    Damn, I thought I'd be on the fence at $100, but at $200, that's a hard nope, especially considering that for 100 more, you could get an Arcade 1up cabinet. Yeah, it's bigger, but it's also significantly better.

      At least the Neo-Geo mini has a functional analog stick that is not going to cramp or stress the wrist to use and it has 40 games preinstalled to use which is better than the SNK switch cart that comes preinstalled with 20 and free DLC for 15 more. Sorry but 40 games on something that remotely resembles how they were originally played is more worth the price. And it doesn't need to hookup to the TV, it just needs a power source, be it a wall outlet or a car adapter to USB port.

      Numskull and Replicate have been selling expensive $100-200 1/6th scale cabs for years now. I don't think they sell very well at all. I Kickstarted Replicade's Centipede and Tempest, and regret Tempest because the rotary dial is garbage. Centipede is OK, but only because I got it for $85. Had I paid the MSRP of $150 I wouldn't have been happy with it.

      The Switch Lite is a practical, pedestrian product for playing games. Numskull's units are art pieces meant to celebrate the golden age of the arcade and the striking visual tour-de-force that defined it. In other words, the former is a toy, the latter a way to preserve the past.

    • @Mr.Pacario
      @Mr.Pacario 5 лет назад

      It's important to note that these are meant primarily for display purposes--a tangible way to celebrate the lost art of arcade cabinet design and stylings from thirty years ago. The cabinet is wood, the joystick is a micro-switch, the art is a perfect duplication of the original--these are celebrations of a nigh, dying form. First of all, great video as usual. Second, I've seen reviews on these types of smaller upright arcade games before, but no one mentions if there is some sort of equivalent to the set of DIP switches that are on the back of every arcade game. They control things such as how many guys you start the game with, what score you have to achieve to get awarded a free guy, etc. Do these smaller versions have something equivalent or are you just stuck with the settings out of the box?

    As soon as i saw how big Jesus's hands looked when playing this it was a no go for me. Ive got the height issue of this being too small for me and not practical enough. If its meant to not be portal but still is made that small, i dont see it as anything but a novelty. Which sucks, because i actually would play something regularly like this if it were a little bigger, it just feels like its the perfect thing for a kid's gameroom that you want to get interested in classic gaming.
    Are these the same things that are out now in other variations, but these versions are smaller? I thought ive seen something similar to this being sold in a Walmart with like a MK2 version or i could be remembering the game wrong, i just thought there was already something like this on the market that is a little bigger but not exact replica size but bigger still than this.

    I love my Pac Man quarter arcade. Saw the videos when they were released and liked the look of them, (as well as seeing a mockup of the production model at EGX 2018).
    Didn't think I'd get one as a bit pricey for me, but they had one in a game shop near where I work in the UK, limited edition number 00072 (I was born in 1972) and it was about £20 cheaper than I'd seen them everywhere. I had an old phone knocking about doing nothing and a voucher for that shop, so ended up trading in the old phone, using the voucher and putting £5 towards it.
    I was very glad I did; have always loved Pac Man and as I live in a small flat, I have no room for full size cabs, (as much as I'd love a few). This is ideal for me and the Pac Man model plays very well considering its' small size.
    From what I've read in the comments, I may be in the minority, but I think they're very nice little machines and I'm very happy with my decision to get my Pac Man.
