Restoring Old Rusty Table Fan with Laser Cleaning

  • In this episode I will restore this rusty vintage fan. The fan has lots of rust and all of the wiring needs to be replaced. This project was lot of work because there were so many phases in the work.
After disassembly I started by removing the rust and paint with Laser Cleaner. The device wan loaned to me by W2M (w2m.fi/?lang=en). Here is their demo video ( • 120 w laserpuhdistimen... . For the safety guard I used electrolysis for which I've made this tutorial: • How to Remove Rust wit...
For the painted parts I used filler and filler base coat. The color is blue metallic car paint, and it was coated with 2K clear coat to protect the surface.
To remake the damaged badge prints I used heat transfer. Should I make a detailed tutorial of the process for my second channel? I printed the wanted image on a transfer paper which is linked in the tools section. It normally requires a heat press, but since I don't have one I only used normal oven and used clamps to generate the needed pressure. I also used silicone pad to make the pressure more even in case my sheets of plywood were not even enough.
I also replaced all the wiring vintage style braided wire was used for the part that had similar wire and the rest of the wire was just plain plastic wire like it originally was.
I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed making it. Thanks for watching!

It was interesting, but all my fans stop working because of the motor, and he didn't do anything to the motor, so my guess is the fan worked before he started restoring it. It was rusty and not up to modern code, but it still worked.

I dont understand, you put ALL THIS EFFORT into the rebuild, even thought it might have been in a flood, then you DON'T clean out and replace the old grease . That is like rebuilding a car engine, then just reusing the used oil you drained out. I like the rebuild, but it is hard to overlook that.
