The future drone footage is gonna be epic! The before and after shots, the follow me setting and return to home setting. You'll be able to capture the roof clean and get the drone to sit itself back down again without having to do anything. As with all things, it comes with trial and error. I don't think anyone should complain that there is some white lichen that did not come off with the power wash and will come off with the chemical because it looks like it has been quite a few years since this roof has had any cleaning, time will sort it out. Another great job!

Yeah, that was a good call on the drone, Nick; drones can be crazy expensive, and stupidly easy to lose or break (all it takes is one bad Oops!, a nasty gust of wind, or one hacked-off hawk and you're done), so until you feel more confident in your flying capabilities, cheaper is better. Don't worry about the footage; just keep on keeping on. We'll all still be here. The roof looks stunning; it looks like they called in a roofer instead of a cleaner!

This, no kidding, is comment number three. If I forget to save and go look at something else, as send this out to friends, the comment gets lost.... Glad you worked on this place. You've taught us that moss is destructive to roofs. Interesting the White Lichen won't give until biocide is used. Liked the trick using your pole to clear the moss-clogged gutters. A drone can be really good, nice you are trying. Good you found the hole in the tiles. Better to be found than the roof have a mystery leak, hidden by moss. Nice that the lichen on the 25 min. side seemed to be not as tenacious and was coming off. Kind of funny that a tarp with holes is "just right" for draining sludge/moss. That roof is looking much neater, will be a good asset for the home and area. I remember when computers were coming out and they said, "Always have backup." You did. You had your Before and After stills and they did the job to finish off the video.
I was being silly while watching and when your camera fell when you tugged on the hose, I said, Nickkkkk I've fallen and can't get up. LOL you came right over as if you heard m. We have a commercial over here in the U S for an alert amulet for the elderly and the poor old gal says that.
Don't worry about the loss of drone footage I am sure as time goes on you will become superb at working the beast! Your memory is about as good as mine!! As you said what a lot of moss!!!

The science part of my brain is like - Get rid of the moss, it retains moisture, can seep into the cracks, expand with ice and ruin the tiles, it weighs down on the roof, can block the drains. The non science part is like - Don't get rid of the moss, look how cosy the roof looks 😢 😂
You need to have a certificate to use drones and you cannot fly them in certain places and over other people’s homes. A friend was telling me the rules around drones and you have to pass a course online.
There's apps you can use to see where you can fly. It's also dependent on weight and the height of the drones flight for whether you need a license and permission in the UK.
