Thank you...and I am so hoping that it does work...and also hoping that it doesn't harm the orchids...and so far so good...no noticeable changes...so at least their not dying!!! LOL!!! Looking forward to seeing what happens and I am indeed keeping my fingers crossed for great results.... :) :) :)
Hello Maria! You are great!!! Thank you for sharing your orchids adventures with us..... I know it is too soon but wiil you please tell us how is your orchid doing?
Great methods!!! I'm sure you will get great results. I've used liquid hormone for my orchids with wonderful production of roots as well. Can't wait to see the progress!
Thank you...and liquid hormone...what type/kind do you use...it's great to hear that you've used it...and it works! AWESOMO...and WHEEEEEW! I was afraid that I might have been hitting the nail in it's little orchid coffin...LOL!!! HAPPY to know that there is light at the end of the orchid tunnel! :) :) :)
+MY Orchid Adventures. I use Dyna-Gro K-l-n Rooting Concentrate. You can find it on Amazon and eBay. I'm sure there other great products as well. This has worked for me on my orchids especially those that needed a bit boost on rooting. I also apply this to all my orchids during spring for a little kickstart on new root growth. Happy roots = Happy orchids!!! ;)
+Richard Lee Thank you so much for the awesome info!! I will have to stick up on it!!! LOL!!! I am so happy to know that we do have some options available to us and we don't have to give up so soon...also great to know we can use it on a regular basis to ensure good root growth...Thank you and indeed HAPPY ROOT GROWING!!! :)
Thank you for the great info. I have found all of your RUclips tutorials to be very informative. In a pinch one day, I used the strawberry containers for my smaller phaelenopsis plants. It's working great! I didnt have to make air/drainage holes in the container. Hope this is a hepful tip.
Awwwwww thanks so much for your feedback and I'm glad that some of the information shared is beneficial for you..that's what it's all about...learning, GROWING and sharing in our passion together! :) :) :) ...and yes strawberry container, how innovative! Great job on using your orchid instincts and your creativity! :) ...and I 'm happy to hear it's working great for you!!! AWESOMO AND HIGH FIVE! YEEEEEAAAAAH!!!
Murugesh Darvin to be honest with you I'm not sure...you'll never know until you try it...and the rooting hormone is so inexpensive that it indeed is worth the try I would definitely try several cuttings of each plant...because sometimes it may not work on the first couple of tries. Good luck and let me know if it works for you.
Thanks for the interesting experiment. I believe that every one of us, orchid freaks, have started with basically dying plants :D Its good to have someone who makes those videos, giving examples how to save rootless plants. I have one experiment going on right now, but seems that its already lost case. Rootless masdevallia who doesent seem to greate any new growths, pretty unusual for masdevallias, since they grow little like weed for me :D But again, thank you so-so much and keep us posted. :)
Thank you for your kind comments...and I am so hoping this works...because I always like to try everything I can to save my orchids...and if this works this will indeed be another procedure I put in place...oh and masdavallias...I am scared of them...I have never grown them before...and every time I see them online I am so tempted to order one...but it seems that in every picture that I see...they are always staring at me with their beady little eyes saying "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT" LOL!!! ...and true story!!! HA HA HA!!!
Masdevalliad do love my summers, warmer days and colder nights, its also raining very ofter (mostly), so the humidity isnt problem at all and even temperature. Winters are hard, my fist (got it for only 9 euros last july) masdevallia lost almost 75% of its leaves because i was simply stupid, i didnt take it to cooler room, instead of that i left it in my bedroom with 20 (and over C) and humidity about 35%, lol. But it recovered very well, and as you saw on my video, it is now blooming again. :)
Hi Maria. I must admit I have used rooting hormone powder in the past on my orchids, but, being blonde and aged, I keep forgetting which ones! The only thing that may prove this experiment doubtful in my mind, is that the orchids may just root from the moist sphagnum treatment. Being as impatient as I am also, I wish you waited 2 months or so, got your results and then aired the videos. Do you get the impression I want immediate answers, lol? Hope it works for all our sakes, I think I have more orchids without roots than ones with. Good luck!
HA HA HA!!!! I can understand your point of you...but 2 or more months down the line...I may lose the footage or accidentally delete it (I've done both before) anything can happen...I do a lot of film projects so you can imagine the amount of footage I have archived...but not only that...many can appreciate the real time adventure...where they can join in on the action as it unfolds...so you will be getting the results as I am getting the results...does it get any more exciting than that!!! LOL!!! ...and you are right...it may just because of the extra moisture (dendrobium only) but the Nadosa, Aerides, and Kalsom had been receiving a lot of watering..I had already attempted moss with the kalsom...I had the aerides GROWING in a terrarium for extra moisture...and the nadosa was being watered in the same way I showed in the video...so in those cases if new roots grow then it would more likely be due to the hormone added to it....so those are the ones that I am really looking forward to seeing the results on. Thank you for sharing your feedback and your experience...I'm relieved to know that they didn't die and that they continued to grow...WHEEEEEW!
Thank you so much I really do appreciate your kind comments...and I am so glad you have decided to join me on my orchid adventures! Stay awesome dear friend...and HAPPY GROWING!!! :)
I hope it works I tried it with miracle grown fertilizer for all plants and my orchids have grown in size and some of them started blooming that haven't bloomed in years
NICE!!!! ...and your talking about the regular garden fertilizer for garden plants, right!? ...Yea and by what "they" say...I've always heard you should only use fertilizers made specific to orchid plants...see you never know unless you try it for yourself...Thank you for sharing your experience and congratulations on your healthier orchids. :)
Hi Maria! May I ask how this worked out? I have rescued a vanda in very bad shape, looks like all velliium on roots is crispy and DO want to save her! Leaves are suffering, they are shrivled and yellow. Lady who gave me the plant said she got frozen. So I am wondering, I have some superthrive, physan 20 and sphagnum, I am soaking her in my tropical fish tank for 20 minute a day morning and lunch and seems that a few larger roots are at least greening up but still hard as rocks after a month of that and filtered sun about 3 hours in the morning, more indirect afternoon as it passes over the roof of my house. I also stripped all the dry leaves off the base of the cane but the leaves seem to be getting weaker. No signs of nubbins or anything at all really. I am so sad for her. Please help if you have any ideas!
I'm sooo glad I just found you on RUclips and I love your videos!! I recently had to face the fact all my orchids need desperate attention! I have two little girls now and all my pretties just kinda got put on the back burner. My shelve fell in the kitchen the other day!! It made me realize the condition they're in! I'm pretty sure they can all be saved thanks to many of your videos. However, I have to know...Did you have any results? I had a keiki on a bare flower spike that got snapped off! :( I graft it back on before I saw this video, but idk if it was successful. There are no roots at all and only 2 tiny leaves. I tied on a bit of sphag moss to encourage roots. This is my very first baby on a spike! Any ideas on how to save her?
Thank you for joining me on my orchid adventures! I am so sorry to hear about your orchids....there are several ways to try and encourage the roots...the way you have elected is a great way...just make sure to mist often as the moss will dry almost instantly. Also if you can try one of my terrarium methods to retain more moisture for the plant...just ensure that it also get's a chance to get some fresh air from time to time...and of course you may also try the rooting hormone...I would moisten the bottom of the keiki and dip it in the rooting powder then simply add it twosome moss. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the little guy or gal...please keep me posted!!! :)

MY Orchid Adventures i believe that is best thinking not only for you, but even for me. Anyway, i am very much concerned about my cutting, its root is not yet started even after 25days after dipping in honey. thanks.
Bernadette Kennedy You should find the videos that don't talk too much. thank you

Why are you speaking like that?
hye Maria on your video 13.30 you started with the first orchid (sounded something like air-re-ges) ..what orchid species is it.? can you spell it for me... I have a similar orchids but i'm not sure what species... I asked some nursery they say it's a dendro but I don't think it isn't a dendro
It is an aerides flabellata, a vandacious type of orchid and definitely not a dendrobium. Do you have a picture of it you can post on my Facebook/my orchid adventure...I'd be happy to take a look and try to figure it out with you.
Good luck with this experiment!
Here are some tips while using plant hormones:
- Double check which hormone you are using. There are two common types: auxins (promote root growth and inhibits keiki formation) and cytokinins (promote keiki formation and inhibits root growth).
Unfortunately these hormones are antagonistic.
The usage of hormones promotes some characteristics up to some concentration. At major concentrations it actually inhibits the very same characteristic. So there is a recomendation to carefully weigth the powder and measure the quantity of water.
There are some papers that indicates the concentration of 1 mg/L but it is for in vitro plantlets. The results show that higher concentrations actually inhibited the root growth, so if you have bad results don´t hesitate to change the hormone concentrations =]

You should use gloves while mixing the hormone with the spagnum, you're using a compound with biological activity after all :D
On the other hand, this adventure will be successful, i have used naphthalenacetic acid as rooting promoter in Lycaste, Vanda and Stanhopea orchids in the past and it worked very nice :3
Thank you for your feedback...and I do firmly agree with you...I DO HAVE TO START WEARING GLOVES! I have never liked to wear them to do my garden work and have gotten into a very bad habit...but you are absolutely right...and I didn't even think of that at the time...it's time for me to turn over an new orchid leaf and start wearing some gloves. Thank you for sharing your story...giving me more hope that this will work for my orchids...wheeeeeeeeew! HAPPY GROWING! :)
I don't wear gloves either Maria but maybe we should especially when using chemicals.
marcia jackson Indeed...and absolutely...I had gotten into a bad habit of this...but we do have to keep in mind that harmful or toxic chemicals can be absorbed through the skin and can be an entry point into our bodies...so yes it is very important. :)
Do you dilute the listerine or use it straight?
I use it at full strength. If you decide to use it please let me know how it works for you. I love the fact that it is non toxic and won't hurt my lizard and frog friends. :)
You should do a kids show.

MY Orchid Adventures i believe that is best thinking not only for you, but even for me. Anyway, i am very much concerned about my cutting, its root is not yet started even after 25days after dipping in honey. thanks.
Talk Talk Talk Get to the point
Bernadette Kennedy You should find the videos that don't talk too much. That's what makes youtube so great...there are so many other videos you can watch and you are certainly not forced to watch mine. So just find the ones that suit you and don't watch the ones that don't. Wishing you the best on your orchid adventures and Happy Growing!
I think you are AMAZING :-) :-) :-)
