  • Hi guys, I'm Inna. I was born in Ukraine (Chernivtsi) and I've been living in Italy since I was small. I was suggested to react to this video "So I went to Ukraine... during the war" by Geography Now.
I hope you like my reaction to this!

I am surprised it was said Rus was a Nordic word for Slavs as there are Arabic documents that mention Rus pointing towards the blond & blue-eyed Nordic traders/pillagers (and later rulers of Slavic lands like the ruling class of Kyivan Rus) and Varangian guards. I am not going to claim I know what it exactly is, because as far as I know, not even historians are 100% sure. 🤔
@Inna Solo; not sure if you will ever read this, but when you said you are from Chernivtsi I smiled. It was the first city in Ukraine I visited (if you ignore me arriving at L'viv). I like Chernivtsi more than L'viv (same atmosphere, but cleaner and smaller 😄). Before the invasion I was seriously thinking about moving to Ukraine (plan is on pause only) and Chernivtsi is on the list of possible places to move too. (Now hoping I heard it correctly and you didn't say Chernihiv. 😆)

"Russia was created in Ukraine, kiev is Russia's first city"
      DELUSIONAL
1 "Kievan Rus" is only a state of the whole Rus located in south of the country, there was Suzdalan Rus, Novgorodan Rus, Ryazan Rus, Halycian Rus etc..(they are also called "Principalities") all of them are parts of the Great Rus that are now located in 3 great countries. Russia, Ukraine and Belarus are the fragments of the country the world continues to grind.
If you can call Rus as "Kievan Rus" then call USA as "Washingtonian America" and UK as "Londonian Britain"
2 kievan rus is THE EAST SLAVS not Ukraine. And from those east SLAVS the FIRST Nation to emerge was Russia so they can claim kievan rus
3 the name "Ukraine" literally means borderland so you can guess what history is that... Being the borderland between Russia Austria and poland-lithuania
4 before kievan rus there was Novgorod rus (evident in 700s and official in 820s) and ladoga rus whom both existed at least 100 year prior, kievan rus is basically the expansion of Novgorod from the north to south AFTER they captured kiev
5 the term "kievan rus" DIDN'T exist until the 1700s....they were refered to as "east slavs" kingdoms /vrangians which was belarus russia and Ukraine
6 only russia can claim itself to be the true succession of the kievan rus, because during 1200s - 1500s most of Ukraine was under the Khazar khanate
And while moscovy was under the golden horde it was the first to break free in the 1400s . And the republic of Novgorod was never conquered by tye Mongols, and its system was more feudal similar to Scandinavia and the Teutonic order
7 Russia GAVE 70% of modern day Ukraine's land to Ukraine :
      - east of the dnipro is Russian
      - south west of Ukraine (basarabia) is Romanian hungarian
      - Transcarpathia is slovak/Hungary
      - Ruthenia is polish/austrian
      - Odessa is moldovan
      - Crimea is crimean tatars / russians
the entirety of Ukraine didn't exist as a single entity, it was the Russian empire and Soviet Union that gave it it's modern borders which aren't historically Ukrainian
8 Ukraine was created by the soviet Union in the 1920s
9 all historians including venetians ottomans Scandinavian German austrian always called the land of the eastern slavs "russa" so that speaks volumes...

Russia was not created in Ukraine, but Russia was created by Ukrainians (Kyivska Rus). Dolgoruky was sent to Moscow for punishment (it was then a village in the swamp). And the Slavs did not even live there, except for those who were also exiled as criminals (later some of them became boyars). Before Peter the Great, Russia was called the Muscovite Kingdom and was spiritually and ethnically the heir not of Kievan Rus, but of the Golden Horde. This story that Russia was created in Ukraine (then still Rus or Ruthenia) is simply a Russian excuse for seizing the former lands of Rus.

    • @TimvanderWeyden
      @TimvanderWeyden Год назад

ruzzia wasn't created by Ukrainians either. It (the Muscovite duchy) was created by the Mongols to spread the power and keep Kyivan Rus small (and fighting with each other). If ruzzia really loves history and historical claims so much, they should be annexed by Mongolia. 🤣

But it's important to accept that we've made mistakes and not make them again. In the modern world, Poles will no longer be able to make the same mistakes as before. In my opinion, the main problem was that that Poland made under Khmelnytsky times and earlier was to maintain an outdated social system at all costs, which also led our country to destruction. I always use the case of the English, French and Germans as an example. They have been fighting for centuries, and now they live peacefully next to each other and understand that peace always brings more benefits than war. And I was a little worried about this bald man's statement, because using the example of contemporary Poland I see how easy it is to manipulate people and how nationalism and patriotism can be used for bad things :( Good luck
