    Sounds so awesome. I think it's really cool that a bus like this was still running in 2003 with an 8V71N!

    Rare for the 96a and 102 models to have the 8v71. The 6v92 was pretty standard by that time for these two models, and then 8v71 was slowly phased out being briefly replaced with 8v92.

    I rode one of the Academy 96A3s twice when Fantasy Trailways (or tourways) of somewhere in Nassau County, Long Island had it running Long Island Rail Road shuttles from Ronkonkoma to Greenport, Huntington to Port Jefferson and then from Sayville to Montauk in 2009. It sure as hell had power written all over it, despite its raggedy condition it was in....not to mention LOUD!

    Academy have one of the mci 96a3 witch they have a 8v71 Detroit diesel engine with the ht 740 Allison automatic transmission it was a couple of years ago now there's nothing but dd series 50 or 60 engines caterpillar diesels and the Cummins diesel engines running around they're good for the environment but boring

    I believe JGT down in South Dade still has some 102A3's and C3's still around .The buses are use on charter runs and Im sure theres more out here i just haven't gotten a chance go check around do to my job hours and on my days off between the heat and humdity ,back pain and been tired from work i bearly go out anymore unless is a cool day or im on vacation.Lol Im getting old man miss the energy i used to have a few years ago when i would live work and go bus fanning the whole day and night
