- UPDATE 2014: This trim kit seems to be pretty hard to get nowadays. I get a lot of questions about it and the only place I can find this exact trim kit now is on eBay. Check out this seller: www.ebay.com/us...

I have been trying to search it up online and it doesn't say it in the manual :/ but I've had no luck finding out how to fix it. It might be best to take it into a mechanic but I'd rather just do it myself but thank you for the help dude I'm sure il get it working some how :)

Yep, actually they're a bit too expensive but I haven't found any good quality copies. As you can see I tried with those cheap stickers first. Didn't look good at all. The OEM parts are by far the best in this case.

Do you know how off this plastic around the radio to one side, you on the video is removed easily because the GTI or R32. The menu is simple 1.9TDI does not come off as if you can tell me how it takes off?

Where can I find the same trim kit but in different colours and themes I have been looking around on eBay and stiff and most of them have the dials in stead of buttons for the air con :/

kieran vanderdrift, I have only seen these trim kits in aluminium and wood, if you want the real ones. There are trim decals available in all sorts of styles but I would NOT recommend these! I tried them at first and it's very difficult to assemble them in the correct place and it just doesn't look good.
Try plasti dip on the parts you have if you want to change the color. Easy to spray on, easy to remove, available in lots of colors.

Not the ones I bought, it was only the dash trim kit. I changed the whole door handle to new OEM handles that are completely black, no trim at all (see still picture at the end of the video). Except for the driver side handle. I removed the little piece of wooden trim at the inside of the handled and sprayed it in silver. The R32 handles have aluminium trim I think.

the pieces slide down to come off. you dont need to pry them off.
I know this is a very old thread but got to say I agree. Totally mangled the retaining slide holes by forcing them out like that.
As dacasman says, the side pieces slide downward to remove.
At indy-cator dot de. It's called Gaslock Indy-cator, you can probably get it on eBay or something as well.
Price differs a lot. Available on 66-cruiser . c o m for 269 dollars (too expensive) but you can find it on eBay. Search for "Golf 4 aluminium trim" and you should get some hits.

Oh god no. You are supposed to slide the side pieces down, not pry them off. That's why the tabs are all bent on yours.
brother mine is broken how to fix it ?? i didnt slide down when removing now i cant put it back
Slide down? I tried and they don't move. Was afraid of doing many force.. U just slide down like hold the trim with ur fingers and make force to the bottom?

Hey it's me again idk if you will be able to help me with this but the other day I had to push start my car cause the battery ran flat and now my stereo does not work at all would you know anything at all cause I can't seem to find anything :/
A battery that runs out is a REAL pain in the ass, I've had that problem on both my cars. It could be virtually anything, impossible to say without troubleshooting. When I got my stereo installed (note: by a car audio company) the guy connected the amplifier directly to the battery instead of the ignition, so it sucked the power out of the battery in about two days if I didn't use the car. I returned and they had it fixed. But I don't know much about electricity myself so can't help you there. Have you checked any VW forums online?
I just bought a brush aluminum dash kit. has more parts, way cheaper. Looks just as good.

The color code for the interior? What parts? This was the interior color of the car when I bought it, except for the fake wood details which I swapped. I guess it's stock.

Beror på vilket resultat du vill ha. Du får ju aldrig samma resultat som originalet i aluminium. Om jag skulle spraya skulle jag använda nån metallicfärg och sen tvåkomponents klarlack på det.
be carefull guys, not on every golf 4 the side panels are removeable. (atleast not with mine)

Yea I know, the OEM stuff is very expensive. But I tried aluminum wrap before this and trust me, it does NOT look good haha... This trim kit makes a huge difference in interior appearence

No, not if you want it to look good. I have tried those stickers that comes in different patterns and stuff. It's very hard to get them in the correct place without them folding. You can see in the beginning of this video how it looks when you try to remove them, lots of glue left.
Try some plasti dip if you want cheaper, but if you want the aluminium look I would recommend to buy the OEM trim kit. It's expensive but worth it.

Was the "ugh" regarding my totally inappropriate and wrongful use of the blue plastic tools on my very first car I bought in 2012, or my treatment with stickers on the interior previous to getting the aluminium parts? 😂😂 Whichever, I still can't believe this video has 645K views, didn't really count on that....
