First time he said "im not gay anymore" in the 80's on Letterman then few years later he backed up and said im gay again for 35 years, just to devout again at the end of his life. The truth is he was always Christian from the beggining it's just that his gayness and his faith clashed and could never make peace with himself til the end of his life.

Legends die before having a proper story told about their lives and it leads to others researching a doing it their own way and that's the sad part. I'm looking forward to this documentary, but a big screen, big production movie needs to be made about the creator, innovator, emancipator and architect of rock n roll Richard "Little Richard" Penniman. The movie made for TV starring Leon was OK, but his story deserves to be told bigger and better and bolder because that was Little Richard. ❤

On the contrary he was apologetic he repented to the Lord and to the world he’s said it live in interviews. He had a book “The life n times of lil Richard” I wonder how close it will be to this book that he actually signed off on. Now did he sign off on this doc. As I was going out the front door to exit, I saw him walking up the steps, with his limo parked behind him. I remember saying, “Hi Little Richard”. He said hello and he was friendly. His mother had a house on Virginia Road in the Lafayette Square part of Los Angeles, where he stayed with her and his sister Leva when he was studying to be a minister. My mom was friends with Leva, and they went to Mount Vernon Jr. High School together. My mom often went to their house, but she never saw him, because Leva said that Little Richard was there in his bedroom with the door closed, studying. About 4 years ago, a neighbor here in Lafayette Square reported that she saw him walking around the neighborhood.

I am trying to figure out why so many don't think he got the recognition he deserved? I grew up in the 60's and 70's. He was always on TV during this time. He was on talk shows and variety shows. He was also a big draw in Las Vegas at the Flamingo Hotel. He was always introduced as one of the founders or fathers of Rock and roll. Or as the architect of Rock and Roll, or even the Quasar of Rock and Roll. He was front and center during the whole 50's rock and roll revival in the early 70's, usually headlining the big revival festivals and concerts. In the late 70's he disappeared for a little while during another one of his religious revivals but he came roaring back in the mid 80's and he was everywhere again , doing talk shows, awards shows, variety shows and his contributions to the founding and creating of Rock and Roll was always mentioned. He was even doing movies and making new records, doing duets with then current big music stars. So how was he not acknowledged and forgotten about? As a Little Richard fan, I'm looking forward to this movie but it's not like nobody knew who he was for the last 60 years.

I do remember reading a Little Richard Biography 30yrs ago and watching a movie about his life....He has always been under rated as the creator of modern music.

Leon Robinson played little Richard and Jennifer Lewis played his mother the movie was directed by Robert Townsend. I don't know what she's talking about. She didn't know anything about him. 🤣 and Leon talked about how he paid homage to him when he came on set. Little Richard said that movie told the true story about his life. That lady obviously didn't do a extensive research.

Documentary of one of my favorite singers just came out.. I waited months for this documentary of Little Richard : Little Richard: I Am Everything
    Made by CNN 🙄
After watching it I was disappointed that they left out the most important part of his life that he treasured & wanted to share with the World.
Not only that but they stated that he “hated” himself because
he wasn’t “proud of his open Pride”
& that it was the Holy Bible’s fault for having him turn away from his sexual lifestyle after finding Jesus Christ.
    - They removed his everything about his faith & repentance from his “proud” sexual lifestyle, which was one of the biggest changes of his life.
He became a Christian Minister to preach the Gospel & how Christ made him NEW.
Here is one of his last interviews.
CNN did a huge disservice to his legacy.
You wanna glorify his sins & struggles…
but not post or make light of the true man
    Little Richard was.
It’s a disservice to what he died for…

I met a guy in Las Vegas at the New York, New York hotel in the sliced pizza restaurant, when I was in town for the Prepaid Legal convention. Well, this guy noticed that I was in a suit, and we struck up a conversation. He told me that he was seeking legal help because Little Richard was his father, and that the church had kept him and his dad away from each other his whole life. I cannot remember this guy’s name. Anyway, the point is, the church had a big influence on Little Richard, and it wasn’t all good!

Considering his contribution musically alone, his stage performance, his top 10 hits the number of people he influence, all of which became megastars in their own right, it’s criminal, that he was relegated almost to the level of a footnote in rock ‘n’ roll history. He was right to speak out and be his own advocate. Before I understood who he was and what he accomplished, I thought he was just being flamboyant when he mentioned that he was the architect and complaining that he never got a Grammy and deserve one then, when I researched it, I just agreed with him.

I'll make it quick for you. Born in poverty in a Christian home, struggled with homosexuality, became famous, got into drug excess, gave his life to Jesus, was born-again, renounced homosexuality, drugs and his past life of sin. Decided he wanted Jesus more than anything else. Went to Heaven, currently lives in heaven.

Tell the whole story that right before he died .Little Richard was on TBN and he said that He gave life over to JESUS CHRIST that's why we celebrate him. He said none of all that mattererd but JESUS and that he loved him with all his heart.
