Well I just got my truck back . I dropped it off at 9 am and I got it back at 1 pm today he charged me $250.00 and I think I made a rare good move to have him do it.😅😅😅

A jack under the rear bumper or trailer hitch to lift the body up until the strapped shock fits on loose. Since the truck is still mostly on the tires it'll be safe.

I wonder if either your tools have tighter specs than normal, or Bilstein thinned the paint on those parts in recent years, I had zero trouble getting tools and the locknut over it. Great video, was just what I was looking for.
So, oddly enough, mine only fit with the rubber boot going down. Luckily, I didn’t hammer hard on the grommet/eye like you said. It’s still weird looking.
Was that a 4x4 truck? I have a 86 F150 2wd ... I ordered off your link in the description and I think they are too long.. I know I have to compress to install but I think the 24-016186 is actually for 4 wheel drive??? What you got on your end?
Yes this truck is 4X4. I don't know if, or what the difference is between the 4X4 and 2X4 coil spring size. That being said I feel like they should be interchangeable. Sorry I'm not more help.
I noticed the scenic background as you drove through the Ford proving grounds after the shock install. Where do you live? I still think bolting the top first is easier. If necessary you can use a jack to push the bottom up and use a punch to line up the hole. (dunit a few times)

Try installing a 5100 front for a leveled 99 f150 4x4 ... Bilstein's data is pos. You'd have to drop the front control arms to fit the thing into place. Torsion bar type.
@@jasoncharles6980 The fronts will only go on one way. As for the backs, I believe they can be installed either way. It doesn't affect the shock dampening. I just preferred the look of the boot on top.
I made the mistake of installing Taiwan made shocks and spring front and back on my 06 f150!! The dissatisfaction and sheer daily regret is astonishing!! Don’t go cheap on suspension components!! Just…..don’t!!

I have put the top on first than jack the bottom with a floor jack with a socket to push it up high enough. Socket is for clearance from the jack
That's a good idea. I've also seen you can jack the vehicle up by the frame until everything lines up.

I used red n tacky Grease on my rubber bushings. It's lithium-based so I don't believe it will hurt the rubber..
Lithium based should be just fine.

I live California about an hour north of Reno NV. However I'm getting ready to move back to my home state of Missouri.

I believe you installed those upside down. The boot is supposed to be on the bottom for the rears. Not sure about the fronts.

Which model shocks would you suggest with a 4” lift on a 95 f150? I noticed you said that these in particular for up to a 2” lift.
I'm not 100% sure. I know Bilstein makes them though. I'd look on Summit Racing, or contact Bilstein directly.
