Kevan is an underrated character in the show. While he may not have had Tywin’s cunning, he did have his brother’s ability to tolerate absolutely none of Cersei’s BS and repeatedly let her know that she’s not in charge. His only mistake was being so concerned with running things properly and doing damage control of Cersei’s various past mistakes, that he did not “play the game” enough to undermine Cersei’s idiot schemes BEFORE they caused problems, which eventually got him killed. This is what made Tywin and Tyrion both capable of dealing with her as Hand.
