Tell you what, you definitely won't regret it! Word of Honor is actually one of the best chinese romance I've ever seen. The actors chemistry is sooo good that you can feel their love oozing from the screen.

I dint believe she was a maid (In her first life) she was a good friend of the other girl whose family helped her out as she did her own business. She was essentially in the role of the secondary best friend to a main character even though she is the FL

Although still a subordinate, she might be closer to being a companion/confidant than an actual maid. Usually a companion doesn't have to perform duties than a lady-in-waiting would have to.
I've seen one clip, where the FL explains to the snake(!) that they can't sleep on the same bed, because she doesn't know whether it's male or female and males and females can't be intimate. It was enough for me to make a decision about not watching the drama.
Ahh, reminded me that I have the same thought about this drama. But, I'm kind of bored, so after a few weeks later, I just ... Let's give it a dive!! Surprisingly, I watched 36 EPs back to back on WeTV Apps 😁 I can't say it's great, but it's entertaining ... At least in my expectations. There are parts which I really just fast forward, but there are scenes that worth to be view. I'm just that patient ... Or my reason of watching certain dramas might be either rarely odd or just on impulse. Another reason that I didn't realize why I keep on watching, was because 'MengYao' was best friend with male lead. Subconsciously, I watched to find out if 'MengYao' will suddenly materialize and create mayhem.😄😄
Yeah, the freeze-frame style “fighting” thing is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. I saw a clip of that and it was enough to send me running the other way. Like. Why would you decide to do it that way. And the zero-expression performance makes it look even more stupid...
Because it means they don't have to hire fighting choreographers but yeah, he could have just lift up a hand or lift up an eyebrow, anything to at least make him look more alive
Revisiting this review after watching Love Between Fairy and Devil, and lol, I feel bad for Dylan now!! xD It's wild how one of the complaints here is that he's stiff and emotionless when he's just completely the opposite in LBFAD!! I'm not easy to please, tbh, but he really did an amazing job as Dongfang Qincang, for me!! I'm glad his recent project worked out for him!! ^^

I made it to episode 10, mainly on my interest in the 2nd lead couple. The 2nd lead guy does an amazing job with what he’s given, imho. Not interested in the main couple at all. But still that’s better than Moonlight. I only made it halfway through episode 1 of that before I gave up, my annoyance at the stupidity of the characters was too much, lol.

It's actually a good story with average execution of the main storyline. The main leads are blend, have no chemistry and act poorly. The seconds leads, however, are amazing and rock every minute of their screeen time. Love them to the moon and back and wish they will have alot of success after this drama.
Yes, second couple outshines the main couple! I don't know what happens to Dylan Wang - he seems very disconnected from everything. In my admittedly short history of watching cdramas, it's the first xianxia where the main leads have absolutely no chemistry. Female lead comes on screen = I get sleepy.
I love the second leads, that is the only reason why I watch it, I just straight up skip everything and find where does two are and watch them, their story is way more interesting than the main couple.
To be bluntly honest I am watching this series only for the second main leads. Xue and qingqing are terrific. I am literally skipping scenes of main leads just to watch them.IF they had made the drama with them as main leads then it would have been a hit. I also love the bromance bit.
The bromance in this series is off the charts, and more emotional than the leads' love story--so fun and amusing! And yes, the second couple are awesome.
I have to say, I think the way the dragon is rendered in this TV series is one of the most beautiful on-screen dragons I've ever seen. He's a dragon - a LONG - of pure white spirit, powerful but gentle, ferocious but loving. And the similarity he has to dragons I used to draw as a boy is really uncanny.
The writing for this show and production is really lacking but I've been starved from fantasy dramas for so long that I'm kind of following it on fast forward. It doesn't get any better nor is it so horrible. You just got to turn off your brain
Yeah my brain turned off just seeing ML's deadpan face. I had to go watch Word of Honor again for the third time. On a brighter note, Who Rules The World's trailer is out, there's hope for Wuxia elements in a show, and Jade Bone Ballad for Xianxia elements. I'll be well fed once those dramas release!

Me too. I love them and just fast foward everything about the miss dragon. They are much better written, acted, and Even their costumes ate better. To be fair I Also think the Main lead female gets better in her third life. But really the whole first 2 lives and the dragón are insufrible. Same - my interest in Cdramas is usually limited to the BL variety, but I will watch any AvenueX rant video because her rants are so hilarious. (Ironically, if they had done a GOOD job with the girl meets dragon concept, I would have probably made an exception to “BL Only” and watched it).

I started because of ZZJ, but continue mostly because of Deng Wei (XQX) and second couple. Minge's scenes are too repetitive, and as AvenueX pointed out most characters lack motives or backstory, and Minge is such character (but hoping for some backstory after the villain reveal).
Upon seeing the thumbnail, I thought ‘ah, another white-haired guy to add to my collection.’ Eh, I take it back. From the few clips I watched, he’s too stone-faced for me. And if the plot defies logic/common sense, should not be worth my time, might just get high blood lmao. I’m okay with ‘ugly beauty’ and ‘imperial coroner’ for now.

Imperial Coroner just elevated my expectation on logics and realism in Chinese drama. I don't think I will be satisfied anymore if any other dramas are not on par.
Still...Wang He Di with white hair looks good. First episode was ridiculous, but I found that I was enjoying the prettiness of it all. The funny thing was that I got a text from my daughter saying that she really appreciated how the story lines turned into a bit of a pro-feminist thing. Both male leads actually discuss love as supporting and helping rather than possessing and controlling. It all gets quite cute in spite of its many issues. That first fight with the lazy wire-work - actually I really enjoyed it, I thought it was fun to have immortals who can battle without twitching an eyelid, I watched it twice. Wouldn't want to see it showing up elsewhere, but fun was had. To be fair, I am using this as alternate viewing to Nirvana in Fire, which I hadn't seen (or co-viewing, if that is a thing...) Thanks for your videos, I enjoy them so much and it's a great help on deciding what to watch and understanding things.

Same here, plus Qingqing, the SL couple and ofc, the moments between Longyan and Qianxun, and Qingqing often catching them in an awkward position when they bicker lol 😂 btw I'm on episode 20, and things are getting better, as we see the FL as a brave general, which is refreshing to me. My favourite lifetime of Liu Ying so far.

Oh please I gave up after 10 miniutes 🙄 This makes me even more scared for immortality now. With the book being what it is, they have to change the story massively to pass censorship and I don't think these people have the ability (or enough respect for the original material) to do so in an interesing way like WOH did 😔 Universe please prove me wrong 🙏

I gave up on this drama about 4 or 5 episodes in, the pacing was strange. I know that the drama was based on a computer game, but did they have to make it exactly like the game? The dialog pacing was so slow. Lololol, OMG your rant was right on point with everything that was going through my mind while watching this.

Omg for the first time in my entire life up to date of 2021, its the first time i see a drama and WISH the cgi snake stayed longer on screen and NEVER turn back to human. THE CGI SNAKE HAS MORE REACTIONS AND CUTE EXPRESSIONS COMPARE TO THE HUMAN, WHAT HOW-
I have to admit, I don't think this is Dylan Wang's best acting. In The Rational Life I think he shines. But here, maybe it could've been done better. Maybe it was the storyline execution.
I finished Yu Long as each episode was 30min long so it was manageable. Tbh I finished it because of the side couple (can we talk about ep 34 because XQX's crying scene was amazing omg) and my obsession with the OST! I did actually quite like the main couple in the third life when she's a warrior, the story line made sense and it could have been it's own drama. The problem I had with the first and second lives is that I feel the male lead didn't struggle enough with his tribulations before giving up on the female lead. Someone told him he couldn't be with the female lead, and that was that. I couldn't feel any remorse, pain, longing or struggling. The way he just stood from afar watching her felt quite stalkerish lol. Also in the first life, at least in the game I'm told the female lead had a little bit of an inferiority complex as a maid, especially as her lady saved the male lead, but none of this came through. By the time we got to the fourth life, I was no longer invested in their characters and it didn't really matter to me if it was a good or bad ending, because the third life sufficiently explored this. I think the 'mannequin acting' is not all down to the cast - Wang Hedi for example was quite decent in Rationale Life. His action scenes in Ever Night 2 were also pretty good. He's a new actor so there are definitely areas he will improve with time and experience. I think the scriptwriters and directors have responsibility as well. You need a good team to produce a good show. I heard there are some scenes where the directors communicated they'd like to complete them in one take, as doing another take will take ages to set up again, so this is probably a huge factor (good directors will reshoot scenes 10s of times to get it right). Also actual chemistry off set with the actors is important. Has anyone watched the 1hr livestream with Pan Meiye and Deng Wei? Their chemistry was so much better that of Dylan/Bambi imo
I actually decided to watch the drama (I've been dying to watch a xianxia drama, okay? lol) and now in ep 16, I cannot stop. It's actually not a bad drama if you are more...hmm..forgiving? The cast have nice chemistry together be it the two cps or the friendship of the bros or the girls. Although the color and the filming style is a bit meh, it's not too bad if you get used to it. I think if you get through to the double digit eps, you'll begin to see its charm. It's one of the dramas that I see so many flaws yet I still watch acting like nothing is wrong LOL I checked out the RUclips comments in the Eng Subbed eps and eps and people seemed to like it so at least I'm not the only odd one out haha
I overcame my fear of snakes in Biology when I got to touch and hold a garden snake and since then I am not as scared. Although I almost stepped on a cotton mouth with nothing but flip flops on and that fright is still with me.
I've had a bad May, so I've been watching this as a trainwreck sort of thing. It only gets worse. If you get to the third life where they're trying to get you to believe the main character is a military general... Well. The action coordinator does no one any favors, but the script! My god. I feel bad for everyone involved, really.
And then there's me who binged 26 episodes in 2 days and am eagerly awaiting the release of the rest of them... 🤣😂🤣 If you like your fantasy drama with a side of extra cheese then you'll love Miss the Dragon.

I disagree. For me, I devoured this drama in 2 days. I don’t know why but I couldn’t stop watching it! Dylan is delightful as always. All actors are brilliant. I love the main leads but there’s surprising factor in this drama. The second leads! People love the second leads as well. You’ll enjoy this drama if you like deep love story which was told with reasonable humors and eye candy actors who can act.
OMG! I'm so glad that someone has finally said something about how that snake scene is so damn alike with ten miles of peach blossoms! and of course the irony between the characters. I'm actually wondering why seemingly no one was pointing out how similar these scenes are, so glad to have you Avenue X!

They kind of present the immortals/fairies/ demons as not having complex emotions. Just eat, sleep, and do their jobs. The exception being QingQing, the bird fairy who enjoys being around people. This leads to the "comedy" part of the series as the others learn about and experience different more complex emotions for the first time. Understanding what love is, how to make someone happy, jealousy, etc.

I heard so many bad things about this drama and decided to still give it a go a few days ago - cos I like making my own opinion on things. And I'm so glad I did. Has it got flaws? Absolutely. One of it's major flaws is the pacing is slow in the middle episodes. But overall, I really enjoyed it and it was nowhere near as bad as I was led to believe. Yes there are some logic flaws, but honestly, you can find logic flaws in pretty much every show so these don't annoy me as much. Wang Hedi's performance, while not as strong as LBFAD, is not bad at all. The 2nd couple also had a very interesting story. The CGI and fight scenes were awesome in places. All in all, I really enjoyed this and binge watched it. If you're able to keep an open mind to go further in the story, some of you might actually enjoy it.

But I finally watched Fairy and Devil and I wanted to see more of Dylan Wang and while it has it flaws, I am loving the characters. Yes, it's goofy and some things just don't make any sense but I'm really enjoying it.

LISTEN to me! Watch Miss the Dragon for the SECONDARY couple! Lord Luofeng and Qing Qing are absolutely amazing! This couple is literally just it!!!!!! I found myself skipping large portions of the show to find them! They have a cool and very sad backstory and I was literally crying when that scene happened. Watch it for them!!!!!! You will not be sorry.

It isn't the best cdrama by a long shot but the episodes are short and it is an easy watch while I wait to find a new drama to obsess over. Also as others have mentioned the 2nd couple is a delight to watch.

I had most of the same complaints you had and for lack of what to watch i also watched the first 4 and I was like NO! This is not it. The fights were just ridiculous, the maid seemed not to be aware at times she was a maid like she chooses when to be a maid, oh the guy who commanded the (elf bird)second lead to be his slave a 100 years; his acting was a little painful to watch. Also the story seemed to be too fast paced. It was just too much

I can't say it's great, but it's entertaining ... At least in my expectations. There are parts which I really just fast forward, but there are scenes that worth to be view. I'm just that patient ... Or my reason of watching certain dramas might be either rarely odd or just on impulse.
Another reason that I didn't realize why I keep on watching, was because 'MengYao' was best friend with male lead. Subconsciously, I watched to find out if 'MengYao' will suddenly materialize and create mayhem.😄😄

I made it to episode 10, mainly on my interest in the 2nd lead couple. The 2nd lead guy does an amazing job with what he’s given, imho. Not interested in the main couple at all. But still that’s better than Moonlight. I only made it halfway through episode 1 of that before I gave up, my annoyance at the stupidity of the characters was too much, lol.

It's actually a good story with average execution of the main storyline. The main leads are blend, have no chemistry and act poorly. The seconds leads, however, are amazing and rock every minute of their screeen time. Love them to the moon and back and wish they will have alot of success after this drama.
Yes, second couple outshines the main couple! I don't know what happens to Dylan Wang - he seems very disconnected from everything. In my admittedly short history of watching cdramas, it's the first xianxia where the main leads have absolutely no chemistry. Female lead comes on screen = I get sleepy.

I love the second leads, that is the only reason why I watch it, I just straight up skip everything and find where does two are and watch them, their story is way more interesting than the main couple.

To be bluntly honest I am watching this series only for the second main leads. Xue and qingqing are terrific. I am literally skipping scenes of main leads just to watch them.IF they had made the drama with them as main leads then it would have been a hit. I also love the bromance bit.

The bromance in this series is off the charts, and more emotional than the leads' love story--so fun and amusing! And yes, the second couple are awesome.
I have to say, I think the way the dragon is rendered in this TV series is one of the most beautiful on-screen dragons I've ever seen. He's a dragon - a LONG - of pure white spirit, powerful but gentle, ferocious but loving. And the similarity he has to dragons I used to draw as a boy is really uncanny.
I'm actually enjoying the fluff and eye candy. Second leads are fun.
The writing for this show and production is really lacking but I've been starved from fantasy dramas for so long that I'm kind of following it on fast forward. It doesn't get any better nor is it so horrible. You just got to turn off your brain

I started because of ZZJ, but continue mostly because of Deng Wei (XQX) and second couple. Minge's scenes are too repetitive, and as AvenueX pointed out most characters lack motives or backstory, and Minge is such character (but hoping for some backstory after the villain reveal).

Still...Wang He Di with white hair looks good. First episode was ridiculous, but I found that I was enjoying the prettiness of it all. The funny thing was that I got a text from my daughter saying that she really appreciated how the story lines turned into a bit of a pro-feminist thing. Both male leads actually discuss love as supporting and helping rather than possessing and controlling. It all gets quite cute in spite of its many issues. That first fight with the lazy wire-work - actually I really enjoyed it, I thought it was fun to have immortals who can battle without twitching an eyelid, I watched it twice. Wouldn't want to see it showing up elsewhere, but fun was had. To be fair, I am using this as alternate viewing to Nirvana in Fire, which I hadn't seen (or co-viewing, if that is a thing...) Thanks for your videos, I enjoy them so much and it's a great help on deciding what to watch and understanding things.
For what it's worth, I'm only watching for the second leads (they're soooo cute). The rest is just background noise for multitasking.

Same here, plus Qingqing, the SL couple and ofc, the moments between Longyan and Qianxun, and Qingqing often catching them in an awkward position when they bicker lol 😂 btw I'm on episode 20, and things are getting better, as we see the FL as a brave general, which is refreshing to me. My favourite lifetime of Liu Ying so far.

I gave up on this drama about 4 or 5 episodes in, the pacing was strange. I know that the drama was based on a computer game, but did they have to make it exactly like the game? I have to admit, I don't think this is Dylan Wang's best acting. In The Rational Life I think he shines. But here, maybe it could've been done better. Maybe it was the storyline execution.

I finished Yu Long as each episode was 30min long so it was manageable. Tbh I finished it because of the side couple (can we talk about ep 34 because XQX's crying scene was amazing omg) and my obsession with the OST! I did actually quite like the main couple in the third life when she's a warrior, the story line made sense and it could have been it's own drama.
The problem I had with the first and second lives is that I feel the male lead didn't struggle enough with his tribulations before giving up on the female lead. Someone told him he couldn't be with the female lead, and that was that. I couldn't feel any remorse, pain, longing or struggling. The way he just stood from afar watching her felt quite stalkerish lol. Also in the first life, at least in the game I'm told the female lead had a little bit of an inferiority complex as a maid, especially as her lady saved the male lead, but none of this came through. By the time we got to the fourth life, I was no longer invested in their characters and it didn't really matter to me if it was a good or bad ending, because the third life sufficiently explored this.
I think the 'mannequin acting' is not all down to the cast - Wang Hedi for example was quite decent in Rationale Life. His action scenes in Ever Night 2 were also pretty good. He's a new actor so there are definitely areas he will improve with time and experience. I think the scriptwriters and directors have responsibility as well. You need a good team to produce a good show. I heard there are some scenes where the directors communicated they'd like to complete them in one take, as doing another take will take ages to set up again, so this is probably a huge factor (good directors will reshoot scenes 10s of times to get it right). Also actual chemistry off set with the actors is important. Has anyone watched the 1hr livestream with Pan Meiye and Deng Wei? Their chemistry was so much better that of Dylan/Bambi imo

I actually decided to watch the drama (I've been dying to watch a xianxia drama, okay? lol) and now in ep 16, I cannot stop. It's actually not a bad drama if you are more...hmm..forgiving? The cast have nice chemistry together be it the two cps or the friendship of the bros or the girls. Although the color and the filming style is a bit meh, it's not too bad if you get used to it. I think if you get through to the double digit eps, you'll begin to see its charm. It's one of the dramas that I see so many flaws yet I still watch acting like nothing is wrong LOL I checked out the RUclips comments in the Eng Subbed eps and eps and people seemed to like it so at least I'm not the only odd one out haha

If you get to the third life where they're trying to get you to believe the main character is a military general... Well. The action coordinator does no one any favors, but the script! My god. I disagree. For me, I devoured this drama in 2 days. I don’t know why but I couldn’t stop watching it! Dylan is delightful as always. All actors are brilliant. I love the main leads but there’s surprising factor in this drama. The second leads! People love the second leads as well. You’ll enjoy this drama if you like deep love story which was told with reasonable humors and eye candy actors who can act.
OMG! I'm so glad that someone has finally said something about how that snake scene is so damn alike with ten miles of peach blossoms! and of course the irony between the characters. I'm actually wondering why seemingly no one was pointing out how similar these scenes are, so glad to have you Avenue X!

They kind of present the immortals/fairies/ demons as not having complex emotions. Just eat, sleep, and do their jobs. The exception being QingQing, the bird fairy who enjoys being around people. This leads to the "comedy" part of the series as the others learn about and experience different more complex emotions for the first time. Understanding what love is, how to make someone happy, jealousy, etc.

I heard so many bad things about this drama and decided to still give it a go a few days ago - cos I like making my own opinion on things. And I'm so glad I did.
Has it got flaws? Absolutely. One of it's major flaws is the pacing is slow in the middle episodes.
But overall, I really enjoyed it and it was nowhere near as bad as I was led to believe. Yes there are some logic flaws, but honestly, you can find logic flaws in pretty much every show so these don't annoy me as much.
Wang Hedi's performance, while not as strong as LBFAD, is not bad at all. The 2nd couple also had a very interesting story.
The CGI and fight scenes were awesome in places.
All in all, I really enjoyed this and binge watched it. If you're able to keep an open mind to go further in the story, some of you might actually enjoy it.

But I finally watched Fairy and Devil and I wanted to see more of Dylan Wang and while it has it flaws, I am loving the characters. Yes, it's goofy and some things just don't make any sense but I'm really enjoying it.

Edit: sometimes I want a tight storyline but I'm flexible and sometimes I want something that isn't too intense. This falls in that category so I can allow myself to simply enjoy the ride without being hung up on every little detail.

LISTEN to me! Watch Miss the Dragon for the SECONDARY couple! Lord Luofeng and Qing Qing are absolutely amazing! This couple is literally just it!!!!!! I found myself skipping large portions of the show to find them! They have a cool and very sad backstory and I was literally crying when that scene happened. Watch it for them!!!!!! You will not be sorry.

Also, I personally want to state that even if some Yu Long lovers stumble by my comment, please, no need to reply, and if there is still anyone who intends to watch this drama, I recommend you to watch it at 1.5 speed (better at 1.75)... THAT would feel normal...
It isn't the best cdrama by a long shot but the episodes are short and it is an easy watch while I wait to find a new drama to obsess over. Also as others have mentioned the 2nd couple is a delight to watch.

I just love this commentary. Given that I've seen large chunks of this series - I am thankful that it wasn't just me. I kept thinking that I was really missing something. The rant is perfect and now I can't stop laughing. Brilliant!
I was so hyped for this drama to see Zanjin but damn am I disappointed more than I have been when watching Dance of the phoenix.
Me for Zanjin and that there is a dragon. Only continue watching it for the second couple.

I had most of the same complaints you had and for lack of what to watch i also watched the first 4 and I was like NO! This is not it. The fights were just ridiculous, the maid seemed not to be aware at times she was a maid like she chooses when to be a maid, oh the guy who commanded the (elf bird)second lead to be his slave a 100 years; his acting was a little painful to watch. Also the story seemed to be too fast paced. It was just too much
