73 was the year of bullshit emission standards. That 455 was 250 hp compared to the 1970 Trans Am 400 had 385 hp.

Gross vs net. The SD 455 was probably about as fast as the 70 400 Ram Air. Had 2 full points lower compression.

There was a guy in high school that had one of these. He thought it was quick. Funny how he never wanted to run me in my 70 Plymouth Fury 1 440 police pursuit package car or my friends 67 Mustang coupe 428 Cobra Jet with a 570 lift cam and 350 gear Detroit locker 9 inch. 77-78 Whitman High School Bethesda Md.

You can't compare the two. 1973 Pontiac V8s were the beginning of the emission control era (although rudimentary) and the other two cars had virtually no, if any pollution control. Different times although not that far apart. A lot changed in 1973 from 1967 or even 1970.

Also neither the Plymouth nor the Mustang were stock from the factory, both were reworked outside the factory.

@@googleusergp exactly you answered your own question why the stock Trans Am wouldn't race you or the mustang. Bone stock against none factory upgraded vehicles. No comparison.

73s are one of my favorites. This one looks to be in OK condition, and sure it'll move quickly, (depending on price).
Not a fan of white, automatics, or especially AC equipped cars. (Not needed in NE). The underhood is so cramped with all that crap on the passenger side. You southern drivers...."my sympathies". I was stationed in Ark in the 70s, and get it. And we see the Edlbrock aluminum heads, going into...what?, no hedders? Are they RA manifolds at least? And lastly, the HO stickers on the scoop? (Funny stuff). But another class act on the video anyway. Well done. Hope you get what you want.
