    It was getting very dark towards the end, especially with the snow blizzard coming in🥶

      Ran into my neighbors tonight who were visiting Iceland and Spain. Their flight from Spain arrived just as the volcano was taking off, and their cell phone footage from the tarmac was spectacular. At least I had briefed them on what to expect before they took off so they knew it wasn't the last thing they were ever going to do. Still, the timing of watching it start and grow in that first hour.

      Me too. After watching the first 3 eruptions then the scale of this one. 4 km…mind blown and then done so quickly (for now).

    Wow, Isak, thank you so much for this fabulous footage! I could watch this on an endless loop, it's just so peaceful and beautiful. The contrast between the jet black of the new lava and the pure white of the snow would make anyone think it'd been filmed in black and white, until you catch sight of the flames! And the sound is stunningly eerie but mesmerizing. Worthy of an award!

    Very dark, but beautiful. The wind noises...the sound of the rocks where the fires were still burning, like that of a natural Iron Foundery!! Many thanks for this evocative clip Isak. Happy New Year mate... 😇

    What was the source of the flames? It looked bluish in some spots. Was it methane from organic matter beneath the lava field, or was it something outgassing from the lava itself? It was so strange.

    Why are there fires burning on the 21st while the eruption has officially ended? I am confused.

    • @IcelandFPV
      @IcelandFPV  6 месяцев назад +1

      Seemed like some sorts of gases. Even tho there is no orange lava visible, the heat under the black lava is still hundreds of degrees with molten lava underneath.

  • @juice_lime5114
    @juice_lime5114 6 месяцев назад

    Gas flames, indeed. Happens when lava overruns vegetation. This has been documented in Hawaii numerous times, and also considered a known hazard.

    • @appearance8932
      @appearance8932 6 месяцев назад

      Geologyhub guy says “Not flames.” Rather, light from glowing lava reflecting off evolved gasses.
      Stunningly confusing eh?

      I dont inow to be honest, they where red/pink ish, but I saw footage of very blue flames at this eruption.

    Methinks that Icelandic officials have to reconsider their declaration of the eruption having stopped. 😒 Looks like there's still some activity.
    They really should afford some drones to supervise the region
    Or else, they should officially engage you and Gylfi as "national volcano watch"....

    • @IcelandFPV
      @IcelandFPV  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you! Yes it would make sence for them to have regular drone patrole going on there when there is alot of activity going on. I would he up for it😁
