Excellent discussion of current US gun laws and comparison with world standards. . Where are guns in the US manufactured? Maybe the solution is to address this issue in a fashion similar to the cigarette litigation and sue the US manufacturer for deaths resulting from guns,specifically assault weapons. Once they are required to pay millions for deaths related to inherently dangerous products they may act to make their product safer.

The one that comes to my mind is the Gifford Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, founded by Gabby Giffords, the member of Congress who was seriously wounded by a shooter, and which has been run by her and her husband Mark Giffords.
