THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT WORK KEEP IT UP
Thank you too!
Very High quality video..mate....thanks
Much appreciated!
Thanks i was searching for a hard drive for my Xbox series s that was relatively fast
Ssd are cheap nowadays but you can't get 2TB for 60€ like this one
Thanks for the breakdown. I ended up picking up one of these and am curious is there any benefit to the provided software on any of these external hds?
I frankly don't use any of the software
@@KnowledgeSharingTech ya ive had a few externals in the past and never did either, and as i just got another, and saw another install available, and saw ur video, figured id ask as you probably have a better insight then i do. Thanks man!
@@frankdux5785 Welcome, if you have a windows PC and want to use it for backup, look at these 2 videos: ruclips.net/video/84gz4v1-RyA/видео.html and this one ruclips.net/video/nXEqhBIHUGc/видео.html
can we install an operating system like windows or linux on this wd elements hard drive? or should we?
Yes but there's a special way to do this. Look at these videos: ruclips.net/video/znVpA-RrlOY/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/yNhZ_6WiuDU/видео.html
Does this drive still work well? I read reviews that it stops working for some people and they lost files. I am afraid to rely on it all the way because of that.
Still Working strong
@@KnowledgeSharingTech Good to know. Thank you.
I SAW YOU FIRST TIME
Then you didn't watch my previous videos thoroughly LoL. I make split seconds appearances in many. Thank you for watching :)
Thank for the video. I bought the 4TB elements version, and my speed was also 120mbps average. But after 3 or 4 days, the speed decreased to only 80mbps large files copied from my M.2 SSD. There are still 2.5TB free. Any reason why this is happening?
This is due to fragmentation.
@@KnowledgeSharingTech I did run the defragmentation, but Windows showed it is not fragmented.
It is for the fact that the drive uses SMR. As you write it needs to perform operations to clean up, otherwise the speed will decrease.
Also you must enable Trim operation so that the drive knows unused space, which it needs to clean itself effectively.
If you use Linux, make sure trim is active with "lsblk -D" and "systemctl status fstrim.timer". If you just Windows it Mac I don't know how you can do it.
CNA YOU PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW TO CONVERT IMG TO ISO
Noted!
I just bought it, but speeds average at about 5 mb/s (possibly even lower). Could it be faulty?
Are you connecting it to a 3.0 USB port? These ports usually are blue in color or labeled SS. Try another port and if you have another computer, try it also on another computer. If it still is slow, then return it
@@KnowledgeSharingTech yes, to 3.0 and 3.1
@@KnowledgeSharingTech I have realized that for large files as few as possible it keeps at an average of 90-100 MB/s. What I have tried was transferring >100GB worth of data (pictures, videos, personal projects, school work etc) from my hdd to the external one. I was expecting low speeds but not as low as less than 5MB/s to 100KB/s or even lower. I tried zipping the folder that contains all of my data and tried transferring again, now it got 30MB/s avg, which still takes too long to transfer. I am considering switching to an external ssd, maybe I will have better results.
2:03 is what you're looking for.
Good afternoon
Question Shock-Proof?
Thanks
No but it is pretty sturdy
I just want to access the HDD itself Not the cloud!! I don't want to sign up to use or sign in!!
Can i use this as a laptop internal hard drive?
No
Tried this for pc gaming a lot of the games had stuttering and hitching .
Did you connect it to a USB 3 port?
@@KnowledgeSharingTech yes I did , it runs 2d and retro games fine .
Why is mine at 40mb/s? :(
nvm. figured it out. i was plugged it to a USB 2.0 port. XD
Glad it worked as intended
every single WD HD i've ever bought has broken, terrible company
