I’m building an Isuzu NPS. I’ve 1100watts of Solar, 2xDC/DC chargers, 400Ah of Lithium Batteries and a 3000W invertor, all Victron. Thing I love most? The Victron Cerbo GX will run a Node Red Server. I can use Siri to turn things on and off such as lights, the invertor, water pump and air compressor. I also can top up the batteries in the caravan. Great info on the aircon, thanks!
Our 2016 Holden Colorado has a 180W panel, Redarc solar controller, Redarc DcDc charger, and a 140amp hour AGM battery…. Just enough for us to run our Engel fridge/freezer on our weekend trips away. Great channel, keep up the fantastic videos 💯🇦🇺
I have just removed all the Jayco gear and installed 800 watts of solar, 400amps of lithium and a 3000 watt inverter, 100/ 60 solar controller and a 12/ 60 DC-DC charger, all Renogy gear run through a Renogy fused combiner box. Good system, but I am under no illusion that it will run the aircon, but it is not intended to. Maybe one day, bigger van, bigger system, but that is for another day. Great episode Josh, one of your better ones.
22 ft Lotus Freelander , thanks to you Guys we went the 900 ah monster pack with the 5 x 200 w panels on the roof as well as 2 x solar blankets plug in ports .Also Czone Switching setup . Love the endless power when off grid 👌
WINNER!! Congrats guys! You have won $300 and some Travelling Campers Merch! Reach out to us on our social media page and we will get you sorted! Josh & Mikayla
@@TravellingcampersThat’s Awesome Guys , We are Currently sitting on the banks of the Murray River at Torrumbarry on our way home from Central OZ . Been a great 6 weeks checking out what this great country has to offer . The Lotus Freelander and the awesome monster battery pack performed fantastic . Hope to see you guys on the road soon . Thanks again , perfect end to our holiday 👍 Anthony & Tracey Lister
In our 2003 winnebago ultimate freedom we swapped the 4 6v golf cart batteries for two 460 AH temgot lithium batteries. Working to improve the system as we boondock full time. We are hoping to upgrade to a victron inverter soon for the efficiency and the xantrax inverter is on its last leg making all kinds of noises. We love the bluetooth capabilities of the temgot batteries. They are just so well built with the steal boxes and cool color scheme. And we all know if your gonna do something, you better look cool doing it. 😎 cheers y'all
Isuzu Dmax with a DC to DC charger hooked up to 120 amp hour battery. Running a fridge at the moment 24/7! Nothing flash but does the job, love the relatively basic, convenient setup✅ Cheers guys, Happy Easter👌👍
Happy Easter guys, we have a new van lined up for December! Can’t wait. 800w of solar, 3000w inverter, 400Ah lithium battery. Hoping it’s enough to go out in the bush. Enjoy your new van guys
Hi mate, I am a sparky and agree. We have 620Ah in the Van (with 980w of solar) and 360Ah in the car. We have setup the van DC-DC so car decants power into van and uses car power first. This allows us to charge while we drive when un-hooked and bring power back to van at night. Great vid 👍
Hi Travelling Campers. Very informative and love watching you guys. We have in our new Van 400 Amps of Lithium and 800 watts of Solar with 300 watt Inverter. This was as much as we could afford as we also went the airbag suspension. Would have loved an extra Battery. Maybe next time. Great to see how long it will last as I have tried it for a couple of hours and went down to 80%. Great tips thanks very much.
Hey guys awesome to see some informative articles being covered we have been very much looking into this exact subject. We are running 400ah lithium with 660watts solar on the roof of the van we want to install a inverter as we want to run our aircon off grid with the young family instead of having to book powered sites just to keep the kids comfy but as you said in the video this is not a cheap addition to get installed. We love the power usage and run time we get currently but would love to expand this system to be more open to off grid traveling.
Hey guys we have 990ah lithium 3 x 330 Victron batteries and 1630 of solar total canopy and Caravan roof, we also have 300 watt blanket so also when we are driving we can get upto 180amp back into the system 2 x 50ah chargers DC-DC and all the solar all Victron. (Love the Blue)
Hey Legend... We have 800watts on our roof plus a 200watt portable panel which we are changing now over to a kickass 300w portable, We hsve 600ah in total and a 3000w inverter & a Redarc battery management system. Its enough to run all we need especially the air con as you mentioned use it to cool down and then just relax it. Mad episode once again Josh thanks and hopefully will see you out there soon 🤙🏻
Mr Murdoch we have a fully offgrid system in our gic black series patron forward fold wired the whole system myself with only the best (enerdrive) yeah that's right 200ah of lithium dc2dc charger and sitting on the boat rack is a 320watt solar panel . The way we camp we never need to plug in and when we are home just park it out in the backyard and it looks after itself 😅🎉 thanks for sharing your van power mate
Hi there, our little van has 200a/h of Renogy lithium, Renogy 50Amp dc/dc, Victron 30Amp mains charger and 300watts roof mounted solar. An Anderson plug on the side for an extra 360w solar. Working on a 100a/h lithium battery box for the car atm. Cheers guys!
I run a 400ah lithium setup with a Projecta INVCHR2 inverter/charger combo with auto changeover, it's awesome being able to run everything without being plugged in.
Hi Travelling campers I currently have a 200a/h enerdrive battery and enerdrive chargers. heaps better than the 2 agm's it had but wish i could run things like you can! would make campingbetter all round. Thanks for video learnt heaps. Cheers Darryl
3 solar panels, 2 GCM batteries, and a 2000W inverter. I've never run out of power. I run a Kings fridge/freezer, fan, phone and laptop. Plus a 1 litre 12 volt kettle. I'm looking at getting a 12 volt air-conditioner. I'm totally off grid and have a potential for 240 volt (but I've never used it). Everything I have is 12 volt.
300ah lithium, 3000w inverter, and 630w solar (not enough solar) in the caravan and 250ah lithium, 3000 w inverter a 390w on the ute. Also, have a 250w blanket to share between the 2. I need an mppt charger for the van to make it more efficient. Keep up the good work, guys.
Hey guys. System just planned out in the new van. 1,000ah Redarc batteries. 1850w panels on the roof. Redarc bms 100 (maybe x2, waiting to hear back from Redarc) if that can’t happen, 2 x Redarc dcdc50 in conjunction with bms100. All shown through red vision.
900amps would be amazing!! We put 400Amps in ours with victron system. We manage coffee and AC but only 2-3 hours max, I find after that the worst of the heat sorted and then i get nervous. That said haven’t taken it up to NT, hopefully 2025 half lap and will find out. Mad truck and van. Very jealous 😊
We had a very similar system, it’s great but as you said 2-3 hours of heavy use you start getting very nervous into the afternoon and night haha. Love that you have the next trip planned!
I am currerly running a 300amp lithuim (2nd battery will be added. I have a 2000 watt invertor running everything and i am in the process of installing 1020 watts of solar and use a 200 watt blanket.
Just a simple 100ah deep cycle and redarc isolater in the 4wd. Not great for the battery, but simplicity is nice. Also have a set of kings foldable panels, to tickle it up when its a bit low. Would want to move to a lithium and bcdc for a bit more efficiency and longevity for when not moving around as much.
HI Guys, we have an Enerdrive system in both our van and car canopy. Van has 2 x 300w BTEC batteries, dual 40Amp solar controllers, 60Amp AC charger, 40Amp DCDC, 2600W Inverter and 1400W solar. Car canopy has 1 x 200w BTEC battery, 60Amp AC charger, 40Amp DCDC charger and 2000w Inverter plus a 240volt inlet. We also have a Redarc 300W solar blanket. Best thing is we can plug the car into the van via the AC charger, turn the Inverter on in the van to top up the car or vice versa.
Yo, Y62, 110amp slimline lithium, 1800w inverter with a 160 watt panel on the roof. Very good but can always do with more haha. Caravan, 600 amps of lithium, 3000w inverter and 2x 170 watt panels on the roof. Runs A/con in the van all night but limiting factor getting charge back into the batterys so next is more solar. Love having Acon in the van at night and love being able to boil water at the beach in the car with 0 issues. Cheers legends. 👍🏿

Also so shopping for portable solar panels any recommendations? P.s love your channel and your knowledge and experience. Happy Easter
Perfect guys! The kickass 300w panels are good, get around 18.5 amps roughly, they are a touch big and heavy. We just purchased the Itech world 300w panels purely for room and weight, they are putting out around 16.5 amps.
Just installing the Redarc RS3 3000Watt inverter and 600A/hrs of Lithium power (aiming to get a 3rd 300A/hr battery to get us up to 900A/hrs). That’s an upgrade from Redarc 2000Watt Inverter and 200A/hrs of lithium. Mid way through upgrading and swapping out inverter and batteries. $300 smackers might help me with some of my cable upgrades. We are aiming to be Off grid in our 2018 Lotus Trooper.
I have a 100ah AGM in a DIY portable battery box charging through a projecta dcdc, and from a solar blanket when at camp. Could it be better, 100% it could. But for now with my occasional camping trips it does fine.
We have a van getting built as we speak, 600ah lithium, 720 watts of solar on the roof, 500 watts of solar blankets, enerdrive I board and simarine monitoring.
Great to see you talking about the importance of solar for these systems. Having a massive battery is great but if you can’t recharge it, it’s pointless. 1400w roof mounted solar is not enough to recharge a system of that size so having a couple of portables is great. What you said about the dcdc charger is not correct. Yes it taps out at 32a on the mppt input if your solar array is around the 20v which your portables are. However, it definitely should be pushing more that 40a from your vehicle. If it isn’t, then you have a wiring issue and usually undersized cable. Suggest you also enquire about having a second dcdc fitted as your American truck has the capacity to run multiple dcdc chargers with the hnderbonnet alternator capacity you have.
I have just upgraded to 360amps of lithium with 3x90 watt enerdrive panels. Have a enerdrive DC2DC charger and 40amp charger. Would love to buy a solar blanket
