This is so stinking cool. It's a beautiful piece of nostalgia. It makes remembering that Martin lost the 1870's parlor guitar when Kurt broke it on The Hateful Eight set all the more sad. I mean, if a guitar is gonna go out, let it be that way, but still.
This is my guitar, a beautiful 000-21 serial #1943009. Have you noticed something? Yes, the serial #! It's pretty impressive that Martin has set apart not only the most beautiful tonewoods but also matching serial # to commemorate this reissue. I absolutely love my guitar. It looks gorgeous and sounds even better. You can listen to it on a couple of my RUclips videos.
You have no clue. I seriously ache over how bad I want one. It breaks my heart cuz I'll never afford one while I'm young enough for it to really matter.
I love the sound of nice Martin's. The cheaper models were always off putting to me. They don't have real wood necks or sides/backs. Thats the reason I got a Taylor, but damn. If I ever have the money, I am sure to buy a nice Martin. They just have that real acoustic sound.
A couple of months ago: "we just had this 1960 burst come in, we are lovingly refering to it as scarface" Today: "we just had this martin come in, we are lovingly refering to it as scarface" The moral of the story: everyone/thing that enters the realm of cme will come out being called scarface
+Alex Padilla Why? Brazilian rosewood can only be used if it was imported pre-CITES, and given the strict regulations and restricions on trafficking, they probably couldn't sell these guitars internationally if they went for the Brazilian rosewood. Brazilian rosewood is getting harder and harder to supply, and definitely a lot more expensive than it's guatamalan cousin. These guitars are already $4,950, out of the price range for most people anyways, and to think how much more it would cost to implement on these guitars already makes me a little dizzy.
+Alex Padilla Yes you can if you already have the Brazilian Rosewood woodpile ready to go. Which, I'm sure, Martin do have. BUT the authentication process & the CITES certification process means it is nearly impossible for Martin & CME to put out a new model of guitar and then sell it. Even if it was possible to sell domestically, CME would be limiting their market. Internationally a Brazilian rosewood guitar would be a nightmare to get out of USA & INTO another country. CITES is a minefield of restrictions , for a very good reason. There would be good argument too, that the difference between a decent Brazilian Rosewood sheet & a GOOD Guatemalan Rosewood sheet are so minute - even on an acoustic guitar - that you would have to A/B between the original & the reissue to establish where the tone changes... and if it is detectable at all.
One of the best guitar brands I love playing...from its history, influence, craftsmanship, and tradition.

I'd love to have a Martin. I'd like to play it so comprehensively that it spontaneously catches fire... that's a guitar well played. ;)
Just beautiful! Been a fan of Martins for as long as I've played guitar. As a librarian, I'd love to take a look around the Martin archive
Wonderful job, fellas! Thanks for sharing this.
I really need to go to the Martin museum
+chicagomusicexchange can you buy a guitar there? or is it just the museum? I live an hour away from it :)
+The Cantrell Project Who cares?! Just go!! haha If I lived an hour away, I'd be there while typing this comment.

Setiuas Poop You can still make guitars with Braz Rosewood. Its just really expensive.

+Alex Padilla Haha dude, not everyone has enough coin to have Brazilian Rosewood B & S-ed guitars.
