I brought my 2010 V6 base 5 years ago for $8k. A steal looking back now. I could probably sell it now for close to that. I’m up to 180k miles. It still purrs on the highway. No plans to get rid of anytime soon. Yeah, the throttle does take some getting used too. It’s touchy. The car just wants to go.

I put a new aftermarket touch screen radio in (left stock speakers) and put a Summit Racing electric butterfly valve cutout right after the cat and I think it sounds crazy good. I have a 2010 rav4 limited but not only the 4 cylinder. When I was shopping for a Rav4, I wasn't even aware that they even offered a 6 cylinder in these cars. Though I wish I had more power in my Rav4, I still love my car.
I recently got a 2007 V6 Sport and I love it. Currently working on murdering it out because mine is black. You make a great point about them being practical.
Just subscribed. Saw you on Redline video with soyfen really enjoyed the collaboration of you two. Hopefully see more of that in the future. I had a 2007 rav 4 for 10 years best vehicle I ever had. Will tell you more later. Will check out your other videos. Chat later.
I have a 3rd gen Rav4. It’s a 2010 Sport 4 cylinder. It’s a good car. Pretty reliable, however I do wish I had a V6. The power on the I4 is a little low for my liking. Overall it’s an amazing car and the space inside is better than anything else. Such a good car and I plan on buying another once I’m done with this one.
I'm on the hunt for one of these. I have a 2009 Highlander with the same engine. I'm a huge fan of the 2GR-FE. I can only imagine how quick it must be in a little vehicle like this.
Excellent video. I'm a proud owner of two, borh with the V6. They feel very sporty behind and are quite quick. Pyrite Mica is definitely the nicest color on these.
your mom has the one I want.. that color looks pretty nice and I definitely want the full size spare on the back, leather steering wheel and V6 motor. they're faster than most cars and plenty comfortable. I would keep the cushy suspension and just add a thicker rear sway bar and maybe increase the negative camber.. try to get a slight bit of oversteer going.
Walmart can polish your headlight to look almost new. My 2023 RAV4 hybrid gets about 41mpg town and highway combined. Dealership ship recommended a oil change every 10,000 miles. But I rather get a oil change every 5,000 miles.
2006 rav4 sports ~247,000 miles had since new. Cabin noise louder than other cars. I put a back up cam in mine tied to the mirror. I put a scan tool to find the auto lock but cant find it. Only found to change the dome light and other lighs to change the seconds.
My wife’s car. It’s a damn good car really is. The worst thing about it is the seats are like sitting on legos… and we drive from ca. to Vegas once a year. It’s a long 8 hours. But it’s got the power you need and the mpg. V6 4wd when need. Great space not a bad looking car. It’s just a good car.
@@damilolaakanni well it was mentioned in the video that this was the fastest Toyota at the time. The Camry V6 is quicker to 60 by at least half a second.
@@M67v actually, the v6 rav4 goes 0-60 in 6.2s and the v6 Camry goes 0-60 in 6.5s. Awd vs fwd makes a huge difference, and the Camry only weighs 200lb or so less than the rav4. Slap some enkei rpf-1 and take out the back seats in the rav4 and you’ve basically got the same weight car.
Your body roll is from those tall tires you put on it. We still have our Rav4 V6, but we have shorter side wall tires and it corners really good with little body roll. And ours is pretty fast because of the short wall tires.
Its so funny how you gave her a name!!! We have an 09 rav4 sport v6 not only it growls but its really fast we clocked 5.3 seconds 0 to 60… and its all stock it also its 4x4 so thats why its even quicker and she hits like a bull when accelerating
I just got one. 4 cyl but still great. I agree on it being really touchy especially after driving a prius and hybrid camry for the longest time. Going back to a non hybrid vehicle is definetly a change of pace.
I have a 2007 v6 rav4 sport, love it. I bought it for $4K at auction, but it was in rough shape and needed a lot of work. I recently replaced suspension to OEM kyb struts, but it still a bit bouncy on holes, need to figure out how to fix that. other than that, love the car, it drives really nice, fast acceleration with the V6
I have a 2AZ-FE Rav4 and let me just say that even the 2.4L oil burner Rav4's are vastly superior to any Honda CRV. 3rd Gen Rav4's can pretty much handle what ever you throw at it. And I have dogged mine to hell and back. I can only imagine how much of a dream the V6 is to drive.
Hey! Thanks for sharing! You have the most enjoyable Rav4 reviews on RUclips, probably! Great personality, too! I remember watching your oroginal review around 18 months ago and it influenced me to buy my V6 Rav4 in Vietnam where I reside now. So thanks again! 🥳 I was wondering would a 235/70r17 fit without rubbing and modifications? I wish to soften the ride and the noise levels a bit. We have rough roads over here, unfortunately... Also, does you back seat rattle on their tracks when driving on rougher surfaces?
I have the most powerful version of the rav4 in the UK, it’s a 2008 RAV4 sr180, 2,2 diesel with 180bhp and 400nm, gets 35mpg and has lots of power , love it to bits but probably doesn’t have the reliability of the v6 or even the d4d diesel. Driving it over to the alps on Friday though ◡̈
Just finished driving across the country, after flying out to the west coast to buy a low mileage 2010 V6 and bring it home to replace my current 07, which is at 240,000 and rusting to death. This was after spending two months test-driving every possible competitor, including the current 5th gen RAV4. Nothing came close to giving me what I have with my old RAV4, so I went online and found another one. I'm hoping this one lasts at least another decade, so I can put off having to buy one of today's overcomplicated, underpowered, and overly expensive infotainment boxes. In the last year I also bought a 2013 Land Cruiser and a 2019 GX460, so I'm accumulating a whole driveway full of older, better Toyotas. My neighbors are starting to refer to my driveway as Toyota Nation... BTW, my '10 is the same pyrite mica as yours, but that was deliberate on my part, as my '07 is the Limited white, the paint of which has been peeling off in sheets for the past several years. Toyota has a TSB on this for every model with this paint color, but oddly, it doesn't start until 2008. So in my search, I wanted anything BUT white this time.
I've had 2 of these. An 08 Rav4 V6 Sport and a 2011 V6 Limited. The Sport model was a lot more uncomfortable to drive on the road because of its stiff suspension. Thing I hated most about both cars was the road noise and the really bare bones interior. Wind noise was bad and the stock radio is truly awful. I switched out the head units to a relatively high end Kenwood system, but it made no difference with the horrible stock speakers. Reliability in these cars is somewhat overrated in my opinion. I had oxygen sensors go out in both cars at 100k miles. But in fairness, those were very easy to replace myself, and cheap. in the Sport, the AC compressor went out at about 105k miles. That was a $1000 repair I wasn't happy about. The thing I liked about both cars was the V6 obviously, and the exceptional interior space. I had a tow hitch on the Sport and it towed like a champ. Regardless, I personally dont think they're worth the hefty price tag I see them listed for. And I would also say that most buyers should bypass a 3rd gen Rav4 all together and just buy a 2013-2014 model, even though they discontinued the V6. Yes, I love the V6 power, but unless you're going to tow with it, the 4th gen Rav4 is vastly, vastly more modern feeling and comfortable to drive than the 3rd gen. And they're probably cheaper too.
ALWAYS go LED in headlights. Yes, you'll pay more but your mom's safety is worth it. I have two cars with ALL LED lighting and will have it from now on - or whatever the better thing is in the future!

I bought my RAV4 brand new in 2007. The acceleration is still awesome. However, I (and many other owners) have spent lots of money trying to get the Check Engine, 4WD, and SVC lights on the dash to go off and stay off. So far I've spent $1,200 and still no luck. There are so many sensors that can go bad. People have to shot gun things and hope they get lucky and find the defective part. Even a defective gas cap can cause the problem. When the lights are on, the cruise control doesn't work and the SUV stays in the 4WD mode. I need cruise but don't know if I want to spend more money chasing the problem. Some people have spent over $3,000 and still can't find the problem. I used to praise Toyota but not anymore. When this particular problem occurs, the RAV4 becomes a money pit. Toyota won't address the issue. It's as if they don't give a damn.
Well everything you just said can be said about any modern-ish vehicle… My 12’ RAV4 has almost 300,000 miles and zero issues, not a difficult thing to accomplish with these if you have a clue about anything. Find a decent mechanic and they will tell you what’s wrong with it. $3,000 chasing down a check engine light? I don’t really buy it, someone’s lying or has no business working on any vehicle. Or both 🤷🏼♂️
I still have my Sports model of 2010 RAV4. Really like the acceleration. The only disappointments are the sound system and the low capacity of the gas tank. CD player stopped working - unable to "suck" any CD into the compartment.

I have a 2007 Rav4 V6 Sport AWD with a leaking front differential. It's not leaking from the axel seals but it is leaking at the pinion seal from the driveshaft going to the rear differential and I'm told they have to remove the whole Engine, Transmission, Differential to fix? What do you think?
Great review! Looking into getting one too but I would just like to ask, which one would you choose and why? 2009 RAV4 or the 2009 CRV? I'm from the Philippines and their at the same price range at the marketplace. Thanks so much!

I have a question. I'm eyeing a 2009 Rav 4 Limited for $8,500... but it has 250,000 miles. In your opinion if you were me, would you buy it or pay that much for it?
I have a 2011 sport 3.5 w/153,000 miles on it.. runs great no issues but reg maintenance, no rust at all (I live 25 min outside of Chicago) and I put a pioneer head unit with CarPlay.. also sound deadened the doors and changed the stock speakers to JL Audio.
I just aquired my moms old v6 rav 4 from 2009 and its a beast offroad and i know someone who has 315,000 miles and tows a trailer for with it and hasnt changed any parts from stock stock fuel pump everything except the water pump wich is the only bad maintinence item on these cars its expensive and hastle to change . My mom replaced the rav4 with a brand new non turbo forster and its kinda trash it feels like a toy on the highway like the steering is overly sensitive on purpose with tow in angle to the front tires or somthing, it has a good indivdual wheel torque vectoring awd but with no power to do a donut and it feels liek less then 200 horsrpower with the cvt, and no ground clearance and no solid axles its only good for onroad snowy hills and im pretty sure the old.rav4 can handle any snowy montain roads, ive seen a slow motion video of how it torque vetors power to keep it from spining to the rear in like an inch of movemrnt you cant feel anything engage in the snow its amazing. One other thing i wanted to bring up tho on the rav 4 that i leanred from almost geting stuck in mud is you need to hold the tractipn control off for like 10 seconds then you get another light that comes up on the dash and that fuly disenggages stability control and traction and most importantly wont auto put traction back on when it spining in mud. Andd you can get it to drift alittle with thr stability control disabled.
Now i watched a little more of your video i see you brought up its main competitor as the forester but i dont think you know about the awesome kia sportages 4 cylonder turbo 260 horsepower like 3500ish pounds awd with locking rear dif button and came in a manual! And theyrr much cheaprr then these v6 ravs
Is it worth it to get a 09 with i think 41,000 for 5000 it's my grandparents car, and my grandfather really only used it for groceries and bringing deer to a waystation in hunting season I don't even know if it's a V-6 or the four-cylinder it's always in the garage but it's the goldish color and if I did buy how much do you think I could resell it for

I have a 2010 rav4 limited but not only the 4 cylinder. When I was shopping for a Rav4, I wasn't even aware that they even offered a 6 cylinder in these cars. Though I wish I had more power in my Rav4, I still love my car.
Nice, still a great vehicle with the 2.5!
V6 is hard to find.
I recently got a 2007 V6 Sport and I love it. Currently working on murdering it out because mine is black. You make a great point about them being practical.
Nice!! Yeah they’re so useful
Just subscribed. Saw you on Redline video with soyfen really enjoyed the collaboration of you two. Hopefully see more of that in the future. I had a 2007 rav 4 for 10 years best vehicle I ever had. Will tell you more later. Will check out your other videos. Chat later.
Thanks for stopping by!!
my 2009 2.5 has gone up in price and I have had her over 2 years :)
Nice!!!
Also the new finish on the wheels and the new tires look great!
Thank you!! Nice. Yeah the V6 is a huge upgrade from the 2.5!
True but the good thing is generally speaking a 4 cylinder is easier to work on and less things to break so mechanics would still recommend that
I had an 01 Tacoma and I painted the wheels gunmetal. Such a great choice and it goes with so many colors
Nice! Yeah gunmetal is definitely my favorite wheel color
I'm on the hunt for one of these. I have a 2009 Highlander with the same engine. I'm a huge fan of the 2GR-FE. I can only imagine how quick it must be in a little vehicle like this.
They're little rockets!!
Excellent video. I'm a proud owner of two, borh with the V6. They feel very sporty behind and are quite quick. Pyrite Mica is definitely the nicest color on these.
Couldn't agree more!!
Just bought a used 2007 Limited v6 two days ago runs like new with 197000 mi
Nice!
your mom has the one I want.. that color looks pretty nice and I definitely want the full size spare on the back, leather steering wheel and V6 motor. they're faster than most cars and plenty comfortable. I would keep the cushy suspension and just add a thicker rear sway bar and maybe increase the negative camber.. try to get a slight bit of oversteer going.
Nice! That sounds like a good plan, I hope you can get into one one day!
My goodness, a trooper! Nice. Damn, yeah I wish they had auto locks man!
One day I still hope to purchase one of these with the 3rd Row
Very good!
I agree! Hard as a rock lol
I just bought one
Nice!!
Great review. I was just telling my coworker about they’d cars.
They're excellent! Thank you!
These are pretty quick (can confirm) but V6 Camrys are quicker
Oh yeah for sure
Obviously, they're lighter.
But it can’t tow 3,500 pounds
Makes sense, these are just not performance tires at all haha. For my mom, I prefer the thicker sidewall for a slightly comfier ride
Great update!
Thank you!
We had a 2011, and the wife thought the hatch was too heavy to open and close. Steering is over boosted, but we come from Miatas and an X3.
It is heavy! No strut to help too. Yeah they are a little sensitive in terms of steering and throttle!
I want one!
They’re such good little SUVs!!!
I've had one since new, now looking to upgrade since it's just getting old. Nothing wrong with it except TPMS light.
That's great!
Its so funny how you gave her a name!!! We have an 09 rav4 sport v6 not only it growls but its really fast we clocked 5.3 seconds 0 to 60… and its all stock it also its 4x4 so thats why its even quicker and she hits like a bull when accelerating
Haha yes! 😂 very nice I hope you continue to enjoy your RAV!!
Hey I have the projector headlights from ebay they make mine looks really good and more modern
Ohh nice I'll definitely have to buy them!
I just got one. 4 cyl but still great. I agree on it being really touchy especially after driving a prius and hybrid camry for the longest time. Going back to a non hybrid vehicle is definetly a change of pace.
It certainly is a different experience! Enjoy it!
better gas mileage yet 4wd capable.... I find it better
You’ll need to pull the bumper to install new headlights
Ahhhhh
I have a 2007 v6 rav4 sport, love it. I bought it for $4K at auction, but it was in rough shape and needed a lot of work. I recently replaced suspension to OEM kyb struts, but it still a bit bouncy on holes, need to figure out how to fix that. other than that, love the car, it drives really nice, fast acceleration with the V6
Nice! Good restoration! Control arms would do a big difference!
I like the colour you chose for the wheels.
Thank you! Not too dark!
I was wondering would a 235/70r17 fit without rubbing and modifications? I wish to soften the ride and the noise levels a bit. We have rough roads over here, unfortunately...
Also, does you back seat rattle on their tracks when driving on rougher surfaces?
Ahhh thank you!! I appreciate that 😁
I think 235/70 may rub, you may need wheel spacers!
They rattle a little bit!
Ohh nice, I'd love to drive a diesel RAV4
Nice! Great find. What a cool fleet!
I’m looking for one now since I’m giving my Jeep to my sister
Oh nice, I wish you luck!
I have the 2011 V6 Sport "Appearance Package" with still under 98k miles. My wife wants to sell it for something newer, but I don't want to lol.
Hell no! That thing will run forever! Don't sell it!
Absolutely! Already running LED’s!
Please don't, the other drivers on the road are blinded by people that do this. The reflector housings are not designed for LED's.
@@9ZERO6 Exactly, You should never just change out the bulbs as the projection patterns will be completely wrong and likely illegal too.
@@9ZERO6 You have to replace the complete assembly designed for LED
I have a third row seats in my RAV4 its latest 2012 but 2.5 lit i wish to swap 3.5 sooo much
and trust me third ro seats is not small at all i had two 17 yo boys on third seats and they were kinda comforted
Oh yeah I’m sure it’s tiny haha
@@BernonCars I think its usable for kids but im thankful that i can collapse it and use it for trunk as much as its is in 2 row cars
Dang Skippy "they're "made outta gold".. Recently sold my 2004 (198k miles) V8 4runner Ltd with xreas for $7500. Purchase it back in 2016 for 9500 with 131k. She was a very nice ride..
Nice, what you get to replace it?
@@BernonCars Replaced her with a 2019 1794 4x4 Tundra. Picked it up in May 30th 2020 for 42k OTD. Yes, was used but only 3month old with 2700 miles. I do have my original 1996 Toyota 4runner 4x4 with the locker. 172k on her.
If only this got the version w the 6 speed😫😫
Right it would be PERFECT!
Ohh my, yeah sensors galore. So annoying. I hope you can either get out of it or have it fixed for good soon
Well everything you just said can be said about any modern-ish vehicle…
My 12’ RAV4 has almost 300,000 miles and zero issues, not a difficult thing to accomplish with these if you have a clue about anything.
Nice, ahhhh that’s annoying! I’ve had to take apart a car CD player to get a disk out once, haha
just change the stereo for the cd player
I put in a Sony double din unit and I also have Bluetooth...
Can you share how you painted the wheels gunmetal and the products.
Add a sprint booster and it does 0 - 60 in 5.5 secs
Damn good upgrade!
I have a 2012 rav4 limited,it has auto door locks,I love this thing! At 65,it"s the best vehicle,I"ve ever owned,Yea,it"s a little noisy, ride is a little choppy, gas pedal is touchy.Of course that type of rig is gonna be a choppy ride (short wheelbase, stiff suspension.Hit the gas,it moves! mileage is decent! Compare it to a gm vehicle,no comparison.
Interesting!! Good to know.
Yes they are lovable cars!!
Nice friendly, informative video.
Do you think my 6'6" son will fit in it as the driver?
Thankd.
Thanks.
Thank you! I think so! The drivers seat slides back pretty far, but a bit tight
can only hope toyota to make a great car like this one again... but is it true 4WD? or it's actually AWD like later RAV4 models?
Right, these are just AWD as they use a viscous coupling to distribute power
I have 2011 but don't have 3rd row seat
I'm trying to decide between the older models and 2015 or later which do you recommend
I like these more! They feel more fun to drive and less "cheeap"
Great review! Looking into getting one too but I would just like to ask, which one would you choose and why? 2009 RAV4 or the 2009 CRV? I'm from the Philippines and their at the same price range at the marketplace. Thanks so much!
Thank you! Hmm, you can’t go wrong with either honestly. Probably the CRV because its a bit more comfortable
Hey Bern! What ended up being the biggest tire you could fit on the rav? thanks in advance!
Hey! We're running 235/65/17 on ours!

Any updates on the RAV4 V6 vs RAV4 Prime drag race?
Sadly Sofyan got rid of his Prime! I gotta find another one
What was the original Tyre size that came with the RAV4.
I believe it was 225/45/17!
There's one for sale around my house but it's red and 13,400 think it's a bit pricey but I got my eye on it 😂
Don't like the red , prefer black grey or white 😆
Ohh yeah, a hot car! 😂 pricey indeed, how many miles?

i have the same car but a 2012 base model if you do buy a apple carplay with a backup camera which one would you buy so i can also buy it for this car appreciate if you can answer also awesome video. would be also awesome if you make a video installing one

Is the Rav 4 a good car as your first? And how is the gas consumption?
Yeah I would say so! And the gas tank isn't huge so they aren't too expensive to fill!

I have a question.
I'm eyeing a 2009 Rav 4 Limited for $8,500... but it has 250,000 miles.
In your opinion if you were me, would you buy it or pay that much for it?
Oh, and thank you for both reviews.
Ive got one with 367k kms, but so much wind noise and tire noise above 50km. Any tips to reduce it?
Interesting! I would recommend installing sound deadening material to the ceiling and floors but that requires taking the interior apart!
What about the rust? is there anything rusty needed to be replaced? Can you exchange the cd player with a navigation screen? Thanks
Nice, yeah the Kia’s are def cheaper! They will just blow up soon after 😂
