- I’ve spent years looking at the winter weather in Banff National Park. Two things always stood out, it’s freezing cold and it snows a lot. So when the temperature hit the upper 20’s after a snow storm I decided it was time. Unfortunately the winds had made short work of the new snow but the temperatures were agreeable to someone from my Latitude. With only three days to see as much of Banff and the surrounding area as we could. We tried to make the most of our time, starting with some window shopping from a majestic perch on Mount Hector.
I was hoping you guys would post soon, binged all your videos in the last few days! Absolutely wonderful channel, keep it up
the summit is the peak on climbers right of the saddle at the top. The left which you guys climbed is a sub peak. Awesome video either way
Just came to say I like the new intro animation... Nice
I really enjoyed watching this video, please make more. This channel needs Promo>SM!!!
Thanks for visiting our backyard. The lowest of bows to the both of you - fantastic job!
Great to have you guys up here again! Yep, we have had some crazy wind lately... ski conditions in the alpine have been exactly what you expirenced for the last month... glad you got that view despite the lack of snow. Its an epic area for sure!! Looking forward to seeing how your Wapta trip went! That was my first backcountry expirence and I got hooked...
Best damn channel on RUclips
You guys, Cody Townsend, and Forresty Forrest are keeping me going.
Fact! Best outdoor content on YT between those 3
Every post has me clicking faster than Lightning McQueen
Really like watching your videos. The thing is though, that when you guys are on top of a peak and look down, my heart rate goes up, my palms get sweaty and I think how in the hell can you do that. I think... I'm glad that's not me. I'm also glad you take us along on your adventures.
Dang why can’t my friends be down to travel 16hr last minute for an epic adventure?! Great video as always, can’t wait to see what you guys tackle next!
because they have families and no money?
@@goodbyemr.anderson5065 I believe Danny is married with two kids. They are successful guys who know how to have fun and make dope videos. No need to criticize.
@@maxcsquared6083 yeah all the mediocre people are. They seem very down to earth.
LOL *leaves UT for good snow* gets windblown s**t f**k conditions in Canada.
My Dad Bod needed this.
Love the channel.
If you’re the Mediocre Amateur, I’d be the Absolutely Terribly Mediocre Amateur.
Danny confidently rocking probably the biggest gaper gap I've ever seen with those sunglasses.
Good skiing on Hector is pretty rare and the views are even better from the true summit 😉. Good to see you guys in the back yard again. Love the videos.
That's one heck of a buildup just to advertise a spicy nut roll 🤣
Thanks for the memories. I climbed Hector on skis three times back in the '80's on skinny telemark skis. Once in July and we had better conditions every time. I have skied conditions like the wind blasted snow you had many times. Just part of the adventure of being in the great white north.
4:45 it just doesn't get more Mediocre Amateur than that attitude💪
I freaking LOVE your channel
Living vicariously through your adventures, making my lower walks count, and pretend I'm one of the crew!!
As I watched this video, Utah has now just got pounded with many feet of snow... it's safe to head back to Utah and climb some snowy peaks! :)
Excellent job, only adventure and video I know of that is better than mine, hats off!
Breathtaking white mountains all around!! WOW 😮 ⛷⛷Beautiful Banff 🙋🏼♀️🇺🇸
Sweet trip! As I'm looking out my window shrouded in grey, covered skies, you couldn't have asked for a better day for a climb! Thanks for sharing
FINALLY
New Medicore Amateur Video! 😃
haha, i could ski down that, maybe not thinking its fantastic but it wouldn't b hard. couldn't climb 1/4 up.
Welcome to Canada! Banff is just the start! Purcell Range, Bugaboos, Kootenays... Enjoy!
Frickin love when MA gets a new vid up. Special surprise
Best video ever .
You guys are amazing!! Miss seeing more new content, i hope everyone is well, just living life!!❤❤❤
Yeessssss! Very excited to see this episode. ✌️✌️
Love it as always! But seriously, if you’re going to rope up because you’re on a glacier/ice field and maybe worried about crevasses, you wouldn’t be able to arrest a fall without an axe. So no sense in roping up without bringing an axe. Whippet isn’t going to help.
@@itod910 skis are better at keeping you out of a crevasse due to the broader distribution of weight, but it’s actually quite difficult to self arrest with skis on. With an unexpected partner crevasse fall on skis, you get pulled/tipped over toward the fall, putting your skis on the wrong side of your body to arrest the fall, and then have a very difficult time getting back into an arrest position with the skis on- and that’s with an axe. Without, you better hope it’s a gentle fall and you have time to drop down and set your ski edges. Good luck with that.
I decided to learn to ski because of your channel. I won’t reach your level but your content is inspirational. I hope you keep it up for years to come.
That was a stunning view from the top of the mountain!
Avalanche reporting are always preface with "It Depends." Ti quote Danny, when you were walking across the cliff face it made me "tighten up all over." Great adventure guys.
Official Counter: Mediocre Amateur videos since Danny's last puke: 21!
Who in the world would pick you two hitchhikers up. Two "Mediocres" asking some Canuck for a ride...sketchy.
Damn near record cold in AK right now with outflow winds, been binging on your vids, good stuff! Hey what type of laundry soap you guys use, everything is so clean ;)
I've been wondering when the next video was coming out. Another awesome adventure. That view was stunning.
Gnarly guys!
Keep following your nose boys
You seriously missed the good stuff by a day. We had excellent snow conditions on the Saturday/ Sunday/ Monday. Thanks for visiting us in Canada- we love having outdoor enthusiasts visit our playground!
Great video ! Too bad everything is getting wind loved this season lol ! I wish you boiz would get better conditions xD
Lol 6:52 subtitles on “applause.” Sometimes I wish I had an applause subtitle when I climb.
I think the hut people will have no choice but to make you a reservation with your new, subdued clothing pallette.
i live an hour east of banff in cochrane. pay closer attention to the weather forecasts we get alot of chinooks that warm things up considerably.
that snow up top looks absolutely terrible lol. Great video though!
Awesome to see another Banff video!! Sounds like there might be a crowsfoot pass video ;)
Wow !!! So awesome you guys.i love it .thanks for sharing.
Just look at that summit block, wow. If you ever come out to Vancouver Island I'll take you on some epics hikes.
Was just at Banff skiing at Sunshine! It’s amazing seeing you guys in my backyard!!
Is Aaron wearing an air bag? Of is that orange thing on his left shoulder something else?
Always amazing. Thanks brothers.
Dude you gotta try those boots Erin is in, the f1 LTs are awesome
Back at boys. Thanks for the video, awesome!
A bad day in the mountains is better than....you know the rest
Looking forward to you doing the Little Bear to Blanca traverse.
Always look forward to your videos, keep making them!
Lack of snow. Crappy condition
Love that you are finally exploring Banff and Canada!
Fantastic view looking over the ledge....well done fellas
What do you guys do for a living???
This video manifested the snow in Utah rn
Snow looks like tufa slabs
It’s a hump day miracle!!
This channel deserves better positioning and promoting. Pure enjoyment watching it. Great job lads.
What are those awesome blue glasses?
Best channel by far.
8:26, can relate Danny, can relate
Building the brand!!!...that uneven wind blown snow condition is called "Sasutrugi" and it can hide some nasty large pockets of air under thin layers of snow that has blown in erratic directions forming a very weak layer, or even a " bubble" of trapped air under the snow.... awaiting loading from more snow, unsuspecting skiers or marmots, etc. to allow it to release...
I love your clear concise and rapid approaches and adventures, EXCELLENT! stay safe!
Banff is so cool. Thanks for sharing.
Great work boys
Pretty wind hammered. Well done. Checked out your swag. It's tough to see how big your little sticker is? If small enough, it would look great on my helmet.
sucks you hit a windy dry spell for the 93N - but love you guys coming up here for a whilrwind trip!
Have you ever considered a climb of Great Northern and skiing down the face? Maybe do something in GNP?
Yessssss
Reminds me of a couple of times I did Hector back about 35 or more years ago--- before many ppl doing it nowadays were even born. Lol One trip was half decent snow, the other was just survival skiing on longer, narrower skis. Nobody ever used to worry about crevasses then, not until a guy went in one and died about 20 yrs ago.
I love how you commented to chill out and don’t lose sleep over it. I told myself that tonight about a canyon I’m doing this weekend. LoL when I scanned the title before watching made me think you was meeting Hector for an adventure 🤣
Amazing views, great mountain! Still made at RUclips for recommending your videos few days late
Crazy beautiful! Thanks so much for another great video!
Hey guys, if Danny's uploading daily, take a look at St. Nicholas peak, mates in Canmore were ski-mo-ing over there last weekend and conditions were good!
Awesome!
Dang Danny, looks like wind blown hard packed. But like you said. The view is incredible! Thanks for great vid.
I lived there for 5 years and scrambled all over, that was cool, gnarly decent fer sure. Thanks for sharing.
Nice.
Hey Danny, is that the Black Diamond dawn patrol pack you wear?
If you are ever back out here climbing, there are two peaks along the Wapta Ice Feild called mount Rhondda and Mount Habel, which are pretty close to where you just were. The two peaks are side by side and it is an awesome trip in. If you start at bow summit, you are also able to do a trip to the Peyto hut (have to book the hut) which sits on a terminal moraine just below the two peaks. Another option is to set camp on the glacier just below the two peaks! This trip is not favorable if you want to bring a pulk, although it is doable you will just have to set up haul lines to get them up some on the steeper slopes.
We did this in April sometime in the 80's..There's some big holes in the glacier and we had to wait about 3 hours for the snow to calm down and quit sliding. We did it but it wasn't fun.
The main reason people typically wait until March/April is because the snowpack isn’t deep enough to safely travel the glacier (people have died on that glacier, it’s heavily crevassed with man eaters all over the ski line). Avalanche danger is the other reason.
Glad y’all had fun, it’s a great run when it’s in condition and the view from the summit is sublime.
Need the music!!! Such a good video as always. Always excited to watch a new one!
Ooof, even our New England ice looks good next to this. Beautiful area, though.
Holy shit that's some crunchy shit. Just go to the selkirks, don't mess around
There is a bolted 8 pitch climb on dolomite called Achilles spire which is on mt andromache. It is the mountain just to the north of mt hectar. U can see it as u climb up between the two mountains on the north side of hectar. Check it out on mountain projects. Amazing 5.8 easy climb.
supercool
Very nice. Keep crushing it my dudes. Always good to see Aaron, but wtf is the Blizz? Super stoked to see the rest of this adventure
You guys should come out to the Kootenays. Our mountains aren’t quite as spectacular as Banff but our snow is a hell of a lot better. Shoot me a message if your ever coming out this way.
So dope that you climbed hector ! I climbed it in the summer the crevasses are nuts!
Love it. Really hope you’ve got more Canadian trips lined up! 🇨🇦
😍
Such a cool adventure. Would love to ski this someday.
