? It hypercruises at 80 on the freeway at 2500 rpm’s.
jaysplace01 this car is not a 13 sec car it weighs 3,600 lbs and probably only make 10 hp more over stock because of that hot air intake. That would make this car .7 seconds faster than a TL types that makes 286 HP stock and is 300 pounds lighter. There is no way this thing is 13 sec car more like high 14s maybe.

That's the problem, Matt is also way too nice. When Blaze said "This will take out an sti" and you can see Matt just casually laughs it off. Matt has really mastered the art of ignoring Bullshit. I can see the pain in his eyes (behind those Dillons ofc)
Don't quite know about the owners claims of 13.5 for the quarter. In saying that, I am not inferring that it isn't rapid for an unassuming non turbo V6.
Wow people here actually defending the guy saying it can 'easily" run 13's with 270hp... Bruhhh AWD, beefy drive train, slushbox tranny, 3600lbs curb weight. Nope... Math says no. If he thinks hes getting 300hp even at the crank with a hot air intake and an exhaust then he is smoking himself.
yeah this kid is an example of what is wrong with many youth car enthusiasts - get moms grocery getter, slap on some Home Depot garbage that makes it loud, and then they say they have 500hp and beat Mustangs all day. Sad.
Nice duct tape intake.. if this is all it takes to get on a one take im going to put some super sports on my jeep cherokee xj and tell matt ive beat an srt8
The interviewer uses the wrong descriptions/words like: quite funny, this toyota makes me laugh etc. he needs to use the right words on how to describe things or else he sounds like proud and funny to me.
The "Diff lock" isn't a diff locker. What that button does is lock the "limited slip transfer case". Basically, the car is front wheel drive until it detects slipage in the front wheels which will then send power to the back wheels through its limited slip tranfer case. Btw the "tranfer case" is technically also the front differential. However, if you wanted to give power to the back wheels, you can press the button and the car essentially becomes a 4x4 up until 25mph with a 55/45 power ratio front/back. So it's not really a diff locker, I wish. I have a 2009 Rav4 Limited V6 4WD, it's awesome but at one point I also thought it was a diff locker lol. Mine, has custom dual exhaust, 2 inch lift kit with bilstien shocks, thicker springs in the rear for added payload limit, cold air intake, higher output coil pack with iridium spark plugs and a modded intake manifold that allows more air in. I also added 245/65/17 all terrain cooper tires with 17x8 rims with a 20mm offset which pusges the wheels out just below the fender for a perfect fit a a nice wide stance. Rear fender is wider than front so I added a 3/4 inch wheel spacer adapter which made it just perfect. Overall, it's quite fast and impressive to be honest. It's faster than my Focus ST and I'm very impressed with this vehicle. I bought the vehicle for 10k and all those upgrades were 4k so yeah, it was also way cheaper than my Focus ST and it looks amazing, very unique and tasteful.
To all the kids who don't know.. That is 100% faster and definitely handles better then a stock forester xt, wrx, or legacy gt.. I've owned or driven everyone of them at some point myself too, Idk about an sti but from a roll he'd definitely keep up if not win depending on the situation. just by watching the video I think it'd launch better w no brake boost but who knows
Look at the smile on Matt's face, y'all. Anybody shitting on this car just doesn't fucking get it. This video was WAY more interesting than the last 10 porsches or mustangs. It's EASY to make a fast car go faster. Make a vanilla soccer-mom crossover go faster and you have my attention. Flame on...
If he had slapped one of the Tacoma supercharger kits on it, I would feel better about his chances with a STI. If he likes it, I can't fault him though, to each his own.
I know! I got a MDX SH-AWD and it's a blast to plow through corners but the more nimble RDX is known to be faster and even better in the corners! Just wanted to see an apples to apples comparison between Crossovers. I got no doubt the RL would also be a good candidate for this, Shit any car with SH-AWD is bound to be pretty darn good in the corners.
zacatecas: Weight has never been an issue on the RDX.. It needed more power which can be obtained due to the conservative tune in the Turbo Engine, With mods it can reach 300whp! which makes it really really fast. In typical Honda fashion The suspension is Over-Sprung, Acura chose a great tune for the Shocks and Sways which keeps body roll to a minimum add SH-AWD and you have one of the most neutral feeling Crossovers in the Market. It will destroy many crossovers that cost 2x-3x the Price in the Corners completely Stock and once modded it will rape most of them in a Drag.
It's cool seeing different stuff, and it's not trashed, so good for him. But when he said "this thing will take out an STi", my eyes almost rolled out of my head.
Glad to be a part of your RAV4 project! Definitely a bad ass sleeper :) You forgot one thing......the shout out to First State Motorsports for the install and customer intercooler setup ;) haha
When the v6 RAV4 was developed, the Japanese car makers had a gentleman’s agreement to limit hp to 268 (they use the PS unit, which would be 300 at 268 hp). I have an 07 Limited, and my ass Dyno says it’s more than 268 hp as advertised. It’s no joke. Especially after 2500 rpm. Having said that, it’s obvious to me Toyota used software to tame the thing down a bit, or it could be even quicker.
dont wanna be that guy but that diff lock button is for the center diff to send power to front and rear 50-50 this rav4 has the brake lock actuated differential which means the brakes will only put pressure to the wheels that are spinning to make all four wheels spin at about the same speed like a fake locking differential but still really good. badass rav4 though i belive the 13.5 ive seen stock rav4s run 13.9-14.0 but im at see level a lot of people say no way but it also depends on where they live
The RAV4, first generation, second generation and third generation are awesome. The last good RAV4 with the spare tire on the back and the big square headlights on the front. The third generation RAV4 are really fast even stock. And cool looking too especially when they have custom rims on them.
Everyone is skeptical as to whether or not this could compete with an STI at the strip. The Rav4 Sport V6 AWD from 2008-2013 did 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds. Toyota (being toyota) never advertises the performance of their vehicles. i.e. The 2006, 07, & '08 Toyota Corolla XRS was sold in the U.S. with a 1.8 liter I4 co-developed with Lotus pushing out 180hp at 7600 RPM and was made available with a 6 speed manual only as opposed to the 5 speed used in other trims or 4 speed auto at 2500lbs that Corolla XRS was on par with a Civic SI or Mini Cooper S performance wise yet was never once marketed as such. I believe in 2009 they still offered the 6 speed XRS except this time with a traditional corolla powerplant: 2.4 Liter I4 pushing around 150 hp or so at a less exciting 6200 rpm or so. Yet, it had more body work and - gasp - red badges! And actually looked the part contrary to the previous, worlds better XRS. So yes, it the stock 2008-2013 Rav4 Sport AWD V6 could get 13.9 stock then I absolutely believe with Michelin Pilot Super Sports, aftermarket forged wheels and 'full bolt ons' is easily capable of beating a stock evo or STI in a drag race. Has anyone met an sti owner?! Anything could happen lol.
What year STI though? Forrester STI? Was it healthy? How good a driver? If the answer to these 4 questions line up right, then yes. He probably did take out an STI.
This guy doesn't even begin to understand what potential a 2GRFE engine has and many don't know that it is the engine that replaced the 2jz line up..... he'd be surpised to know how much it can give an STI a hard time.... he's underestimating these rav4s....
Mini Motor Man doesn't matter if it was stock. The car doesn't need to be a big deal with be on this show. The V6 rav-4 is no more so this is a special car for sure. Last time I checked their actually quick too
They are decently quick for that generation, and will still take out most 4 & 6 cyl suv's. 0-60 time is 6.3 and mid to high 14's for the awd. Our 2007 fwd did a 15.1@93.9, which I believe is similar to a new Forester XT .

i bet they are. sucks we have a 25 year law here in US before we can import. Even then it's not guaranteed that we can register it legally depending on the state.
If you want to disable all nannies except ABS you need to pull over and leave your finger on the TSC button for a few seconds, both stability control and traction control will turn off, and then you can lock the center diff and do some donuts in the snow with 55/45 front rear distribution no problem no intrusion.

They bought it new and now it has 200k miles with ZERO problems. Still drives like it did new. Gotta love Toyota. Too bad they ditched the V6.
That's awesome, owner of this rav4 looking back I would of done everything but just made it much quieter.
269 HP stock. My mom has one, very respectable HP numbers for a small SUV. Definitely a sleeper!
If you're the owner wanting to talk about the car, you can forget getting a word in edgewise.
Ikr lol
13 second car lmao wtf is this guy smoking
benwilli 270hp and awd bone stock they aren't slow he probably is close to 300 so I can believe 13.5
+BB-8
YESSSS!!!
lol of course not he probably has other shit that helps
jaysplace01 this car is not a 13 sec car it weighs 3,600 lbs and probably only make 10 hp more over stock because of that hot air intake. That would make this car .7 seconds faster than a TL types that makes 286 HP stock and is 300 pounds lighter. There is no way this thing is 13 sec car more like high 14s maybe.
bone stock is mid 14's so ill say low 14's instead of 13.5. its also AWD so that helps with acceleration and the TL type S is FWD
269 horse! I say 270 with me driving 😂
No Bull, If I had a nickel for every time I hit 150 mph! Love the wait for the cat n mouse players that finally pull up!
Makes me want to replace the motor someday with the lotus w/blower.
These things were famously fast for cheapo SUVs, I think it's an extremely interesting modification this guy has done! Hats off.
No way that can beat an sti.
No way.
Matt Hardy not even a wrx. I know because my mother I law has a rav4 and I have a 17 wrx and there is no way this car can beat any wrx of any year lol
Maybe an older, beat-up STI
Carson Ogden even the 04 sti's made more power and weighed less so i doubt it
Emphasis on the beat-up part. So many STIs around where I live are in garbage condition
probably was a 4 cylinder rav. i have a 2010 V6 rav limited, basic weight reduction, cheap exhaust and intake, and it can take out my friends 2006 wrx. easily.
Awesome video. You were smiling for the majority of it.
An everyday car that's different.
The button locks the "center" Its for low speed slippery conditions, so the front tires dont need to slip first to engage AWD.
Get blaze some Dillon optics, then slap em' off his face! I haven't cringed so much since the camaro with three brakes. lol
barrybarreh Matt's running out of content and has to review these shitty cars now.
Bruhhh
AWD, beefy drive train, slushbox tranny, 3600lbs curb weight.
Sad.
FINALLY! I've been waiting ALL YEAR to hear about Matt's million mile man spheres
I am content
I love that hot air intake!!!
Love when oddball cars come in . I barely even watch the videos, the comments are the most entertaining.
I agree with that
I love it when the owner truely loves his car
Everytime i need to search something thats unique im sure this channel always got me!
This is nice, with that being said, this is my moms favorite SUV.
It's cool that this was reviewed. Not all can have a monster powered car. Let the kid enjoy
Do all car owner guests get a complementary ball powder bag and breathable underwear?
Keksi the Labrador I have a one take where I'm taking my Corolla a month from now.... I sure hope so lol
Hadn’t thought about that lol
I had the 2002 Rav4 and that was a blast to drive! its like a super fast go kart lol. Took corners like a champ.
Somebody has to test out an Acura RDX Turbo with SH-AWD ASAP....
I really want to see a 2005 rl build. That Thing would be fun to see semi-stripped and built.
skirmich 07 rdx can slolom at 70mph 240hp 260lbft turbo+vtec what a monster
I feel dude. I've taken an RDX to a mountain road once. I was blown way.
zacatecas:
Weight has never been an issue on the RDX..
I have a 2012 Rav4 V6 and yeah man..... it rips!! I love mine. Swallows the mountain bike and any car parts I have to throw in it.
I will say it does sound pretty damn good. impressive stuff from a Rav4
That's what I want-- maybe a 2012-- V-6 (that's the best of the last years of V-6 ) and see about a supercharger.. :)
How is it the best year? Same engine and transmission anyway? What update does it have?
It's cool seeing different stuff, and it's not trashed, so good for him. But when he said "this thing will take out an STi", my eyes almost rolled out of my head.
Glad to be a part of your RAV4 project! Definitely a bad ass sleeper :) You forgot one thing......the shout out to First State Motorsports for the install and customer intercooler setup ;) haha
pushing 300hp? he blazin!
Tommy Kim ya his hot air intake gives him 30hp. Lol
Rediscover Film You mean the hot air outtake 😆
I mean t was about 270hp stock, he’s probably just super rounding up
When the v6 RAV4 was developed, the Japanese car makers had a gentleman’s agreement to limit hp to 268 (they use the PS unit, which would be 300 at 268 hp). I have an 07 Limited, and my ass Dyno says it’s more than 268 hp as advertised. It’s no joke. Especially after 2500 rpm. Having said that, it’s obvious to me Toyota used software to tame the thing down a bit, or it could be even quicker.
The look on his face when Matt tells him "if you beat an STi, it's because the owner did something wrong" ctfuuuuu
Someone with an older RAV4 with a Gen4 3SGTE swap needs to visit Matt.
dont wanna be that guy but that diff lock button is for the center diff to send power to front and rear 50-50 this rav4 has the brake lock actuated differential which means the brakes will only put pressure to the wheels that are spinning to make all four wheels spin at about the same speed like a fake locking differential but still really good. badass rav4 though i belive the 13.5 ive seen stock rav4s run 13.9-14.0 but im at see level a lot of people say no way but it also depends on where they live
Any chance of a one take on your vanquish?
Geoff Jaycubs he doesn't want you to see how softly he treats his cars
I own a TRD FJ Cruiser, its a Tank, but it can really hall ass, I think it runs about 6.8 0/60s, not bad considering I bought it for offloading.
Danny Murphy the 2.4 xrs is a 5 speed
What year STI though? Forrester STI? Was it healthy? How good a driver? If the answer to these 4 questions line up right, then yes. He probably did take out an STI.
This guy doesn't even begin to understand what potential a 2GRFE engine has and many don't know that it is the engine that replaced the 2jz line up..... he'd be surpised to know how much it can give an STI a hard time.... he's underestimating these rav4s....
The sad part is that only the 3rd gen has that :( neither the 4th and 5th grn has those capabilities.
But idc cuz im a happy owner of a 3rd gen Rav4😎
Absolutely nailed the handshake!
To the owner: if you bring your car here to Colorado, Bandimere speedway, and you run 14.5 or better (elevation considered) I'll give you $5000
sabretechv2 take you $5000 and buy your momma a houzz
If he wins the $5,000 he'll do an ECU tune and then it will run 9's in the 1/4
he runs 13.5, so he might
The v6 is a beast. You cant explain it, you just have to drive one.
270 hp stock. Yeah I put a hot air intake and an exhaust probably pushing 300 now 😂😂😂 this guy
I had the same thoughts lmao
Great Sleeper SUV.
The V6 rav-4 is a great. Lower it add sticky tires great little fun SUV with a strong motor. Just wish the 2gr had more mods.
So this guy puts an exhaust and tyres on a Rav4 and that's it? So what?
yeah sometimes you need to realize what you have and just live with it. This guy is like trying to turn a canoe into a speedboat...just no.
I don't mind if he's trying to make a land yacht quick, but come on, anyone can buy an exhaust and tyres...
Mini Motor Man doesn't matter if it was stock. The car doesn't need to be a big deal with be on this show.
The V6 rav-4 is no more so this is a special car for sure. Last time I checked their actually quick too
it is not special, sorry. It was a very competent Wal-Mart hauler, but performance machine worthy of performance parts it is not.
Hey, there's a long tradition of making mundane daily drivers go faster. A 300bhp AWD wagon is fun. We're probably talking BMW 540i performance.
They are decently quick for that generation, and will still take out most 4 & 6 cyl suv's. 0-60 time is 6.3 and mid to high 14's for the awd. Our 2007 fwd did a 15.1@93.9, which I believe is similar to a new Forester XT .
Didn't you have a ZL1 1LE vid posted last night? What happened to it?!?
I was wondering the same thing.
Life just handed me a Rav 4. My lady's dad just passed so here we go mod'n! Lexus es330 635 csi and Rav! I'm doing alright. Lady drives a '14 Crv. We good!
13.5 quarter... Bullshit
tj323i he says it beats an STi, yeah right. Nice duct tape intake dood.
tj323i Stock Rav4 V6's will run low 14's.
Oh, I believe it! I have an 07 RAV4 V6 I inherited from my mom. It's an absolute rocket! I was skeptical at first, perhaps a little humiliated to be in it. But not for long! That engine is a beast. Rated at 268 hp, but it feels like more.
tj323i it's only bullshit because you kno nothing about Toyota engines lmfaoo.
tj323i did you see how hard that thing launches? I was suprised and i believe 13.5 maybe more like high thirteen 14 flat
Mr. Blazed must be puffing the good stuff the way he talks about how fast this car is.
"What is this stock, 270?" "Yeah, so we're probably pushing 3"
OoooOOOoOOkay dude
I love SHEATH Underwear personally. Cool to see you advertising for them.
Buddy said he "took out" an sti lol shots fired!
Where to find this amazing front lights?
It’s the Rav4 EV light with theee projectors, impossible to find new. They go for $400 for one on eBay. Check your local junkyard.
That video was awesome. You should do more modified crossovers. I wanna see a stage 2 apr awd tiguan.
This guy sure loves his Rav. Even has the special edition duct tape intake. Good for him.
"It does 13.5 in the quarter?!"
"Yep, at 100." *Nodding like it's a 7 second GTR*
I'll tell you what
Low key have always loved this body style rav4, especially with the sport trim
Imagine RAV4 with mid 90's celica GT4 drivetrain-MT. That would be a beast.
lorenzo5123 Toyota Caldina GT4
WOW! i never knew the caldina had a GT4 version. WE never get the awesome cars the rest of the world gets. stupid regulations and restrictions!
lorenzo5123 they are awesome, i imported mine from japan here in Australia.
i bet they are. sucks we have a 25 year law here in US before we can import.
I love how the owner does an Oscar worthy throw back for the "launches". I think he gave himself whiplash the second time.
The odd ball videos are the best ones, who would possibly not watch them all the way through?
