An iconic car, definitely a future classic. I own two of these, & once you get ahead of the rust, the only other issue you may have will be with the thermostat housing, a very cheap & easy fix. Great car on the road & ultra reliable. Well done on your purchase

Yes, I had to replace the thermostat housing on mine last year.

Is it worth to buy it for £1690? This seems the price now.

I loved the KA² especially impressed with the hidden internal storage above the wheel arch; fantastic! Took my wife and newborn daughter in it from the Fens to Downderry in Cornwall, all the luggage and all the baby stuff including steriliser and bottles!!

Great looking thing and in an excellent colour. Definitely deserves to have the rust repaired and be kept for good weather driving... I bet these will gain in desirability in years to come. I've had a few, superb fun to drive.

They are fun to drive aren't they. Light, responsive. Not like the overweight super minis.
Just sold my partner's 'coz the only thing I really needed was a towbar or a roof rack which I could have had made, but decided on a bigger car in the end.
Like you, I'm sure these small cheap light and cheerful KA's will follow the Ford Fiesta and become desirable in a short period.
The one we had was dark grey with matching dark grey leather trim and a factory Sony stereo. Somebody got a very good deal yesterday and I'm happy for her (The woman).
Always amazed at how so many people frown heavily on cars like this.
Rust buckets - Cheap - Rubbish. and then suddenly turn 180° degrees a few years later when they can make a quick profit out of them.
"Actually ........" - Hilarious. How do they ever think anyone can take them seriously after that; changing opinions and "sides" like politicians. Imitating wind vanes. LOL.

My late Aunt had a Ka Collection (not sure of the year), it was light metallic blue & it was a great little drive. I recall it had a really efficient heater having visited my Aunt during a particularly cold Easter. The analogue clock is from the Mondeo parts bin.

The rust on this is so minor that I wouldn't bother fixing it for a couple of years. Just rub grease around it stop rainwater getting under the blister.
Other than that, you've got something very special here. Deserves to be parked in a garage out of the weather.

Lovely condition and rare find. Great little cars! I just spent about that amount keeping my 2004 KA Luxury on the road for another year. Sadly it is the dreaded rust that gets them in the end. Well at least it keeps my local garage busy with the welding lol! Thanks for sharing!

Yours is a very similar story to mine Jon. My KA Collection is in silver on an 05 plate with similar mileage. Strangely, mine has Air Con though and the older dashboard layout. Wish mine was in green, it’s lovely.

  • @harryrutherford8094

The Sublime is a great car. Mine is an 05 model. 24000milrs on the clock. Its very comfortable and is very nippy in traffic. This model has ABS brakes, multi CD player, air con and a full leather interior. Very luxurious. Going from my 19 reg Kuga into the KA is a bit of a culture shock. The technology has certainly moved on!!

I have a 2006 Ford KA collection also but in like a really light blue. Only problem with mine is i need to fix the huge amount of Rust that this car is prone too. Mine also has rust around the fuel cap and mine has AC which is weird considering yours doesn't. Does anyone know the size of the front door car speakers cause i wanna upgrade mine?

Less than £500!!!! You robbed the old girl. I am sure the dealer would have given her more than that.
If the petrol filler is showing rust around the edge and also the rear wiper around the mounting hole it is probably grim underneath.
I have a panther black one of these 2007 only 7k miles inherited from my Dad at 4.5k miles. It is mint condition inside and out but underneath is starting to corrode on the rear axle so I have removed it and got rid of the rust taking it back to clean bare metal and then repainted it. Once refitted to the car it will be as good as new. Engine is really smooth, It handles surprisingly well, like a go kart. Can't say I like the slime green colour of your one. I guess you sold it a long time ago.

    • @JonCoupland
      @JonCoupland  Месяц назад

The dealer contacted me to say "listen Jon we can't pay her anything for this and all she would like is £500 back off it" so the suggestion of "being robbed" is not correct and I pride myself in being fair. I did sell the car to a dealer who had a ford garage ... Remarkably it now looks as if it's been thrashed and scrapped

The worst car of all for rust, where the sills and chassis rot amazingly quickly. The Mk4 fiesta too but not quite so quickly. No-one quite knows why, but it's thought to be a result of leaking door seals and in the case of the petrol cap area, the rear window seal. Such a shame because they were great little cars ruined by terrible rust problems.

I never appreciated the KA when It was launched but now I do. However over the years some of the KA's original and charming featues (like those grey plastic bumpers and original grill) have been changed as Ford attempted to keep the model updated. Pity.
