And did you use a roller? It looks like brush strokes. For a large area you have to use a roller, or it will look patchy. And the paint can needs to be mixed regularly as you go.

Nice touch with the leaves on the wall. Beats wallpaper everytime.
The flat / matte paint doesn’t reflect any light, that’s why it appears a different colour to our eye. It has nothing to do with quality.
