How to change a blower motor resistor in a Citroen Relay van

- Here is how to change a blower motor resistor in a Citroen relay. You can tell it’s the relay if you start losing blower settings. For example your van heating will only work on settings 3 and 4 but not 1 or 2. Strangely for us ours didn’t work after we changed the resistor at first. We took it for a short spin and it started working and has worked since. Really not sure why that was hopefully someone can tell me. Normally it should work straight off. Haven’t a clue why I needed to drive first for it to kick in.
Never mind the blow motor, its good to see you engage the little one with DIY activities, keeping him away from phones and tablets. 👍
Just a shame about the bad language in front of his son
This video helped me fix the same issue without replacing the resistor, I removed it, checked the contacts and they were corroded, cleaned them up with sandpaper and tested resistance across them (neg on 5, positive on 1 to 4) and they all had increasing resistance rates, plugged it back in and it worked fine, all settings on the blower now working as they should, because of the way it is positioned moisture will trickle down to the connector and corrode them over time. The bit size required is 5.5mm by the way, and he made it look much harder than it was to get to it and undo it. :)
Thanks so much. I have searched hi and low on the internet for where the blower motor resistor located and how to remove it. Mine is a Peugeot Boxer, but identical. Easy job when you know.
Mate thanks for the video mine worked after taking resistor out and sprayed up , brilliant . Cheers . Just need to sort window out now as passenger one isn't working .
I have a problem with my dispatch citroen heater it stopped working and when it works it's at low speed after a few minutes it stops and may take days to get back on even if the switch is on
How can I fix it as citroen garage has taken all my money

Just replaced mind and still only on one speed. So looks like I've got to run the engine up .
Yeah it was only when I drove mine down the road it suddenly kicked in and has been fine ever since. It’s like the part didn’t work straight away or something…weird :)
No joy so I've replaced the fan switch and all is fine.
Great to hear you got it sorted :)
Teach him to swear too, good parenting
I thought so 😁
I have the same issue with my Boxer. I will attempt the repair myself and report back if I manage it. Cheers.
Did it work? 🙂
@@teamdethridge5283 not done it yet. It’s on the list. Did swivel seats first.
Superb my mate..just followed your video to see how it's done..took 5 mins to change and worked as soon as I started the van...Happy bunny..appreciate it..winter is on its way and my heater was only working on full blast..once again thank you 😊😊😊
Johnny
big thanks pal.i looked all over too for info on the heater fix. this issue has happened on all of my last 3 boxer vans. why doesn't peugeot changed the design ! been happening for years.. great to find some help of the fix. much appreciated
Helpfull thanks
I got 2017 and after long drive the hair still doesn't get hot. Wt u think but it blows cold air.
I have just changed the blower motor rezistor and I took it for a spin too but I wasn't that lucky 😀
Mine didn’t until I had gone 5 miles. It was really weird
What was the problem then?
It was the resister. But for some reason it only kicked in after I took it down the road :) been fine ever since :)
I have a fiat ducato 2012. the heater started to run intermittently, stopped, started randomly. I also changed the air heater and the thermal resistance with new ones, but it does the same thing. it goes, it stops when she wants and for as long as she wants. what could it be?
Fan switch maybe? :)
@@teamdethridge5283 thx , i will change this switch
With all the swearing in front of the kid I assume you are up for parent of the year again this year.
The English language is soo beautiful I feel I would be doing it an injustice if I did not impart all of it 😏 it’s more important a child learns when to swear than not at all. I’ll be expecting my trophy in the post 😏
Best answer every. In my opinion swearing in conversation is different than swearing at someone. The kids may as well get use to it.
@@teamdethridge5283 yeah it will say moron of the year on it
@@fendecfencing1739 snowflake 😂😂😂 stick to ya wonky fencing lad 😂😂😂
@@teamdethridge5283 Absolutely. They soon learn swearing at school. Appropriate usage taught by the parents is better than them just blindly swearing because it's "funny".
There not metric lol .
I’m surprised I even had one that fit. Can’t beat an adjustable 😂
@@teamdethridge5283 just so long as you can get one in. Just found out that I need to replace mine after fan only runs on full speed.
@@captango hi mate. Mine only runs on full speed too. Did it work for you when you changed it
@@dalison1 I replaced the it and later found out that the mounting holding the switch on the dashboard in place had been broken so I removed it and used sugru to reafix it and all works fine as it should. Hope this helps.
@@captango that's mate. I will check mine when I have a look
