    I got a USB version over a year ago and it has been hammered Used all day and every day writing two books and doing other things on the machine. Thus far very satisfied, lettering on the keys is just printed on and a couple have worn off a bit (V B and N because I do a lot of graphics work so I spend a lot of time using the trackpoint). Mine could do with a taller trackpoint cover, on mine it is a bit low so I sometimes catch one of the surrounding letters. Trackpoint is very usable, I now prefer them to a mouse or trackball and they are of course way better than the scratch pads.

    I bought this model back in April. Overall I would recommend.
    Pros:
    Excellent keyboard
    Trackpoint (if you're accustomed to it)
    Battery life
    Compactness
    Solid connection with Bluetooth
    Cons:
    No backlight
    One of the plastic tabs that raise the keyboard broke off (not due to any abuse)
    Scrolling is not the same as on the their laptops, which I prefer

    Oh I missed this video! I am so happy they are once again making the trackpad pointer keyboards again. I have an older IBM one and after IBM sold out I could only get a black one and desktops were white back then. Once you start using these things you realize how inefficient it is to keep moving your hand off the keyboard to have to use a mouse. I am getting one!!! You made my day. Thanks for another great video with important tips included -as always, of course. Have a happy day too.

    i am using the original bluetooth thinkpad keyboard from early 2010s, still working perfectly. this keyboard has very nice key travel, similar to the depth of the T series keyboard. I personally think the external thinkpad keyboard is better than the entry level thinkpad laptop keyboards such as the L14 I am using primarily due to the deeper key travel.

    • @jothain
      @jothain 3 года назад

      How do you feel about armrest length? It looks bit too short to be comfortable to use trackpoint for longer periods of time. Also have you tested if it works as USB-HID device when plugged in? From this video I got impression that it doesn't, but I'd suspect that it does. Really shame if it doesn't as that would rule out some special use case scenarios which could come handy for power users.

    • @hardwarevsgaming
      @hardwarevsgaming 3 года назад

      @@jothain armrest is a bit short. But I'm not really bothered since I don't use it for several hours. What you mean exactly by using it as USB HID? You mean use it / connect via USB cable? Unfortunately it doesn't work. The USB is for charging only. I just tested it before replying to you. Only works via the USB wireless connection or bluetooth. But it won't work directly via USB port. Also I don't like where the FN key is located. I keep pressing that instead of Ctrl. They should have placed the FN key elsewhere. Nevertheless, it is convenient though. Especially for android phones.

    • @jothain
      @jothain 3 года назад +2

      @@hardwarevsgaming Yeah, that's just what I was going for, that if it works with USB-cable only. Bit of a shame as I was looking into that this might be perfect for my workshop where space to use is limited and it would stay stationary for virtually all the time. Wouldn't have to care about charging etc. I wonder if there's somewhere software/hardware option to change that FN-key function. In Lenovo's laptops you can usually change FN-key and Ctrl locations between. You also have indeed valid point for that length of armrest that it might not be big of an issue either for me as usage would generally be in quite short periods. Huge thanks for testing that USB cable and I really appreciate answering. Good weekend there.

    3. Icons showing the state (e.g. All caps) will stay on the screen.
    4. Icons showing the state appear in different areas. Some appear in bottom center, some on the bottom right, sometimes wherever it damn well feels like it.

    6. FnLock indication will cease. LED will stop illuminating even though it's in that state. Or maybe it just forgot what state it's in.

      @@YounesLayachi I am not sure you got my (rather flimsy I believe) mental shortcut. I meant I could just use my laptop under an external monitor, but I would like the laptop's keyboard to be quite deep on the desk as I like my forearms to rest firmly on the desk when typing. Then there the laptop's screen comes into play - it can be opened up to any degree

    Hi, great video. I have a question, I hope you can still be able to answer it. Is it possbile to link this keyboard to a desktop using the dongle and to an Android tablet using blueetooth at the same time, so I can swap between devices quickly?
