The 2024 Thirlmere Festival of Steam; 1 Hour of Steam Trains! Ft. 3001, 3265, 4001 & 6029

Between the 18th and 19th of May 2024 the annual Thirlmere Festival of Steam took place at the NSW Rail Museum. The event is touted as one of the premiere rail heritage events in New South Wales and allows for rides and photographic opportunities of various steam locomotives along the former Picton-Mittagong Loop Line. This year the event was attended by steam locomotives 3001, 3265, 6029, and diesel locomotive 4001.
In this video we visit the Thirlmere Festival of Steam on both days of the event. Day 1 mainly sees me trackside at various locations along the line. 4001 & 6029 operated shuttles between Thirlmere and Picton, while 3001 & 3265 operated shuttles between Thirlmere and Buxton. For the first time since 2018 the event also saw some night trains run with 3001, 3265 & 4001 operating two trips to Picton and back. We see one of these trips arriving and departing Thirlmere.
I used day 2 to ride on the trains and visit the museum, so all the clips we see are taken around Thirlmere station and the museum grounds.
