An Entire Year Living Outdoors. (Chainsaw-Milling Trees to Build Whatever I Please!) #24

- This is a one year mash-up of my experience living in a tent, running chainsaws and building ridiculous stuff in the Northern Michigan wilderness.
Chainsaw milling, camping, shooting, knife throwing, you name it, Ringworm now has it. If it's something guys like to do, I've spent all year- mostly alone- doing it. It's not exactly homesteading- there is not and will never be power or water- it's way better!
Because I’ve gotten so many questions about the gear that I use on the channel, here are some of the most important pieces I use every day:
My Favorite Piece of Gear- Chainsaw Helmet amzn.to/3uuW5xB
Granberg Chainsaw Mill amzn.to/3cdRXvn
How I Keep the Mosquitoes Away! amzn.to/3frenvh
Big, Black Log-Peeling Knife - Becker BK9 amzn.to/3oZIeOH
The Trailer I Use Behind My 4 Wheeler- Yutrax amzn.to/3fvO8DK
Bug Net Rooms I Use amzn.to/3uwOK0l
Heaters in My Tent and the Deer Castle amzn.to/3frQ7Jh
Thank you all so much for supporting this crazy endeavor! Without you folks donating to Surviving Ringworm, I wouldn't be able to even consider staying out here in the wilderness a second year making videos. You seriously blow my mind!

Living vicariously thru your videos is one of the pleasures of life. Watching all the things you do excites a person to try to do something different with their life. Thank you.
38 minutes and 26 seconds of perfectly encapsulating "boys will be boys" lmao
Two complete morons...
I was still laughing at the “fat vampire” comment when he KO’d me with “that’s what god said about me-every word of it.” Can’t wait for the next episode of ‘Laurel & Hardy go North of the Wall.’
I lost it when i seen him building the candy machine again. Damb Bears.
Just a magical carpet ride into the minds of a couple of really psychotic craftsmen (& Lady).
Great work all.
You guys are seriously funny together! Thanks for that mash-up; it was entertaining.
"gorgeous gorgeous dahling" after unloading a clip into a sign. Truly couple goals.
I’d love to see the cost breakdown video. Also a Safety Fourth video with all your bloopers and near misses/close calls. Love then channel!
Somehow there haven't been too many near misses! Don't know how that's possible. I'm generally a guy that goes through boxes of band-aids that this year I have used exactly ONE.
The gods must be pleased with what I am doing out here...
After my left arm got numb , working above my head, years later learned it was spinal column 3-6 - worn......Love what you're doing !!!
Love what you have created for yourself. Carry on!
Thank you , it is worth the money, can't wait to see more !!! 😀lol
I loved this! Your living the dream man! Wish my body wasn't in turmoil. I'm trying to get better so I can live like you do! Out in nature building whatever I want. God bless!
Worm I'll give it to , you are living in a Dream come True ..At 58 I just retired and Thanks to you, you have given me the imperatives to start in Pjoneer.Tn.. Great Job .
.peace and kove
I watch your show all the time.I work allot. But your my go to.I love camping.
“Oh, I thought you were just gonna say pudding.” 13:30
Hey wilderness pal, that idea you had of building a 20ft. deck, is really interesting.
And the reason is, I just may be living in a treehouse within 1 to 3 years?
The higher the better for me too, knowing, it can be every dangerous, but also, extremely satisfying, while getting the spacious view and the other really important things, other than being isolated from humans [ ;) ], is watching the wild animals roam around your property.
Thank you again, and stay safe, because you do scare me the way you flaunt danger. ;)
You guys are hilarious. Living the Dream!
Dude...that was hilarious! I've watched a lot of your videos here and there, but this puts them all into perspective. Well done. Looking forward to more.
Here’s to year number 2 🍺
Congratulations on living there 1 full year at ringworm by yourself! You are my kind of crazy. Stay safe and keep the fun videos coming!
Cheers,
Steve, ottawa canada
I am committed to doing similar lifestyle. Discussed with my wife and we are saving everything we absolutely do not need to spend so we can buy property. I do not use financing so probably in two years I will have my land payment. Yay!
In my humble opinion, that is absolutely the way to go. Save the money first so that when you do get out there you don't have to live with that monthly payment always in the back of your mind.
Too funny man ,sent more
I liked it.....I really liked all the bits and pieces... you do amazing work... Thank you
man you 2 are funny as hell.i'm glad i found your channel.
Wow what da lovely lady and those kids wow. reminds me of my kids when camping 55 yrs ago . keep on trucking guy
Can't wait to see yr two keep them coming my friend 👍👍
Who knows what might happen‽‽‽
Where has RUclips been hiding this channel from me?? Awesome! I also live in the UP, and love it. Not in a tent...but an Ice Castle fish house, pump my water out of the ground by hand...etc. I'll keep watching and see if I can figure out where in the UP you are. Superiorland!! :)
Yooper Ice Castle Fish House?? We def need to see a pic of that and your neighborhood near the Backwaters and Back Roads!
@@FritchFritch I'm in Ontonagon;) the Ice Castles are pretty much instant northern climate tiny houses! We're getting dumped on over here right now, and temps are in the negatives, only winter we've had so far this year. Can't wait for paradise season. Any idea what part of the UP ringworm is? I'm guessing Luce County??
I had to google it... That thing looks gourmet! Nicer than any place I've even been allowed into.
@@survivingringworm2202 Can you give me a hint on where in the UP you are? PM me? All my contact info is in all my video descriptions. Maybe even interview you this summer?
The good life!
Awesome video guys. Loves it. Best thing I did today was hit subscribe. Big shout out from Newfoundland, Canada.
That was excellent!
Better than anything on the Telly vision!
Yay!
Double thumbs up glad your happy with life worth living
Looking forward to the next episode. 👍👍🇺🇸🇧🇻
This is great I couldn't stop watching. Every clip was all the behind the scene stuff I was hoping to see one day. Keep it up
Hello from Albania!
Wow. That has to be a new record for Ringworm!
Yes, yes, yes, my favorite channel!! Keep it up bro. Me and the family love what ya do!!
Awesome! Thank you!
We want to see anything to build or want to show us bro. I watch your videos and get up and go build shit outside it’s like fuel ⛽️!!
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Keep em coming . I've really enjoyed it !
Im glad you did this love the videos bud stay safe
That was awesome.
I love any video you put out, man!
Ty for a great year of funny and entertaining videos! Ty for sharing your adventures with us!
Awesome video you guys!
Love every sec of this video. Nice job👍
This. Is. Totally. Awesome!!! Highlights: 1) Raw bacon down the hatch (disgusting); 2) M&M "house"/dispenser (wouldn't expect anything less); 3) the overall ad-lib commentary and vid editing! Love, love, love it, Ry! We miss you!!
I’d just watched Sara one day earlier go through every pack of bacon at the grocery store looking for the one with the least fat/most meat. Then T and I are sitting out here looking for the strips that are 100% fat and eating them barely warmed...
where did you learn all your woodworking skills? the tree house turned out pretty nice. the woods is your playground.
Good stuff.
Great video
Lovin' it Brother... Lovin' it!
I absolutely love this video
That was a really cool video. Shared it with my son who would love it even more!
Very nice !!!!
Great Clips !!!!!
Great job. Enjoyed this. Good edits.
Would be cool to see a compilation of tree cutting close calls and learnings.
Happy One Year Anniversary, yous guys! So fun to watch your journey from the start and seeing your progression. Love your sense of humor. Keep up the great videos. XD
Thanks so much!!
Lmao. Love your vids. Always make me laugh. Inspiring also. Would enjoy spending a week there with ya.
Would love to see a video on approx costs for the equipment. Including you saw mill set up.
Coming up shortly! Thought I'd just stroll around camp and price out everything here and tell how one might do it even cheaper.
If I was in the are I’d def come camp w you guys! It’s be a blast!
Been watching back episodes. Such fun. Hopefully you skin clearing up good. Love all the neat projects.
It comes and goes but one thing is for sure, I mis-named my property and RUclips channel!
You guys are an inspiration for us at our camp. Wish I could post (or send you) some pictures of our camp. Keep up the great work.
I know! It’s a shame you can include attachments in comments. Have wanted to do that many times.
Great content man! We really enjoy it! Keep it up
Thanks! Will do!
you guys' are funny. enjoy the videos have fun
Great fun video .Thanks for sharing.
I would be interested in your daily, monthly cost video as well as looking forward to the project builds .
Noted!
you people are having too much fun ,okok ill subscribe
Great seeing u again great video glad your not frozen
I am! But I’ll survive...
Will be good to know how to manage $ be free and enjoy freedom in the ringworm . Also how to make it possible for others .?
Good luck on your new year at the ringworm !!
Thank you
I reallllyyy love your videos! Me and my friends would like to see or watch you build an lookout /tree house tower in a high tree.
You are in luck! I got a tree stand (like for deer hunting) that I am going to use to stand on to cut the tops off some trees 20’ up! Going to build a deck first. If I don’t die, then a really high gourmet tree fort.
" Too Much Fun " - Thanks
Nice move with those knives and I love your mail file:)
Of course I nailed the knife drop on the first take.
+11 points for “mail file.”
@@survivingringworm2202:)
Mayhem rampant in the forest! Thanks for the video; many chainsaw tips and helpful information. The dog is cute! Like the idea of the chainsaw milling guide/end plates and your plate steel hold-downs. Good idea! Sure glad you're eccentric! Take care! I really enjoy your videos.....
Mayhem abounds at The Worm!
Glad you were able to find something of interest in this video. I just watched it again yesterday as well. Lots of good memories!
"Thats what God said about me" I choked on my coffee when he said that.
Y'all know how to have fun
I’m very practiced!
I’m super interested in the budgeting video
Coming soon.
I would definitely like to see a video about how much it costs to live out there
Love your videos... you are living my dream lol. I look for you guys on a daily basis, as I could just binge-watch your videos, do you ever do any live? Do you have to get permits to build anything out there? Thank you for sharing your past year with us, it was and is amazing, I do hope you bring us another exciting year!
Thanks! I'd like to be putting then out more than once every two weeks, but in the winter none of my batteries work so I have to leave Ringworm to edit. Spring is right around the corner tho (at least for people outside of Michigan!)
Never did anything live. Don't even know how that works really. You mean here on RUclips?
No permits. Not building anything "permanent" so to speak.
Yo...the LIVE bit is a really good idea. Makes me think of the “Impractical Jokers - Dinner Party” episodes they’ve been doing since most of their usual stuff won’t fly during Covid. Could be fun!
No Comment from The Syndicate On What To Build.
(But A Octagon Pavila Shape) Would Be Nice To Build
Above Ground By Three Differentiated Feet..
Im watching you build that "hot sauce box" confused as to why its so big. Then I see you unloading that cooler! Wtf, thats so many sauces!!! lmaoooooooooo
Ha! I do seem to have a problem with hot sauce. Guess I treat it like some people do wine or craft beer. I just have to try them all!
I Just found your channel. Looks like I have a years worth of videos to catch up on LOL.
Nope. Just one year!
Would love to see a video on your day to day expenses. Also what you did before this, so that you are able to afford this. Thanks! My husband and I love watching your videos and distracting ourselves from the real world.
Sounds good! I’ve been doing stuff like this the majority of my adult life. I do whatever job I can find at the time and save every penny then stay out in the woods until those funds give out. I’m a master and not spending! And if you don’t spend, you don’t have to work (as much.)
Hi Stranger! My kids and I LOVE watching your videos. I miss your face.
Hay!
What kind of mother lets her impressionable children’s watch such drivel anyway‽
Great vid! I'd love to hear about what the costs are for getting setup and upkeep, thanks!
Sweet. Thanks for the comment. Think I'll put a vid together about the $ of living out here.
Wait. One more thing. The coffee cup. Noice.
If whittling that didn’t mess up my elbows and wrists, I’d make another and send it to you!
Lol this video is hilarious
Lol was all good bro
I have to say... LMAOF! Excellent montage.
That's a lot of stupidity all at once, no?
@@survivingringworm2202 There is a fine line between "stupidity" and having a hell of a lot of fun! Keep up the good work.
You inspired me to fix my chainsaws 😄
Glad to hear it! They have to be the most universal wood working tool on the planet. If you have access to gasoline.
@@survivingringworm2202 I've been trying to find ethanol free gas because I don't use my chainsaws much.
Have you experienced any differences as far as effect on fuel lines and gas with ethanol?
Both my chainsaws had fuel lines that turned hard as a rock, and I have only used gas with ethanol in them. I'm hoping they will last longer with the ethanol free gas.
@@saltyshellback I feel that ethanol-free gas def does better in storage for long periods...
Have you ever thought about a tent within a tent, to try to keep your sleeping bag from getting wet, because it touches the wall of the tent? Or I guess you could just use plastic or a tarp, to make a cover above your tent. Not touching it anywhere. Is the bag still going to get wet because of condensation? Yeah, I know, I'm still trying to solve problems here. LOL Hey! Maybe wrap the bottom end of the sleeping bag in plastic?
Yeah. It’s condensation from just being alive. Whatever catches your breath gets damp which is pretty much everything inside and outside of the sleeping bag.
@@survivingringworm2202 Well there goes MY ideas! LOL I guess you can't just stop breathing at night, right? Well..... Not if you want to SURVIVE ringworm. LOL
I'd like to see you turn your tent stand into some kinda functional rain catching art installation built around your tent that plays soothing sounds like music when it rains.
It might sound better than the the scary loud rain. Oh and make it shoot flames...
Holy crap. You, good sir, are a bleedin' genius. I love the way your mind filters out the schmutz and grips tightly to the FANTASTIC ideas.
@@survivingringworm2202 I'm curious about the water source and where it comes from. If possible, I'd like to see it excavated and expanded into some pond/stream/river. Possibly making some kind of hydro power of some sort. You can power moving parts for the art installation like a wooded Small World at Disneyland. A tall order but it'll keep you busy lol ;)
This is like real life Minecraft lol, there is a video about the easiest way to make a cabin , where you stand logs with 3 inch grooves in them for and then taper ends of logs to lay in between the standing ones.
There is also a cordless Framing nailer made by Paslode that could solve the drill and screws method. Good luck guys , you may soon want to move there permanently with all the crap going on in our world
I believe I’ve seen that. But is it the funnest?
@@survivingringworm2202 It makes for larger structure an easier task , if I find the link I will send it . The gentleman has a RUclips channel called " Project Highlander" for making fast cabins with minimal tools.
@@survivingringworm2202 Project Highlander Cabins would also be a little more bear proof too lol.
I was thinking. You could build a shelter for your tent for the winter if ya wanted? It might keep your tent from the winds at least
Would like to at least make a roof. Wind isn’t a problem here in the forest but would be nice to forgo the rain and snow load.
@@survivingringworm2202 yea that’s kind of what I was thinking of or maybe even a danno I think it’s called? It’s a shelter with three walls. It would keep you dryer than you already are. They have them in Sweden I think? I will have to do more research but i figured since you already have the deck it would be an easy build just the same.
Is there know place for a small solar charger to be placed where it would charge
You two , I mean you know this , right ? Or you wouldn’t have , ya know ... That you’re funny . Usually guys like this (yes , I typed it) think they’re funny and you find yourself courtesy-laughing from another country where you can’t be seen bc you’re ‘nice’ . With you guys , I can drop that bit and laugh , easily .
Well, thanks! But we both think we are morons and generally only make each other laugh. My Dad once said to me, "you know Tito isn't like this when you aren't around. Quit antagonizing him!" Then from the other room I hear Tito say, "awwww, but I LIKE to be antagonized!"
Love the content. Was wondering, I have notice a chain saw blade sharpener in a couple of episodes. Looks compact and simple to operate. Would you be so kind as to identify the brand and perhaps other pertinent info? Thanks
Hey Peter.
It was one of the cheapest amazon had to offer and it’s been great!

yes pleas do a video on the cost
Coming up! (As soon as I get feeling back in my fingers...)
3.27 we’re going to do this ‘cause we can …., yes I do relate
Guys get it many of our partners don’t or don’t want to.
Damn you, now you got me thinking about buying a saw smaller than my 372XP...
Why? What's wrong with that saw?
@@survivingringworm2202 absolutely nothing. Just a tad big for doing small jobs
Mantap....men
I do get motion sick! But I’ll give it a go!
Even nature’s under a lot of pressure.....so a little vertigo is not so bad
It could be worse, at least my pits don’t smell like hamburger
And while on the topic I do enjoy mustard
Are they still making rain loud?
Upon review I’m thinking that spring may be the optimal time
I just had a thought.....fast forward 30 years. What does ringworm look like? Tree castle still livable 5sure
Survival of ringworm (no vomit)
I can always count on you to leave a quality comment!
I've watched the "even nature's under a lot of pressure" clip at least 100 times and it still cracks me up.
EVERY time of year is sub-optimal here at Ringworm. If that ever changed I don't know what I'd do with myself.
Ringworm in 30 years? Who knows. But it will have no knees and its two stroke oil bill will be astronomical.
