The cinematic was actually very beautiful, and I've grown to love everything the cinematic team does with Night Elves. The music, the aesthetic and the star tattoos are a lovely touch. Wish we could've seen Night Warrior Tyrande a bit more, since the aggressive, warglaive wielding former priestess was one of my favorite arcs since 2018, only to have it end so abrupt.
Art, design, cinematic, music, all top as usual. Story, not so much. Art is literally carrying this game right now, shame the story does not only not make sense, but it's ridiculous as well.
"WHY DID YOU LET THOUSANDS OF NIGHT ELVES BURN TO DEATH?!?!" "Ay yo cos chill! Happy birthday!" "...Elune. All those souls went to the maw." "Ah shit dog my bad."
So Elune can hear the cries and pain of the Winter Queen, and sent souls to help but....didn't....confirm they actually arrived....so negating how stupid this is on it's own, she can STILL feel the pain and cries of her sister....and is still surprised? Maybe the writer's spent all their time doing drunk desk crawls too huh.
I do not think she could, know that, considering elune is life, and life and death do not realy work toghether, elune might have blesses the souls so they would go directly to ardendweld, but she could not know that they could not get there, I dont even think the Winter queen knew that, heck atleast if you played the game, people in Bastion didnt know why the stream had stopped even
@@Weffi76 except she heard her cry at first place lets see, you hear someone far away crying for help and you do great deed to solve their problem but someting is wrong because she doesn't realize she had help and still crying, won't you wonder whats going on?
@Fedor Silva dude... atleast pandaria had a consistent story :D I felt this way at legion too, last time we seen illidan at warcraft 3 he was at odds with kiljaden after tring to kill lich king. Sure he made a deal with legion but he obviously never liked kiljaden from get go anyway despite being afraid of him and not a willing servent too. Not only that but he left with his brother's blessing too after they made a truce Then we assumed he became this mad tyrant that abuses everyone? I mean what? And then what? "oohh it was actually Kaelthas did all this not Illidan he just framed him with all that shit" no one even cared in story and when he is back every character that actually knows him like tyrande and malfurion still disliking him.
@@dajillwilliams oh yea thats an important point... that literally breaks their design isn't it But I think elves and Ardenweald might have more connection since night elf gods go there directly too... maybe that place is exception for elune and night elves?
Tyrande's voice actress is giving 1000% in this. You can hear the frustration, the anger, the pain and the sense of helplessness that the character feels when calling out for justice, vengeance and pain.
The cutscene in Ardenweald where you need to stop her losing herself to the age is fucking -unbelievable- Voice Acting. She did an incredible job. When she screams "ASH ROHK ISILAAR! THANDAL!" It gives me actual fucking shivers. I want MORE of this Tyrande please. I too would be that level of pissed at my Goddess if I'd served her faithfully all those years and the VA truly makes you believe that rage.
And crap writing like that is exactly why people are leaving WoW in droves. Well that and the fact that certain male employees appearances treat certain female employees like hammered dog shit
It's called bad writing. You get used to it. Okay that's a lie. But there isn't really anything you can do about it since Blizz is a bunch of money hungry shills now.
@@cameronmcewen9666 ain't no reason for them to leave the alliance. They're all still alive (as of right now besides certain ones) and no reason for them to join the horde either, they'd be vulnerable to other enemies since they'd have no back up. Less they all went to the "shadowlands" which would be silly
God that sentence is a hideous bullshit. Victim must pursue justice, especially since in these times, vile scums who despite their atrocities, always get away with them unpunished while victims always get punished unfairly. It's awfully infuriating. Those are the reasons I despise Sylvanas Windrunner, as both, character and as a villain.
After Elune said she sent Winter Queen some souls, the voice actors ''Oh-'' sounded so genuine like even she was mindblown by the stupidy of the Story.
While Blizzard's writing is anything but stellar, jabs such as these is a clear indication people would not process it even if it was. Character. Perspective. Elune is a cosmic deity seeing the grand picture, night elves were going to die, death is way less relevant in the universe where existence of the afterlives is a known fact, unlike ours. So yes, from her perspective the solution was anything but stupid.
in all fairness, I dont think any of the covenants, outside of the vampire ones(can remember the name atm), knew that the drought was caused by the arbitrator being broken and the souls going to the maw until after the shadowlands xpac started. And even if they did, we know so little about Elune, that there was a good chance that when Elune sacrificed the Night elves, that she had no idea the souls were all being channeled into the maw. Though I do wish Elune showed more emotion and sadness when she learned the fate of the souls being sent to the maw instead of her sister.
I’m gonna miss angry Tyrande running around with dark energy and warglaives wanting a certain undead elf’s head. And just when Tyrande and Sylvanas were getting intimately close.
I guess the intention was to help them with the drought in Ardenweald but since the arbiter got fucked up by some red lazer blast or some shit, it was redirected into the maw. Assuming the drought has been happening since BFA
@sassy muffin Idk I think It's more trying to help her sister the best way she can, but kinda just screwed up, and Elune did make those night elves sleep peacefully while they were burning
@@Aldaris1234567 she did. winter queen was wondering wtf her souls were cause her grove was withering, and elune said wtf I did send some, literally thousands, I let my tree burn for you, and then the winter queen is like ooooohh yeah about that ... and now they're all good. smh
Lol, on the list of every other genocide the Alliance committed forgotten. The Alliance tried to exterminate the Forsaken back in original just for "being there" despite Sylvanas originally trying to rejoin the Alliance. Forced the trolls and tauren over to the Horde because "Oh shit, they're hanging out with orcs. Not gonna figure out why, they're bad, open fire." Literal generations of orcs in concentration/slave camps: New Humans, who dis? Goblins? "Oh shit, they just happened to be here witnessing us violating a peace treaty and trying to assassinate Thrall. No witnesses, kill them all. And the whole "Tried to genocide the Blood Elves for the crime of "not being good enough cannonfodder" thing, and all of this has happened in the last... What, 30 years of Warcraft time? Literally Every faction in the Horde has very valid warcrime-reasons to want the Alliance dead dead, and super dead.... But it was all totally forgotten about by BfA and replaced with "Sylvanas is just buttfuck crazy for no reason, the Alliance are innocent victims who did nothing wrong." Yeah... I count a solid half-dozen attempts to exterminate Horde factions in the recent past and Greymane Repeatedly almost costing the Legion war just to keep attacking Horde forces, AND Tyrande abandoning her own kin based on 10000 year old bigotry and her massive bitch refusal to ever let go of a grudge. But nahhh, these fuckers didn't start shit.

According to something I read, Elune didn't want Tyrande to make the exchange of her life for Sylvanas' death, it's not that she denied her revenge, due to the night warriors actually embodying "Elune's Wrath". It was just that she didn't want to loose a powerful priestess and herald to a banal decision because of wrath, so in the wake of her anger whilst connected to Elune she accumulated power, thus being so discouraged and uncontrolled that the Winter Queen had to intervene, thus giving Tyrande a perspective from afar and allowing both of them a choice she didn't know she had until that moment. She was part of something bigger than she would've never known if she happened to kill Sylvanas, or just simply mourned her people.
"She must choose"? She made her choice when she chose to become the Night Warrior to take revenge on Sylvanas. What she gets to come out of this with a slap on the wrist?
@@Vizible21 it's funny because Shadowlands story is precicely why Sylvanas will finally be able to die in peace instead of spending the eternity suffering :'D
Because tyrande said my life is for me. We all know that elune power is double edge sword. I think elune didn't want tytande trade her life to kill sylvanas.
This is truly a sad reveal for the people of Darnassus and the world Tree. It was my first leveling zone…. That tear falling from Elunes eye was an emotional scene. Then my emotions were mixed….after realizing what had happened
Current blizzard has absolutely no right dealing with stuff like Elune. They are rewriting history and making a mockery of what greater developers have made.
seeing a lot of misleading comments - she didnt kill or let anyone burn - she sent night elf souls to the shadowlands instead of turning them into wisps like usual - Elune is not omniscient, so of course she didnt know about the Maw.
But...she DID let them burn..no? She couldn't have summoned a great rain or put out the fires? Or helped sustain portals to allow more of her people to escape? Or intervened to help her people not fall to Sylvanas in the first place?
@@SirenRyan She also did not stop the Great Sundering. She did not stop Archimonde attacking Nodrassil. We can safely assume, that her influence on Azeroth is simply not great enough to prevent that.
Nicolas Ritzke this is what I’ve been thinking about recently since the previous Tyrande cinematic. Pretty sure Elune is powerful, but not that powerful to stop such an event.
@@michaelbeleut6480 I don't think it's about how powerful, it's about how much she knew. Let's assume she knew about the shadow lands. I mean, that's a given, her sister is winter queen. So let's say they had some beef and elune says, eff it, I'm not letting my favored children to become batteries in Ardenweald but instead wisps that stay in Azeroth. But being family, that love won't go away, so things like the Sundering, the invasions... might have been her way of appeasing or saying sorry to her sister of stopping that flow of Anima. That amount of sudden surge of Anima surely would help Ardenweald. But with the Burning, it might have been Zovaal letting Elune know that there is a drought that is happening. And that might have been the bargain sylvanas was talking. Like, zovaal says to elune, your sister needs you, this banshee can help your sister. All I need from you is not to kill her. That's why she made the elves slumber rather than fight back or run away. I'm sure she knew about the maw, but not know why the drought happen. All she knew, she needed to help her sister. That's what I'm assuming here, given how treacherous Zovaal can be. Hell, it could have even been a plan by Denathrious. Elune might have been duped all these while. If this is true, the sheer arrogance of sylvanas knowing that tyrande would never be able to kill her would be... crushing for Tyrande. And for Elune... that bargain is no longer valid. But the Jailer would have already left sylvanas to her end which he did, because he EXPECTED sylvanas to betray him. You don't just betray a betrayer.
Elune: i let the tree and em elves burn so their souls can go to you sister 😃 Winterqueen: they all gone to the maw.. 😠 Elune: aw crap.. didn't expect that to happen lol 🤣 Tyrande: ....... Elune: uhh.. so... my child.. vengeance or.. renewal? 😅 Winterqueen: 🤦♀️
Exactly, Tyrande LITERALLY said "My life for hers" and yet Elune pulled the plug on her powers. An illusion of choice to further whatever crappy storyline Blizzard came up with.
Yeah, now Tyrande gets a choice when her perfect opportunity is taken away. It feels like the writers make a choice on something like making her the Night Warrior and then decide “Nah, let’s change it” every expansion / patch cycle. It happened with Jaina in BfA. She started out going full horde distrust and seemed to want revenge and helped assassinate Rastakhan. Then Daddy Thrall comes along and we’re all happy friends again.
It's like the characters do a complete 360 degree on their character development, very similar to how comic books always return to the status quo. WoW's writing is basically comic book-tier, always has been, it's what inspired Metzen. And that was the second 360 Jaina did. She did one in Mist of Pandaria too, after Theramoore was nuked and the theft of the bell through Dalaran, that she was the leader of at the time.
Sylvanas wants revenge for the Silvermoon and fights against Arthas. writers: - she suffered so much she deserved justice. Tyrande wants revenge for Teldrasill and fights against Sylvanas. writers: - you don't understand her motives! Banshee did it for the greater good!
@@Monika-kw2mb Arthas at least gets what he deserves, while Sylvanas did literally the same crimes running away from justice just because she feels bad about it. Honestly the writing has become absolutely stale. Its like Activision no longer cares for any stoy and just want to glue epic looking moments together, in the hope that noone will notice they had no plan for the last two expansions by now...

It seems that Elune chose the Dark Trolls as a race particularly because of their regenerative power and perhaps a substantial resistance to death, thus the Kal'dorei came to be. She led her to the well to understand the nature of arcane magic which has domain about time and order; granted them immortality.
That's what gets me, she really said "I'll send em to my sister" like she didn't just authorize sylvanus to burn her entire people, and then acts sad because she didn't actually check if they went to her at all. @wowalinbie For story reason Blizzard made the orcs attacking Alliance in Vanilla, oh, and also traveling the dark portal in the first war , for story reasons... I think for you mental health you should just watch TV, you shouldn't encounter any no story reasons here.
@wowalinbie I think Blizzard should add a narrator in WoW, continuously explaining the story for every loremasters who don't even read quests, that would be expensive but maybe efficient... It's not false to say that the lore is in puzzle so hardly understandable, because of how enormous it is with all the elements spread among the contents. For example BfA novel was way too important to understand the expansion, but at least it's more okay with the last SL novel. So at this point it's legit to criticize Blizzard narration... Not the story itself. But that's also why we have RUclips videos from people who could study everything... Well, I think in English RUclips there are a lot more of clickbaiter than actual lorists but you should have actual passionates ones to recompose and explain everything Blizzard made before judging. So yes, WoW never had a really amazing lore, it's worse when we look at the old Warcraft games... but the lore we can get since some expansions is just *fine* and constantly improving (except with WoD maybe), and in the same time they create future elements, they try to correct all the shit they did in the firsts expansions when they didn't know were they were going... That's why I don't understand where you all do come from, if you don't like WoW lore nowadays... you should just have left it 17 years ago without looking behind you.
Should have done the same with Arthas, left him alone in the distance to enhance the breadth of the world building. And Deathwing. And all the other larger than life characters blizzard has burnt down to keep your 15 dollars a month. You can really tell the artists and actors are the ones blizzard fucks over, and the writers are the ones doing the fucking.
You're telling me the god of night elves couldn't think of a better decision than than to kill thousands of her children and burned their tree, and didn't even know about the maw. And the reaction of the winter queen hearing this instantly turned hatred into forgiveness
You think Elune is smart? She literally brought her "favorite children" to the open wound of a world soul which they abused for centuries until they opted to blow it up(which shattered the super continent into pieces and weakened the prisons of the old gods) cause their beloved queen was a vain monster who was willing to give her entire planet and people over to a corrupt god in order to get into his pants, also she slept with a deer, a sentient deer but a deer nonetheless.
Somehow I feel that what Elune did was the same as Illidan's when he sacrificed his Moon Guard to defeat the Burning Legion in Black rook Hold. Even the Goddess of Moon imitated it🤔🤔
Yeah in some way, instead of turning dead elves into wisps, she thought it woul've been more helpful to send them to the Arbiter immediatly. (Elune don't choose who can die or live, unless when it's a direct healing praying so she can help. But she can't do much for cooked elves, but erasing their suffering before they die, and after, collect their souls before Kyrians send them to Shadowlands and the Arbiter.) Edit : The new novel on Shadowlands seems to indicate that Elune don't usually make wisps with each dead Night elf anyway, so yeah...
It's not the same, illidan knew his actions and moonguard themselves offered themselves as sacrifice. And illidan felt the weight of his decision its all there in the flashback quest ingame.
I wish there were translations for the Darnassian phrases that Tyrande was using as she was tapping more and more into Elune's power. Hell, Ash'al theradas has yet to be translated and it's been around since WC3 with Maiev.
"I heard you needed help. So I intentionally let my 'favored children' die in masses (By burning to death. Literally as agonizing as possible.) so you could use their souls to fuel your gardens. I'm a good sister, okay?"
Lore says that Elune put the people in the tree to sleep and they felt nothing. She didn't save them because her sister needed souls and she thought they could be reincarnated, but she didn't let them suffer.
Elune did let the night elves burn, but she was with them. They didnt feel pain. It was in one of the books, that same book also said that sylvanas knew elune would do that, which leads me to believe she (sylvanas) also knew that the souls would go to the maw.

Hold up, so Elune crying created a new Tear of Elune. If that’s the case that means the Tear of Elune in Valsharah during Legion was not actually an artifact of Eonar, but rather one of Elune. So then how did the Pantheon of Order have it and why didn’t Eonar have a Pillar of Creation?
okay at first I thought Elune meant she was responsible for killing the night elves, but re-watching it made me realise she just meant she sent the souls of the night elves to Ardenweald, but they went to the maw instead? okay but they were dead, their souls would of come before the arbiter, and they would of been sent to the appropriate afterlife, so did Elune just assume she could circumvent that process and send them all straight to Ardenweald? or is she just trying to take credit for something she had no control over. in saying this, night elves do have the innate ability to stay on Azeroth as wisps, so did Elune stop this process and instead send their souls to the shadowlands? not specifically to Ardenweald but the whole of the shadowlands? but if she heard their pleas, wouldn't their pleas be that they aren't getting any new souls and they all go to the maw? then why would she just send more souls to the maw. any way you look at it, it doesn't make sense, they wanted to bring Elune into the plot so people wouldn't lose interest in the story, but Elune remains as one of the most Elusive (get it) figures in Warcraft lore, but they're just taking away what makes her special. look at what they did to the titans, now they're just raid bosses.
She never clarifies, but it's possible that "hearing their cries" and pleas didn't mean she actually heard their voices crying out with actual words, but rather that she felt their desperate need for anima and could hear and feel this great cry out. But I'm pretty sure she just prevented or convinced the nelfs to go to the Shadowlands in place of remaining on Azeroth as wisps. I think she was confident she could send them straight to Ardenweald, and continued to hear these cries, but assumed they were cries of those experiencing the anima drought (and not cries of souls going to the Maw). Idk, that's all my own conclusions for this spaghetti noodle timeline of lore this game has. 🤷🏽♀️
What if by “sent” she means she told them not to stay as wisps, to go to the shadowlands. She didnt just throw them in she directed them. And by favored children, she considers all living things on Azeroth her children, so her less favored children were the horde and her favored were the night elves.
“I heard your cry, felt your pain AND IN THE WAKE OF TRAGEDY send a cascade of souls” People are so dumb to think she helped Sylvanas destroy Teldrassil. She just allowed to the souls of night elves to reach the Shadowlands to help her sister. She turned an inevitable tragedy into help. She could have kept and protected the night elves souls as she as done numerous times before. She’s not in the Shadowlands, she had no way of knowing the fate of the souls. All the so called lore buff out there need to get their head out of their asses
She didn't HELP Sylvanas....but she sure as sin didn't help the Nelves stop her. And her wording that she SENT a cascade of souls gives the impression that she ALLOWED it. Maybe you should get YOUR head out of YOUR ass and pay attention. Maybe they meant it differently but whoever wrote the script didn't help with the impressions.
But the things Sylvanas know that even after death we still has no free will, our fates are still controlled by someone what to be and put into those covenants. And she seeks to rebuild on this things
@@RyanEX2000 Yeah, because using words like Tragedy clearly means it was intended on her part and she let it happen. SMH. It's clear she couldn't prevent it or she would have. Just like she couldn't prevent Ysera's corruption by her own tear. Shadowlands shows us these beings are not perfect and all knowing. They're not all powerful either. She send a cascade of souls because she could have easily kept them and protected them from harm. Just like Bosamdi did with the troll souls. Her reaction to the news the soul were lost to the Maw should tell you everything you need to know about her intentions. Instead, you're joining the haters hellbent on hating the story at all cost. @@abderrahmane1747 "the blood elves made the sun well and worship the sun god". Not yet. Thalassians were members of the Holy Light Church. Why do you guys assume she was going to save them? She didn't help with Archimonde, didn't help with the Legion, didn't help with the Great Sundering, etc. She sent those souls to the SL to help her sister instead of sending the souls to herself/her world.
@@lesgrosgainz pretty sure she cannot revive them regardless on those events but turn their souls into wisps to stay on Azeroth, on archimonde subject didn’t malf use the horn to get wasps to burn out archimonde before he destroys the world tree? I might be mistaken so don’t take me on that.
@@Fightmypala Oh I agree that she can't (or at least won't revive them) my point is that she would have probably not save them from the burning tree (since she didn't act during previous event such as the Great Sundering). As for the fight vs Malfurion, yes the wisps came in help but that was not because Elune sent them (while it's probably true that the reason night elves turn into wisp instead of going to the SL is because of Elune)
@@lesgrosgainz You see, let's assume Elune would have had future vision(I don't know if she has,but I assume she has as she is a goddess).Maybe she just could let these events happen to result in another event that could led to fullfilling her purposes. For example, maybe she could see that Ardenweald will be in danger in the future,so she let all these happen to produce The Burning, that could save it.I know that none of these events have a direct implication between them, but,in theory, every situation in the future is a product of the present,no matter the simplicity of the bond between them. If,for example,Archimonde wouldn't have attacked The Tree, maybe everything in the future would take a different way and the matter of Teldrassil would have been a finalized case. So,contrary to appearances, maybe Elune knew that all these had to happen for a specific purpose.

Except the line "i have condemned my favorite children, for nothing". You can't just ignore that line, SHE was the one that sent the elves to the shadowlands. Also, you ignore that she said she sent the elves to her sister in response to her pleas for help, she did it intenttionally, she didnt just happen to have a bunch of souls lying around.
Ok. The story is somewhat reasonable. She cares more about her sister than her people. underestandable. However, 2 plotholes. 1- She didn't know the souls are going to the maw? Really? Is she stupid or something? If she was aware of what's going on, she couldn't have seen this? 2- She abandoned Tyrande before she could take her revenge on sylvanas. What was that about? That doesn't make sense. Anyways, in comparison to the shitshow which is shadowlands lore, having 2 plotholes only is actually decent.
She wasn't saying she let them burn, elune normally turns them into wisps which prevents them from crossing the veil. In this instance she didn't turn them into wisps and let them pass thinking they would go to ardenweald not realizing that all the souls were being diverted into the maw. Eune only had access to the shadowlands because her power was imbued into tyrande, a mortal, who then went through the portal. Thats why the the queen is both surprised, and angered to find elunes presence in her Grove.
This makes me feel incredibly ill. Burning to death isn't fun and to be sacrificed like that by your God just to be fuel and then they stuff it all up anyways because the souls are going to the Maw. I guess the path to hell truly is paved with good intentions. Edit: Elune needs to have her goddess status revoked.
@@ademord Well of course I'm ignorant if Blizzard didn't put it in the game, I don't buy the books unless you expect me to mind read. When I did the burning tree scenario in game all the npcs were running around screaming, they weren't sleeping and that's how I remember it.
Gotta cover-up the whole Sylvanas-committed-genocide somehow. "So we'll just blame part of it on Elune, why not?" that's Blizzard's line of thinking. God I hate this company so much. I only hate-follow WoW's storyline when I want to get angry.
I despair at the people who simply cannot read. Elune said, and I quote..."in the wake of tragedy sent forth the cascade of souls...". This doesn't mean she let the tree burn and night elves suffer to send souls to Ardenweald, it means that she made the best of a terrible situation to help her sister. She couldn't stop the burning, but she could direct the night elf souls to the afterlife rather than have them remain on Azeroth as wisps.
It also means she could have done exactly that... what’s your point you are not the writer so how are we suppose to know the intention. The fact is she’s horribly written and the fact she did absolutely nothing to help the night elves kinda furthers the point that she allowed it to happen.
@@miaxaria I'm not saying so as an insult but as to your question "How are we supposed to know the intention?", the original post already stated it and where the mix-up is: Goddesses don't speak street slang and people aren't used to the formal English they're using (if most commentary about it is the evidence). The direct inarguable modern English equivalent of her words is "A tragedy happened and I made the best of it.". The chief complaint is that if Elune can choose what happened to the souls of people who died there, she could have stopped the fire. That's too strong of an assumption and there was no indication that what happened was fine with her, even if it would turn out to be useful had it worked according to plan. Their articulation was way more exact on the particulars of their limitations than is being drawn from the scene by many people. A simple enough misunderstanding considering the inner workings and capabilities of deities is still arcane to observers so some things are left to the imagination, but a misunderstanding nonetheless.
What irks me is that the tree should be so insignificant. These are supposed to be the souls of ALL realities, losing a capital is literally nothing in comparison. If we were to compare to our world, losing a capital could be millions of people, but keep in mind that 1.8 people die per second. It would certainly be a spike, but almost 60 million people die per year.
Of late, for me, FFXIV's story has been, "Aw shit, I wanna see what comes next! I hope they do the cool thing I'm thinking of!" followed by "Holy crap, they did the cool thing I thought of, but ALSO a bunch of other cool stuff I didn't even imagine!" Of late, also for me, WoW's story has been, "Aw shit, I don't wanna see what comes next. I hope they don't butcher my beloved characters and setting." Followed by, "Wow, they did the awful thing I anticipated, but somehow made it an order of magnitude even worse than I could have figured on."
A logical development for Tyrande would be that she becomes a militant atheist hellbent to destroy all gods in all reality. She just witnessed how gods spend mortal lives as currency and allow millions to die for stupid reasons. But knowing blizzard writing she just returns to Ashenvale to do nothing.
Even if Elune didnt “killed” those night elves she interfered and damned their souls. If they stayed as Wisps they would have just spread around Kalimdor, instead she dragged them into the Shadowlands and the Maw.
A line needs correcting: 1:06 "then i have condemned my favorite children FOR NOTHING" Because she condemned them to a burning death anyways, as they were crops to be harvested, or livestock that should die to feed souls to the shadowlands... in my opinion, elune betrayed the night elves...
Wtf what kind of deity sends thousands of their worshippers to die just to feed their siblings?? Edit: in retrospect idk why I said that this is definitely one of the things deities would do to their followers.
Yeah Elune basically put a send to Ardenweild stamp on all the night elves dying, not aware the Archon was basically blue screening and nobody can figure out how to restart them.

"You have a choice.. but not really."

It happened with Jaina in BfA. She started out going full horde distrust and seemed to want revenge and helped assassinate Rastakhan. Then Daddy Thrall comes along and we’re all happy friends again.

Night Elves souls turning into wisp soulshape instead of going to Shadowlands is Elune’s work.
@wowalinbie She was sending them believeing they would go to Ardenweald. She didn’t know Death had been fucked and they go to the Maw
Wow what a downgrade for Elune. Should have just left her this mysterious deity outside the game's understanding.

Actually it sounds as ridiculous as any assumption or conspiracy theory about Elune.
Oh shit.... *Vietnam flashbacks of WandaVision*
In what way?
You're telling me the god of night elves couldn't think of a better decision than than to kill thousands of her children and burned their tree, and didn't even know about the maw. And the reaction of the winter queen hearing this instantly turned hatred into forgiveness
Women and children burning alive, screaming as they die horrible deaths.
Moon God: "Don't worry, you're going to make great fuel in the afterlife."
Zavaal: It would be a shame if someone were to Syphon their fuel
Athelarius !!! Once again you keep us all updated! Ty!
But she can't do much for cooked elves, but erasing their suffering before they die, and after, collect their souls before Kyrians send them to Shadowlands and the Arbiter.)
Edit : The new novel on Shadowlands seems to indicate that Elune don't usually make wisps with each dead Night elf anyway, so yeah...
Your feeling is off. Illidan knew what he was doing and he would make same choice again……it appears like Elune was duped …..

Someone once told me "revenge is a fools game" so elune obviously learned from rdr2
okay at first I thought Elune meant she was responsible for killing the night elves, but re-watching it made me realise she just meant she sent the souls of the night elves to Ardenweald, but they went to the maw instead? okay but they were dead, their souls would of come before the arbiter, and they would of been sent to the appropriate afterlife, so did Elune just assume she could circumvent that process and send them all straight to Ardenweald? or is she just trying to take credit for something she had no control over.
in saying this, night elves do have the innate ability to stay on Azeroth as wisps, so did Elune stop this process and instead send their souls to the shadowlands? not specifically to Ardenweald but the whole of the shadowlands? but if she heard their pleas, wouldn't their pleas be that they aren't getting any new souls and they all go to the maw? then why would she just send more souls to the maw.
any way you look at it, it doesn't make sense, they wanted to bring Elune into the plot so people wouldn't lose interest in the story, but Elune remains as one of the most Elusive (get it) figures in Warcraft lore, but they're just taking away what makes her special.
look at what they did to the titans, now they're just raid bosses.

None of this makes sense. The lore has gone straight down the toilet.
Reading comments about this clearly tells me people aren't listening to what Elune is saying. She didn't cause or want Teldrassil to burn, but even a tragedy can be used for a greater good and she thought she could save Ardenweald
There are still missing puzzles and we have to wait in order to understand all what happen and why. It's a long term story.
this is why the night fae will always be my favorite covenant.

I'm not crying you are!
I mean, if Elune can grant Tyrande the Starfall ability then surely Elune can make it rain a little with the help of druids.

@L M it goes for almost any game. WoW lore became unbearable and instead of anticipation people feel dread when it comes to WoW story news.
Come on man, if we can send mail instantly to our guildmates, Elune can confirm her package of souls arrived to her sister.
Yes, she would go all Cratos on the gods, and have Illidan helpe here.
Even if Elune didnt “killed” those night elves she interfered and damned their souls. If they stayed as Wisps they would have just spread around Kalimdor, instead she dragged them into the Shadowlands and the Maw.
reading the comments made me realize the agony of the fans is what fuels the writers souls of Warcraft 😂
A line needs correcting: 1:06 "then i have condemned my favorite children FOR NOTHING"
Because she condemned them to a burning death anyways, as they were crops to be harvested, or livestock that should die to feed souls to the shadowlands... in my opinion, elune betrayed the night elves...
