Why Is Notorious Quantum Code Scam Ad With Michael Crawford Still Running In 2023? (Reaction Video)

  • In 2016 a group of people created a series of promo ads for fake investment companies that made false promises of unlimited profits that were 100% guaranteed. The CFTC investigated and brought wire fraud charges in 2018 - yet RUclips is still serving up these Quantum Code ads in summer 2023. This irritated me, so I thought I would make fun of it. I react in voiceover only, as nobody needs to see me making exaggerated facial expressions at the camera as I hear "Toy Boy" by Sinitta for the first time.
    Join made-up CEO Michael Crawford as he jets off from Salem airport in his own private plane with assistant Tasha to his Quantum Code company headquarters, flies past Hawaii, lands back at Salem, and drives to his rented office! Meet his entire company staff (four people), some of whom he claims he brought from his previous company where they developed his software 10 years ago... so they must all have been child geniuses when they were in New York, to judge by their ages now! Meet two entirely convincing customers who give glowing testimonials about the Quantum Code software in the most peculiar accents! Marvel as Michael's Programming Director changes surname before your very eyes! Don't miss this truly unbelievable opportunity to turn $250 to $0 in a matter of minutes - 100% guaranteed!!!
    Gizmodo article about this scam and the people behind it, which made me feel rather more sympathetic to the actors who took the job and later had regrets:
    gizmodo.com/scam-theater-insi...
    After writing my voiceover I came across this article by Marcus who drew some of the same conclusions long before I did. He also shows what would happen if you were to provide the scammers with your contact details:
    www.workfromhomewatchdog.com/...
    Coffeezilla's discussion regarding that popular financial journal:
    www.jordanharbinger.com/coffe...
    Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Charges Eleven Individuals and Five Entities in Nationwide Binary Options Fraud Ring (2018):
    www.cftc.gov/PressRoom/PressR...
    One of the things that really annoyed me? This ad video was shown alongside one of the big-name scambaiters' videos! They could stop that if they wanted to, simply by changing their AdSense settings.
    I was interested to find that many other "reviews" of the system (and whether it was or was not a scam) turned out to be Trojan-Information articles - by which I don't mean their pages carry viruses, but that they are designed to flog other "safe" (yeah right) investments/affiliate marketing under the guise of informing you about Quantum Code. Or they unaccountably drew the conclusion that it is, like, totally legit, which is good enough for me!!! For example, the video description on this video of the further adventures of Not-Michael-Crawford at the defunct Terran Capitals filmed around the same time as Quantum Code:
    • Terran Capital Softwar...
    Visual content in this video: Quantum Code original scam promo video; BBC; Midjourney.
    Yes, that Sinitta thing up there was an obscure reference to the 1987-88 BBC Radio 4 series Saturday Night Fry - well done for spotting it.

    I like the fact that Mr. Crawford claims to be very rich but he just couldn't afford a private jet where his head doesn't hit the ceiling.

    youtube served me this advert today and I watched about 15 minutes of it silently laughing at how "scammy" this is. I searched for him in youtube and hey preso! Do people actually fall for these kind of videos?

      Thank you! It was a bit outside my comfort zone, but the end result worked out okay. There will be a few more videos like this in the coming months - I found that at least two others created by the same gang of fraudsters are still running. But the next one will be about a totally legit investment ad, not a scam.

    This is just an affiliate video btw, they get the name / phone and email - that then goes to companies doing trading - who call the clients and then sign them up for trading. There's no actual software - that's why you don't need to "pay anything". By the time the clients have signed up, with their 250 dollars, they mostly have forgotten why they signed up in the first place. Obviously, it's not e-toro or robinhood paying for these leads, if you know what I mean.

    Yes, why does RUclips endorse this, that is the question. On a side note, when Cessna Citation N62WD reaches its destinations, the overcast sky suggests it is the same airport it departed from. BTW, the date of Cindy's statement of money made "today" at 29:00 is "Thu 05.08.16" (hmm, 8 May 16 was a Sunday, and 5 August was a Friday), while Mark's balance date at 31:36 is "2016-06-15", and Michael's own balance shows the amount of money made up to "30/06/2016" (36:35).

    • @palimpsest2011
      @palimpsest2011  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your comments. I only realised it was the same airport about a fortnight after I finished my video! The scammers have a very loose relationship with Time which is even more evident in Steven Abrahams' Tesler Investments video...

    Hello! It seems the Major is taking a well-deserved day off. Thank you for a great informative video. The loophole that you don't have to pay him anything is that the software itself is free. He's always said the software is free and that's his safety-net. So I guess he's not lying about that. All the software on Google Play is free, but you often have to pay for certain upgrades and perks. That's how those companies make money. I'm not sure how these Bitcoin and trading companies make money though. Must be some kind of pyramid scheme.

    • @palimpsest2011
      @palimpsest2011  9 месяцев назад +1

      The Major is still up to his usual mischief, but I like to leave the call recordings to marinate for a few months before making my videos, so the scammers are less likely to make the connection. I think the references to the software being free just aimed to persuade the scam victims by repeating the claim so many times. As for how some of these outfits make their money, there is a note on a site associated with another variant of the Quantum scammers' software that says "Please note that [Company X] receives advertising fees for directing users to open an account with the brokers/advertisers and/or for driving traffic to the advertiser website."

    Thank you for helping his future potential victims. I actually got another film. He said I was one of 42 that got the offer. It is not so easy when you don't really know English. He said no money then he said it cost US$ 250. Then I got suspicious.

You did miss one thing however, the video is a bit blurry, but when "so called" Michael enters "his" building from the "rented" car, the sticker of Quantum Code on the front door, looks like it's peeling off on the right side! It actually looks like it was cut crookedly as well! That's special!
