That property owner nd keeper should be charger with endangering her. The keeper did all that on purpose. He left her out, fed her and made sure the gates were open..... it makes me so angry 😤. I can only imagine what Jeremy real said to him, I hope he told him off. I did notice the keeper was nowhere to be seen while they finally removed her.

I’m so happy the police were able to step in. That awful man almost took her life. It is just astonishing how greed can lead to people standing in the way of a beautiful animal needing to be rescued.
Love that the police decided not to wait for a legal document and went on to the property to allow Kaloo’s rescue!

can you imagine how that would have played out in America?? there would be shot Monkey World employees and bystanders with bumbling, useless cops staring at their phones while a wild chimpanzee runs loose thru town.
then everyone would sue each other and the evil landowner would 100% win every single case
Living in Cape Town i can't tell you how surprised we are that the S.A. Police helped out so quickly. Corruption and bribery are par for the course but am pleased that they could assist in this case 😀

Another cliffhanger!! The effort it’s been to secure Kalu safely has been heart wrenching! So much unnecessary stress. I hope the new estate owner received all the bad karma he deserved for being an as*^*•e!

What a nightmare scenario! It's amazing that everyone kept their wits. The new owners should be fined for their selfish behavior!
I agree. There was absolutely NO REASON for them to lock the gate and obstruct Jeremy and Allison from trying to rescue beautiful Kalu. Nothing but pure, selfish GREED. Now, the only thing they have achieved is making this experience that much more stressful for both Kalu AND her rescuers. SHAME on this person. I am glad Kalu is safely away with Allison and Jeremy now. The new owners should ABSOLUTELY be punished for this.

Wow...How *dramatic* ...My heart's *pounding* so fast...When Kalu hit the ground & didn't move, I literally felt weak in the knees...Then my heart got heavier imagining the tremendous stress that Alison & Jeremy endured during this entire difficult rescue effort...Now I'm really looking forward to learning all about Kalu & how long they think it might take for her (& the other chimps) to be ready for integration...I pray she's still taking a big interest in her new surroundings, & that the other chimps in her intended group will welcome her...I imagine she'll be quite nervous in the beginning...❣

Oh my goodness that poor baby.😢 She has gone through so much because someone thought it was okay to own her. Money makes you do some stupid things. Take that money and donate to saving animals.🙏🏽🙏🏽
Poor kalu had to go through so much! And her keeper was absolutely useless, I bet he was trying to sabotage the whole operation by letting her stay outside and not securing the enclosure better so she got up a tree. Terrible.
Anon - I couldn’t have said it better. I believe they were starving her towards the end. Kalu knows when she’s loved.
I absolutely HATE the people that poach these animals from the wild and the people that buy these animals and try to humanize them. It's such a sad situation all the way around. And how hard it has to be for the people who are now their caretakers to see how badly abused so many of them are.
How do you suddenly pass away at 92 years old? :) Hey never mess with Alison! The combination of the whole team is amazing I have learned so much and they are above and beyond real experts and have lots of feelings.
Absolutely love the series thank you for posting them , I rarely post comments but had to on this one whoever was taking care of this chimp didn’t have the brains of an ant just about everything he did that last day was wrong glad everything worked out

So would I. The Brits are not as vengeful as we Americans. We lash out forcefully when our rescue of endangered animals is turned into a ransom affair. Greed gets no mercy from us.
@@smc130 i am, not ever have been one to jump to suing or anything like that, but when it comes to children or animals and if its done by someone who is not wealthy then getting them locked up for a long time will have to do, but, if its someone who is evil AND wealthy, hitting them in the money pocket is the way, take their money AND freedom!

The greed of some people knows no bounds. Holding a chimp hostage, simply because he sensed a pay day, is a despicable thing. These people are there to rescue her, not gain a new thing to make money from. I am glad the SA police used their authority wisely.

I'm staying in South Africa right now and NOTHING is simple and straightforward here, not even organising an annual international research conference. You cannot rely on normal procedures. 😂

I hate to think of that money- grubbing so and so buying that woman’s farm. She loved her animals, but he has dollar signs in his eyes. The new farm owner wanted $150,000 Rand to release chimp Kalu
( Extortion!) That equates to $7,642.34 U.S. and 6,098.35 Pounds. As a 40 year old female, Kalu is at the end of her life span although some live longer. Chimps on the black market can go for around $12,500. So the new owner thought he could cash in. Sad. I was appalled at the filthy, rundown space that was supposed to be her bedroom. What a contrast that was to the wonderful indoor enclosures the Monkey World Chimps have. I’m so glad Kalu will live out her last years in a much better environment with companionship of her own kind.

I’m finally getting caught up with monkey world and I gotta tell ya….. I adore watching Allison kick @ss. Never thought at my age I’d have a hero, but watching her in action….. she truly is my hero!!!
You know that keeper, Micahel, was promised money from the landownder which is why he basically sabotaged the rescue.

Yes I agree. Unfortunately Kalu passed away about five or six months after getting to MW due to her being type two diabetic and also having a procedure she couldn’t recover from. But those final months were wonderful and she was blessed

Sounds like his keepers completely tried to Sabatage this rescue, they didn't do anything they needed to do to make this go smooth

Her keeper needs his bum kicked, he was told (knowing Allison and Jeremy) more then once what to do and NOT what to do and everything he was told not to do he did! Then the gates really WHY?? Then the person that bought the place tried to get money for a chimpanzee that he didn’t even want 🤯 just for a couple of dollars. WHAT IS WRONG WITH SOME PEOPLE? Her keeper probably knew he will no longer have a job so why help Allison. Allison you go Ma’am and this is the reason that I love monkey world 🌎 and it’s number 1 on my bucket list ❤❤
He might have been instructed by the owner. Maybe threatened that he will lose his room on the farm. It's a cruel world out there - divided by the haves and not haves.

If the owner of the estate can afford to buy that place they certainly don’t need additional ransom money.

Sabotage, anyone thinking like me? Too many things went agsinst the plan from feeding to not locking separate gates! Nothing went smoothly, I'm glad the Monkey World reps decided to leave the estate, this chimp may never have made it out of South Africa!👍
Did the keeper screw up on purpose? He made so many mistakes that it is difficult to believe those were mistakes
A good thing the police were helpful .. The new owner of the property was just a miserable selfish greedy arsehole He ended up causing Kalu , Jeremy , Alison and vet John a whole lot of stress needlessly . He's a jerk . Hopefully all make it back to Monkey World safely .

Always someone trying to make a quick buck, even if it puts an animal in danger, how sick of this person to do that. It cost Monkey world enough to come and get this monkey. Good grief people , how nasty can you get.
That keeper had to be at the center of so much sabotage! One disaster after another, all with human fingerprints on it. He didn’t seem to be around much at the end. I hope Jeremy had a few private moments with him……

Wow how dare the owner to do that, he was going to kill her if a new home wasn't found, then to demand money , so wrong he obviously misunderstood what monkey world is its ran by donations it cost so so so much money to go get these animals and much much more money to take care of them for the rest of there lives. I want to be mad at her handler too but first of all they are in south africa things are obviously done little bit differently ( hence police not waiting for court papers cause they didn't have to) and we dont know if the actual owner was responsible for everything that went wrong either by forcing the handler or even doing those things him or herself. Like i said its a different world there and things are done differently yes they have laws many of them but there are lots a things that are done kind of like in the wild wild west old days, and for the wealthy there they typically do what they want paying off the officials when necessary

What good does this microchip do? Can anyone tell me? Its not like you chip a dog and when its found the info provided when scanning the chip is just that…information like where its from, which vet etc. Its not giving you health info. You cant track it like its a gps thing. Enlighten me
