I really love how you have taken the video. The shots have depth and character with shadow, shapes, perspective, vibrant colours, perfect reflection. Artistic video-making 👍🏽👍🏽You were at the right spot, the right time, capturing the boat coming up the river, with the church in the middle of the background - wow! Indeed, very interesting activities you did this time - pressing the C the other way :) Happy early 50th birthday, BTW 🎉🎂
Welcome back Darren. Hope you enjoy your visit this time around. Its bustling everywhere in Malaysia and i hope you get to visit the other states as well.
Hey Darren, can you remember the name of the coffee place with all the plants etc? Was it Baboon House? I'll be in Melaka sometime early March on my Brompton cycle trip up the west coast of Malaysia...can't wait
Hey Darren! Been a long time man. Editing and camera work looking really nice. The coffee place with all the plants looks like my kinda spot. Have fun man 😃
Oh wow... gives Richart's video on this same day a very different perspective indeed. So so glad you went with him on this memorable trip during CNY Eve.
Yes, it was a great day, glad I captured it on camera. I need to carry my GoPro with my everywhere to be honest lol This was filmed on my internal microphone as a comparison 🤣
Hi Darren, good to see you back in my favourite country. Could I ask the name of the restaurant on the ri er you went to. We will be in Malacca later this year.
Darren you might want to try check out a new nomad visa just recently announced in Malaysia for the foreigner should you decide to live in SEA / Malaysia for a longer period of time.
Admiral Cheng Ho/Zheng He is BIG business in Melaka. The boat ride up the river is a decent way to pass some time. The Melaka River is a lot cleaner now due to a concerted effort by the local authorities. I love the mix of Chinese, Malay, and Tamil cultures. All three, and their religions, exist very close together in harmony. My next trip there will include more of the suburbs and the greater Melaka area beyond the colonial core. Your video brings back a lot of pleasant memories, Darren. GONG XI FA CAI/KONG HE FATT CHOI for the Year of the Rabbit. If you've turned 50 this year, that makes you an Ox, like me.
I have very conflicting memories of a trip I made to Melaka/Malacca. I was having a wonderful trip around the city during Chinese New Year back in 2012 and was making my way around the city during the Lunar celebrations when I was suddenly struck like a lightning bolt with a rather severe bout of food related stomach issues!!
Oh don't talk to me about stomach issues in Mallacca!! 😂 I got really bad food poisoning after having fish and chips in my hotel room. Awful 4 days. This was a few years ago.
Thanks for the tour, Darren! Your video made me realize I have been to Melaka, so thanks for that! hahaha... I've been considering going back to KL for those fantastic modern buildings they have, with low rent. Cheers!
Great video today, nice quality footage and editing. Very informative. All the food looked great, even the Durian bun :D. Just wondering about the beer, looked like a stout. Some of the international stouts are very strong, I had a Guiness Foregn extra once, it used to be 8% and it was like old engine oil. Think there is a more palitable version now at 5.9%.
It was around 5.5% I think. Not heard of it before but it was a good drink to end the day. I rarely drink alcohol but that was needed 😂 Thanks for watching!
Welcome back to Malaysia Mr.Darren.. have you go to taman negara? do enjoy malaysia taman negara and borneo state as well. it quite chill and interesting place
OMG, you're back. Ken Abroad came back. Then Steve and Ivana of the Jetlag Warriors made a pit stop b4 flying to Europe, Then the Dodos -Michael and Gigi - flew in for some Ramly Burgers and Roti John. Then Jumi and Greg of Food and Footprints made a surprise visit. Nice to see you guys come back "home".
At 2:34 Literally my best or favorite part of this area.... You have the Mosque, the old chinese temple, the old peranakan building .... A diverse multicultural & multi-religion area.... Makes you wonder , when Malacca was still a thriving port back n the 15th century.... anyway, keep up the good work..mate..
Thank you, yes, I loved the mosque there and then the Chinese temple, love the multicultural side of Malaysia. Sadly, my footage was ruined of the mosque due to the wind, but I did film it too.
I remembered driving around the villages in Melaka years ago, there were old graves in between houses and some by the roadside. I am not sure if in the old days families used to bury their loved ones in their compound or those graves were not relocated. Melaka is a very old city and there could be interesting stories behind it.
I spent most of last year in South Korea, but back in Malaysia until mid-April and then I am applying for the remote worker visa, so will hopefully be staying for 1-2 years!
Stuffing my face with Malaysian food and exploring! Keep a look out for a video on Tuesday or Wednesday!
Can't wait!! 😃

Glad you like them! I’m taking a bit longer to edit the vids.
Hi Darren, good to see you back in my favourite country. Could I ask the name of the restaurant on the ri er you went to. We will be in Malacca later this year.
Yes, it was a hotel restaurant but it wasn’t on the river itself. It was a few minutes walk away. SamFu Restaurant in the Mimosa Hotel.
Welcome Back to Malaysia
Thank you for the warm welcome!

Melacca has such good vibes. Feels like a breath of fresh air especially travelling from KL since you aren't surrounded by skyscrapers.
It was particular chill that day, it can be really busy with tourists so it was nice to walk around without crowds.
I am surprised how come you have figured out the time to travel without the traffic jam!
@@bahloolstories5361 we were really lucky with the traffic there and back. Set off early though, around 6am.
@@remotedarren lucky is the thing. Others no matter what time they travel, the road is messy hehehe. Richart will atest to it.
Incredible pictures Darren

You’re going to be surprised, not many low rent here anymore. Still cheaper than UK/US, but prices have risen in the last 12 months.
@@remotedarren it seems prices have gone up even in the last 6 months, when I last looked at Airbnbs there. Recession all over the place, yeesh
