Absolutely beautiful...for someone who believes he is an inexperienced gardener you do a wonderful work. I believe you need a creative side to do a stunning garden, and you sir have a creative side. Great job. Even though its only a computer screen it brighens my day to see your garden... Thank you from Ottawa, Canada.

I am so envious, I try to make my gardens look like this using plants that will not only live but thrive here in Phoenix. With the help of trees and 9’ umbrellas and living with a hose in my hand, it can happen. So what if I have to take one shower a month ( just kidding ) I gave up a pool, so I could use that water usage for my ponds and garden.

Is there any way you can open that back fence up to go around to your back yard garden? That would be exciting.

I love the fact that you plant what you love and are not a huge planner! I garden just like you do. If the plant speaks to me, I will find a place for it! Let us distinguish that there is a huge difference between a landscaper and a gardener. Investing in Encore azaleas would be a good choice for you because they bloom 2-3 times a year and you would have color in that area throughout the summer and into the fall. The one that you chose is only a spring bloomer.

I think the encore azaleas are only good to zone six so it would be a gamble to plant in zone 6a. I am in six as well in mid Missouri and I’ve lost both that I tried.

I got a berry white last year and I love it. It is definitely a fast grower. And the stems stay really strong so the blooms do not droop very much at all with a heavy rain.

Love it! I garden the same way, and my gardens evolve as I get inspired. I move plants around a lot. Love that little area, and I covet your driftwood.
Would you consider removing the Purple Pride Beauty berry and putting in something with a different texture and/or a different color? To my eye, it looks very much the same as what is surrounding it, so if you planted something to echo your Bloodgood and heucheras, or something yellow, chartreuse, or blue it would break up that sameness and carry your color around.

Btw, I’m enjoying watching your channel as I get to take a break from the 100+ degree temps plus we’re having for about a week. 😮You remind me so much of myself in my earlier garden. When I decide to move (transplant) an established plant or have my husband move it to a new (better) home, it’s so gratifying. Fyi: I am in zone 9B (H-Town Houston), so if I can transplant a plant in the middle of summer and it last surely you can in Kansas. Just be sure to water it often, ev., 3-4 days for about a good two weeks and then twice a week for about another two weeks before putting on a regular schedule BUT FIRST, give all your new plantings some fish emulsion as a good root stimulator. “By chance gardening” allows our creativity to soar. Happy gardening.
