I love the concept of making sand pillars and sending the Bombchu on them. It's a more engaging projectile than most and it ties in to the puzzle themes of Zelda
Thanks, glad you like the idea! I love when Smash moves synergize like that, so the Bombchu seemed like a perfect fit to work in tandem with the Sand Wand.
I'd give Link his Paraglider as up-B and make Toon Links up-B travel more horizontally without mashing, but vertically with mashing. He'd also be able to move during this attack if it's started at the ground. I'd give the Bombchus the property of exploding faster if Toon Link doesn't throw them, to make bomb recovery easier. I love how you implemented the Graplinghook and Skull-Hammer
This is great and like you said lots of ways to rework his kit. I’d definitely implement the Minish Cap into his moves and add Vaati to the roster of course!
Thanks for watching! The Gust Jar was an item that I was particularly fond of when playing through Minish Cap and it seemed like a natural fit for a neutral special!
A moveset that I create some time ago for Toon link: Up b - he uses the Sand Wand to make a Pillar to impulse him up Side B - He uses the spirit train and act like Wario bike Down b - he swings the Skull Hammer backward to gain momentum to swing forward. B - He uses the cane of Pacci, its a projectil that reflect moves and characters (like Mario Cape) Grab - He uses the gust jar to suck up opponents and projectils. His pummel os the Mole Mitts, DThrow he dig a role and buries opponents who have a high percentage, BackThrow he do the roll combo from WW, UpThrow he throws the opponent up and gains momentum with the Deku Leaf (he does this in Hyrule Warriors) and his Fthrow is the Spin Attack. His doble jump animation uses the roc's cap Fsmash is the Sling shot from FSA, with a quick charge he shoots a seed (lvl1) and if you hold the button longer he shoots 3 seeds in front of you (lvl2) DSmash he uses his shovel to dig up dirt and throw backward (sometimes he dig up a rupee or a magic shell) UpSmash he uses the Sand Wand to create a sand pillar (the longer you hold the button, the bigger the pillar will be) His jabs work like Robin's jabs, works like Robin's jabs, he takes the flame lantern out of his pocket and if you press A again he makes a flame and for Rapid Jab he swings swings the sworld like crazy (like his taunt). Dash attack he uses the chain chomp (from Four Sworlds Adventures, BowWow/Chain Chomp pull Links forward) or the dash attack from Minish Cap. Dtilt is a stomp using Iron Boots, Uptilt is a sworld Swing upward and FTilt is fire rod (he do a little foward swing (that have a hit box) and shoots a litle fire ball) Dair he puts on the iron boots and falls quickly, if you quickly press the jump button he takes the boots off and they serve as downward projectiles (this trick consumes one of his jumps) FAir he shoots a gust of Air from the whirlwind and can be used to gain backward Momentum UpAir he briefly throws the boomerang upwards and brings the opponent towards him. Bair he stab backward Nair he opens the deku leaf (like MrG&W parachute) and briefly glide. His taunt are taking a Photo with Deluxe Picto Box, checking the surroundings with the Telescope and getting a new item, where he makes a pose like in the games and can be Rupees of various colors or a heart container. If he use his Final Smash versus one to four opponent, the FS is Four Sword. He splits into four and attack the fighter. If is used from 5 ou more opponent, the FS is Tetra Barrage. He summons the Red Lion and make a wave that transports the fighters to Great Sea and Tetra make a Cannon Barrage on the foes in the water.
An idea I had for Toon Link was that the Spin Attack would be the Down Smash, as it already has a quick input (spin and attack) and can be charged as a good multihitting AoE
Great video FOBB I like the incorporation of all his games! Would be cool to see taunts from his other games too like the spirit flute or ezlo appearing :D
I think the up special should still be the spin thing, since Link can learn the Great Hurricane Spin in The Wind Waker, but it would be cool if he could use the Deku leaf to glide for a bit afterwards.
I’d love to know your ideas for the taints cause I feel 2/3 of them are really bad, while the Wind Waker one is just okay. I’d have liked drinking potion/soup instead of the fairy, playing the Spirit Flute and maybe keep the Wind Waker but I’d instead make his hat turn into Ezlo for a second as a nod to Minish Cap (it could’ve even been an idle animation)
I love the idea of bringing Ezlo in as a taunt, Minish cap just deserves so much more representation in general! I also think a taunt with Ghost Zelda from Spirit Tracks would be a fun idea.
@@megapokesonicx I'd just like more reference to Toon Link from Wind Waker or otherwise. Best we got was a rehashed taunt (fairy), a dumb sword flail that never happened in a game (if you wanted expressive you could do so much more), and a wind waker reference which is fine ig
Well, I kinda have the feeling that making a Link too different from the others feels kinda odd, Ibcan understand if Ganondorf becomes less a Captain Falcon Copy, but I wouldn't change Toon Link just because he is too similar to the others. same goes for doctor Mario and similar chas
That's fair, with this series I'm just exploring possibilities for how these characters could be if they all had unique movesets. I've actually made one of these for Young Link and may be working on a little something for Ganondorf as well 👀
Haha yeah, good catch - halfway through editing I realised that all the music I'd used at that point was from Toon Link's games so I decided to keep that trend going throughout the whole video 👌
I kinda want to see you do a new moveset for Snake. His moveset is a bit too.... explosive. Plus, Snake has a gun holstered to his hip, yet he never uses it.
I don’t get it. Everyone goes “we need to differentiate the three Links!” Then proceed to give Link the Paraglider, Toon Link the Deku Leaf, and Young Link his Deku Mask where he glides down with flowers.
@@Fobb I would also like to see an alt with ezlo being in it. Not just as a taunt (as some comments suggested) but more as an alt. But that's just my opinion.
For his Alt costumes I would make some of them have Ezlo as his hat. I'd also make his Red and Blue alts have matching hair like in Triforce Heroes. And I would want to make his downfall alt (Darker hair and yellow band) look as much like his ALBW design
I'd prefer if the red and blue alts didn't have the ugly same color hair... they still had yellow hair in Four Swords so I think it should stay that way. Plus, they wouldn't go changing the green one to have green hair, so it would be weird having those two change hair color while none of the others do.
It's weird they ONLY based Toon Link off Wind Waker, when he has Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, Minish Cap and Four Swords games to work with. For an asthetic purpose add Ezlo as his hat for Minish Cap rep. Add Deku leaf as either a battle entrance or up special. Give him the Lokomo Sword from Spirit Tracks with the Shield of Antiquity. I get that Bow, Bombs and Boomerang are all iconic part of Link's kit and should at least keep one, I don't think all three Links need all of them. Instead of Boomerang for Side special give him Whirl Wind from Spirit Tracks (or Roc's Cape from Minish Cap) Up special can be Deku Leaf, neutral B is Bow and Down B Bombs (or if not Bombs add Sand Wand). And instead of every smash attack being a sword swing, why not add the Hammer as a F-smash? And replace Hookshot for Grapple Hook which is from both WW and PH? (It would also differentiae the Link's in that BOTW Link has a normal grab, Young Link has Hookshot and Toon Link has grapple hook) the Skull hammer could be a D-air spike. Toon Link's final smash should be The Phantom Hourglass itself where he stops time to delivery devestating blows. For a cute effect give him the Pegasus Boots from MC which helps showcase his agile nature. Also his taunts could differ between different elements of each game. Up = Wind Waker, Side = Spirt Flute, Down = Poses with Ezlo and victory screens could be hopping off the King of Red Lions, plays the Wind waker or keeps the pose where he chases a pig. For costume alts, add his Engineer uniform from ST, the Blue, Red and Purple from FS, his outset island clothes from WW
i would love to see the cane of pacci with a tripping effect. maybe nair or fspecial. Dspecial would be remote bomb. grab could be the wip. the rest is 100% agree
I feel like what this is missing is a unifying vision for it overall. If you're turning Toon Link into something other than "Link but Cartoony", I don't think just squeezing references to unique equipment from the Toon games is enough, I think you'd need to reinvent him with a theme in mind. For example, I think the Gust Jar and Deku Leaf ideas you have could be part of a moveset focused entirely around the character's role as Hero of Winds. Emphasize the fact that he's floaty with complementary moves. I'm imagining the Wind Waker being his Down B and functioning sort of like ROA Wrastor's Forward Special, but I'm imagining that after inputting Down Special to withdraw the Wind Waker you'd need to then point your wind-channel in a direction, giving you the option to have a tailwind towards your opponent, or to give yourself more vertical control with an upwards-facing current that lets his floaty kit stretch. And I think keeping the Side B Boomerang is probably the best move after that, since it has the most potential of his existing projectiles for interacting with the wind currents and blasts his other specials throw out. As for his neutrals, I think his aerials need some stall-moves, maybe instead of the skull hammer his fair could have him hold his sword straight out for a time, think sex kick but sword. I also think, if we're removing the spin attack from Up B, it might make a good up or even neutral air? As well as possible putting the Hurricane Spin on Down Smash tbh.
Thanks, I really appreciate your feedback! It's been a while since I made this moveset, but on reflection I can definitely agree with you (love the whole idea of being able to control the direction of the wind especially). Perhaps the Whirlwind item from Spirit Tracks could also serve to bolster the Wind Theme, although I feel like it'd be difficult to set that apart from the Gust Jar.
My ideas to declone Toon Link are these. I don't ask so much, actually. -Neutral Attack's thrid strike is an upwards slash instead of a thrust. -Dash Attack is a thrust, similar to Link's attack in Super Mario Maker 2. -Forward Smash is just like your idea, a hit with the Skull Hammer. -For his Down Throw he stomps the opponent with the Iron Boots. -His Neutral B is Hero's Bow, Boomerang or Bomb, you can change them freely with his Down B. -Spin Attack is now his Side B and you can move him horizontally, just like in The Wind Waker. -Deku Leaf as his Up B. -His Final Smash includes a cutscene. Toon Link hits the opponent with the Skull Hammer. If hits, the opponent will fall in the sea, Toon Link appears on the King of Red Lions, he uses the Wind Waker to play the Ballad of Gales and the cyclone blows the opponent away.
This might cause controversy, but I personally think Young and Toon Link shouldn't be fighters at all. We really only need one Link, and that's it, but if they are gonna keep Young and Toon, they do at least need to deviate from the stupid bow, boomerang, spin attack, and bomb setup

I've always hated how generic Toon Link's moveset was, this one would be a lot more fun to play.
Yeah, it's a shame - I kinda wish his kit was updated in Sm4sh or Ultimate since there's a lot of scope for a unique moveset here
this series is awesome and I love how unique you make everyone. i'd love to see more
Thanks, glad you're enjoying it! I've got another episode in the works now, but it might be a while until it's ready 👌
This is great and like you said lots of ways to rework his kit. I’d definitely implement the Minish Cap into his moves and add Vaati to the roster of course!
Lovely presentation! The Hero of Winds deserves much better than what he got in Smash
Thanks! He definitely does, the same can be said for the Hero of Time as well
I like the diversity here, friend. You've struck a good balance here! Haha, I like the idea of incorporating the gust jar into his moveset, too! 🎉

I think they should add the snake whip for his tether instead. Maybe even have the grapple hook as his aerial tether! To have both!
Oh for sure, that'd be neat! More Spirit Tracks representation is always cool 👌
You've done the links. Now it's time for the big bully himself... Ganondorf (or captain falcon either works)
