It is not just the Honda workers, but all the associated parts suppliers who have taken a hit as well. On a personal level, I understand your anger about brexiters. I am a white 67 year old male who spent 13 years growing up in countries in Africa (Malawi, Zimbabwe and South Africa). I take people as I find them - not based on colour or creed, but as a fellow human.
The EU response was: we will take a small bit of a hit, the integrity of the EU is more important than some short term economic damage. And brexiteers failed to understand (on top of everything else they fail to understand) that a large part of the UK exporting less goods than it imported from the EU was necessity as the UK didn't have the manufacturing capacity to make those products in the volume required or didn't produce them in the first place. The UK effectively can't produce enough food to sustain its population, and not everyone in the UK wants to drive a Honda Civic, Nissan Qashqai or any car produced by Ford, Land Rover, Jaguar or Vauxhall, some people prefer affordable, reliable, well-equipped vehicles.

You are right about Nissan. Gov support is necessary to offset the post-brexit higher operating cost in the highly cost-competitive automotive industry. Also, consumer prices will rise by some 5% due to loss of frictionfree trade with the neighboring nations. This in turn will provoke wage strikes at Nissan in the coming years. Post-brexit, wages will be under pressure to be kept low and workers rights will be stripped further in order to keep the cost of work lower in order to maintain the competitiveness of exports. There is no way exporting firms can stay competitive if they give in to wage demands that are legitimate and needed to support the higher cost of living. This is a major reason why Brexit economist Patrick Minford said "You have to run down manufacturing and agriculture, like you have done with the coalmines." Capice?
Oh, I forgot to mention exchange rate risk. It hurts every exporting company. Increases cost of operation by 2% or more. And it makes profits unpredictable. Cornwall is a deprived area because so many of the housing are people second homes so they do not bring income into the local communities in small shops supermarkets and other retail stores because they only visit a few weeks every year. 51.89% of Cornwall voted for Brexit. Cutting your nose off to spite your face rings a big bell for this one. Cornwall gets more funding than anywhere else in Britain: the county has received more than £1bn of aid from the EU over the past 15 years, and was due a further £400m more by 2020. This works out as more than €1000 per person. West Wales was also set to receive more than €1000 per person in EU funding by 2020. The Government has said they will not be honouring what they were given from the EU.

Funny thing is that many conservatives claim that they are Christians and they keep voting for Tories. What Bible writes? Mathew 7:17-20: "... Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them." It is clearly written that you judge by results. Decades of Tory government lead to austerity, raised inequality, real estate prices growth, health care system got worse, etc. etc. But people keep voting Tories. This is beyond me. BTW, I am atheist but still, one of the management principles is: "past performance is a good predictor of the future performance". :)
Once you've asked the vast majority of leave voters five or so questions about their reasons why they voted the way they did and debunk the nonsense they come up with, the last remaining thing they tend to cling onto tends to be "too many foreigners". Though this is more xenophobia, nationalism or jingoism than racism in its utterance, what they mostly try to avoid saying but really mean is "too many black and brown faces and languages I don't understand".
The decision to close Honda was made LONGGGGG Before the Brexit vote, even if we remained in the EU Honda was leaving regardless of the out come.. I’m afraid you are Incorrect
Ofc you can provide evidence for your claim from ... say ... before 2016. Like more than 5 years ago. If a company decided to close down a plant, they don't wait more than 5 years to do so. That would be a waste of money, so you need to back your claim about LONGGGGG before Brexit vote up with evidence. Even more so, as your LONGGGGG claim sounds like years before. So 10 years ago? 15? Provide a proof or stop pretending you know what you talk about; because what you say is not how the _real_ world works.
Long before?? Ah so that why they invested £200m in 2015 and decided to build the at that time new 5 doors civic not only for UK and Europe but for Japan as well?? Where is the logic in that? It was the Honda that got the fist in their stomach with the referendum.
Why would they? Honda is an international company and it's in their interests to be present of all the trading blocks of the world. If you're not in one then tough titty - you have to pay for them to remain in your third country status.
And u have to pay Nissan, all their brexit related costs. U could directly pay the workers, it’s not a real benefit for the country. And what most don’t know about the Japan trade deal, first,u don’t export a lot anyway, and u r only get the leftovers from the EU, if the EU uses their whole export quoters they agreed on, u get nothing left to export. The 20k drivers already found other jobs, the EU is big and no borders or 🚢. Germany alone could use 20k more drivers. And they have to do nothing to get there or live there

fun fact is that there isn't anymore any new colonies and protectorates the British can count for to plunder and exploit like Australia, Canada, Usa or India ecc.
We still have the Falklands! Not quite sure what we can plunder and exploit there, penguins maybe. We could replace chicken with penguins. Maybe....
@@harryfaber there's sheep there too and the fishing grounds are uncontested (except maybe by Argentina)
@@0cypher0 Shame Boris won't be able to build a tunnel so we can all pop there to get some lamb for Sunday dinner.
Instant karma for those racists!!!
Nearly all the car companies in the world are going bust because of overproduction, regardless of brexit. Look at government debt, most countries are sinking in debt and so are most people.
I miss my home town but not what its become. Between SBC and our missing MPs the place has gone to shit. The same people who trashed the town also said leaving the EU was a good idea. Buckland and Tomlinson met with the Honda response group twice in the space of five years. I get why people voted leave, they were promised that it would be the answer to all their imagined fears. What I cannot understand is why those people are still following the people who lied to them? Is it really just to enable racists? Love and respect Swindon.
Birds of the same feather flock together, you know😅
I come from Swindon some of the Honda workers still think Brexit was a great thing 🤔it beggers believe Swindon will survive it's geographically placed well but Brexit won't help it's a disaster 👍
Another great video. I'm only 31 so I'll definitely be around to see these benefits... haha
I've seen a few of your videos in the last couple of days. Have you ever considered standing as an mp? You have a great way of speaking to people and cutting through the BS.
Truth is, Nissan is majority owned by the French government - so guess who gets most of the dosh being given to Nissan for remaining in Sunderland ?
That must go down well at the Brexit table.
It's not a majority ownership, it's effectively 15% of 43%
@@0cypher0 OK, thanks for straightening that out (I was winging it a bit, to make a point) - fact is, we're still giving money away, to the French govt.
Dead right mate!
New sub here mate. Nice work.
cant unscramble a scrambled egg . Like you cant undo Brexit now.
Swindon town centre is none existent as well.. Most of the shops are shut too
Great content, just subscribed. Even if we rejoin the single market investment won’t be forthcoming. Think about it we are so politically unstable now why would a foreign company invest hundreds of millions into this country when we are 1 election away from leaving again when those companies have other countries they can set up. It’ll take decades for this country to recover! We were forecast to overtake Germany as the largest market in the EU by 2030 before the referendum and now look at us. 40 years of progress destroyed overnight
its crazy, even I understood that the nhs waiting list was because the gouverment diddnt increase nhs buget by the same as the inflation rates. dont take a maths expert to know that. so when somone says its because of over use? it boils my brain, i have cystic fibrosis. and im in hospital 1-2 times a year (no the last year because of new drugs) but i've seen probably 10-15 nurses and doctors leave and lose there jobs, the ward is probably 20% less staffed than i used to be. thats the real reason it cant keep up with demand. people dont wana work there anymore because of money cuts, not over use, unedjucated people boil my blood, especially when they dont even use the nhs and still say these things
More Anti democratic clap trap go gb
Really like your vids hello from Ireland going shopping now with the boss she takes so long with all the choices on the shelf after we might go to KFC for some chicken on mc Ds for a milkshake in the afternoon I might apply for one of them jobs in financial services popping up all over Dublin maybe people need to cut back on X factor or dancing on ice and watch a little more news from a good scorch
Vaccine rollout was better than eu.
Nissan is 40% french owned. They send their best to boris and wait for the next 100 million? pounds to roll over the channel
Honda is a tragedy because they make cars that don't suit the UK their market share is declining. Have you not noticed the massive growth Swindon is undergoing. The Brexit arguments have been well versed and even the farmers can't deny the boom they are having. There are more jobs on offer now than there ever has been, just where do you get your information from. You should join the labour party ...
Hahahahaha fucking brilliant mate!! Move to Scotland yer very welcome ;)
The Government has said they will not be honouring what they were given from the EU.
on the money brother, we are moving to the EU, after all, leave means leave! you get a like and a sub
I'm downloading your vids for ammo later... quality
Well…
Brexit works so great that two things happened that made me laugh 😂
No. 1
INEOS is producing a nice off-roader car the „Grenadier“ in true spirit of the old Land Rover Defender, in France 🇫🇷
No. 2
The UK 🇬🇧 government was sending letters to German drivers, who got their license before ˋ99 , because then you where allowed to drive a truck up to 7,5 tons (sorry don’t know how many stones that is) 🤪… sending letters to German drivers and asking the, to come over and work as truck drivers in the UK 🇬🇧
…
In conclusion… you know it’s bad, when our British Cousins asking Germans for help 😜
Wise parables; don't bite the hand that feeds you brexiters, oooh bit too late😬.
You will reap what you sew, Swindon 54%😲. Who gon do all that care work? Oh I know, yourselves and why not😡you ticked the yes box.
Swindon??? You talking good but is not Swindon only ! Start talking global after I agree with you 100%
Top Man
I would love to spend a night with you just talking politics with a few beers :)
100% right sir. They've got what they deserve now fuck all ,good job.
It can be said louder but it cannot be said clearer... Brexit has been a disgrace! Your comments are spot on. Some Tories (not all followed the brexit crap) should paid by not being elected. Keep going and thanks for your vids.
Like Jarrow in the Depression, Swindon will the town that symbolises the swindle that is Brexit.
Brexit, aka the Swindon swindle...
Gonna rename it Swindled now 🤣🤣🤣
If your comments on Brexit were on the Frontpage of the Times maybe some Reality would hit them Motherfuckers!
True Words from a real Man, keep it up!
I'd love to watch a video like this about Grimsby, there's a vid "How Brexit Won The North" here on YT, the people in it seem so blind, wrapped in Union Jack...
😂😂😂my ribs, that's a winner!!!
it will be tent city if your lucky to have a tent
Funny thing is that many conservatives claim that they are Christians and they keep voting for Tories. What Bible writes? Mathew 7:17-20:
"... Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them."
It is clearly written that you judge by results. Decades of Tory government lead to austerity, raised inequality, real estate prices growth, health care system got worse, etc. etc.
But people keep voting Tories. This is beyond me.
BTW, I am atheist but still, one of the management principles is: "past performance is a good predictor of the future performance". :)
Cars are gone
yes i love brexit

Your sound quality is very low.
Your voice is faint and has been so for the last couple of videos. I really have to listen even with the volume on my iPad turned up to max.
Saying it's because of racism is lazy, and in fact people saying that is the reason the vote went the way it did
Once you've asked the vast majority of leave voters five or so questions about their reasons why they voted the way they did and debunk the nonsense they come up with, the last remaining thing they tend to cling onto tends to be "too many foreigners". Though this is more xenophobia, nationalism or jingoism than racism in its utterance, what they mostly try to avoid saying but really mean is "too many black and brown faces and languages I don't understand".
Not every brexit voter is racist. However every racist voted brexit. Keeping that company is enough for me to think somebody too thick to vote.
What is your Twitter handle?
The decision to close Honda was made LONGGGGG Before the Brexit vote, even if we remained in the EU Honda was leaving regardless of the out come.. I’m afraid you are Incorrect
Cool. Everything is GREAT!
Sources?
