    I live in Wisconsin which is full of small country cemeteries, which we love driving through. One can tell so much about an area based on old cemeteries and their headstones, such as was the area settled by Poles, Germans, Swedish, Norwegians, Belgians or Czechs? And there are even tribal cemeteries. And cemeteries are usually on the best pieces of high ground in any area. Quiet, park-like and well-maintained.

    I miss waking up to the sound of farm machinery in the morning, and to the singing of blackbirds. There were five family dairy farms operating on the six mile drive into town when I grew up in NW WI. They're all gone now. We had farm fields across the road, so there was equipment running often, & the farmer kept his dry cows there. I like hearing the sound of the equipment running in your videos. It makes me all nostalgic.

    • @texastad1989
      @texastad1989 3 года назад

      My folks lost their dairy farm in WI around 84, I was very young and didn't understand what was going on.. just that we had to move. Years later we bought the place across the road, and the old farm is only just the house on two acres, the barn fell down, the pole building is someone's shed. My brother managed to buy up some of the farm land (he started his own farm when my dad's fell) and the rest is now part of the township with houses on it. Found out years later, the banker and the auctioneer were buddies and let the place fall to ruin without telling my now departed father that they could have applied for federal programs to save the farm. All just a memory now.

I went to our family cemetery, east coast prior to Memorial Day. Usually there’s families talking a walk, kids learning to ride bikes, and people paying respect, especially pre Memorial Day. This time there was no one in my sight. So quiet and peaceful. Quiet time, peace for the mind, some reminiscing. It can put a person in a state of mind you don’t normally get to.

    The sun is no joke. My dad is in his 80's and he gets a couple of growths a year removed from his head from where he worked outside without a hat for just a few years in his 20's; the last couple of years in particular he's had a couple that were actually cancerous and they had to cut deeper to get it all out. Thankfully he's still cancer free as if you catch 'em early they can remove them before the start to spread - but it's always a bit of extra anxiety when one comes back positive.

I've been in a combine once as a kid, rode a horse as a kid few times, looked after my friends' horses and I'm renting a small acerage right now but because I don't have an actual farming/agricultural background nor any experience they won't hire. I did work at AGI on the small assembly line working with tools&power tools. I assembled axles for augers, built pinch guards, rollers, etc. It was a fun and neat experience! As a descendant as generations of farmers, I see cemeteries as wastes of good farm land and will follow my grandparents' lead of fertilizing my favorite fields after I am gone. The watermelons on my grandmother's final resting place have never been sweeter.

    Love your family. It’s fun to watch what y’all do on a regular basis as farmers, as family etc. If I could go back and be young again I would love to live on a farm. At this point I would settle to live next to a farm (with cows) I think the country is so beautiful!!!

    I have melanoma and have had some major surgery. Catch it early and it's as simple as spraying a squart of freezing spray. Similar to a quick spray of WD40.

    It must feel so good every time you get another part of the farm in order. I’m ocd about everything has a place and should be in it’s place! Having that huge building is gonna really make so much more order for equipment!
    DC, I love cemeteries too. So peaceful and so much history right there. Those that come before us have left us so much.
    DC, get some Irish spring bar soap.... chop it up and toss in equipment your not gonna be using. Keeps the mice away and smells great. Cheap safe way to deal with mice.

      Another thing that works is used dryer sheets. Just stick them in the corners or anywhere mice could enter. ➕ they smell nice! 👌

    For Nave- I once took a golf lesson. I was told "you need to keep your head down! No matter what, keep your head down!" I told my instructor that if I did that, I would not be able to see the ball. She told me " believe me, you don't want to!" I shot a 112 that day..... I was able to get it down to around 90 a round, but, it was not fun, so I stopped.....

    When preparing a grave in my local cemetery, they strip the turf off and then once the grave is filled, the turf is replaced. It’s such a peaceful place to spend time. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    I feel like a day at the golf course with Cole would be better than just playing golf in general, I mean the way he brings joy to almost any situation he could make your worst play worth it😂

    I just had surgery to top of my head to remove cancer. I too was a farm kid. I’m very light skinned. I did wear straw hat and long sleeve light shirts when I was out working. And put on sun screen. The best sunscreen has zinc in it. Anything that has over 50 % doesn’t really protect.
