    Yes that machine is awesome. Good info in this video. I'm in a pine plantation with zero ag for miles. Started building soil with buckwheat this year. Look forward to your videos! Thanks!

    Hi for those small basic ATV disc tillers, which ones do you think are good for small plots under an acre ?

    Do you fertilize buckwheat? Would it grow without it? Trying to save money on fertilizer and was planning on planting now and turning it in july

      Save the money ans add lime instead. Get a 15 dollar soil sample and it will tell you everything you need to know. If you need lime and fertilizer it’s way more important to add the lime needed.

    We don’t use a no till drill method like most people do. I asked a guy on another channel that only preaches no till drill if we take our summer crops and disc them into the soil if that will still benefit our soil and he said no it will just leach through the soil. What’s your take? Thanks Dave.

      Also we will be planting peas beans buckwheat and sunflowers.

      I don’t know what he’s talking about? Organic matter and green manure doesn’t leach through the soil. The nutrients might but that’s the whole idea of turning in the material to help over time so it doesn’t leach through. Anyone that says it doesn’t help may not have done it before. That’s all I’ve done for 20 years and the soil samples prove it works. My last property I started out at a 2.5 percent organic matter and zero Nutrition in the soil. After 3 years I went to a 12 percent organic matter and I needed zero fertilizer because the NPK levels were so high.

      @@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors it was growing deer tv I thank. Awesome that’s what I want to hear. Does it matter if we bush hog then turn around the next week to disc it in?

    Fuel, fertilizer, chemicals (not sure about seed) are all double (or more) in price. Fairly sure I'm going to pass planting spring food plots because of costs and for the reasons you give. A summer planting with a fall blend overseeding has turned out to be a much better food plotting strategy.

      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  2 года назад +1

      Yes for sure everything is more expensive. Probably always will
      Be. You can do away with chemicals and actively
      Cut cost on fertilizer and just foliar feed. A lot cheaper. That’s a new video coming out soon

    When talking temperatures, are you talking about soil temps or air temps?

    What are your thoughts on Lablab? It is high in protein and seems to tolerate browse better that Soybeans.

      It works well. But unless you can plant at least 2-3 acres of it. Even then it will
      Probably be wiped out.

      Dude. They eat way more gly from farmers crops then we could ever spray. It’s everywhere.
