    Michael Jordan intuitively figured what most military veterans learn. If you go to War in practice everyday - fight like you train, train like you fight - then when you actually go to war, then it’s just a normal Tuesday somewhere else.

    "Men were different back then" funny story, my best friend to this day when I first met him didn't even know his name, I punched him in the face and from that moment we were the best of friends. Every one to the letter said "He was hard in practice, but it made the games easier" 40 years old, a 6x champion and STILL was driven to play every game and every practice. One thing I don't think gets enough praise with MJ is he never handled his issues publicly I don't know if I have ever heard Jordan say "check my stats" or "We had a bunch of minimum guys" Jordan always held himself accountable above everyone else. I have never heard him at a press conference say "Well we could've won tonight but ya know Scottie had a little headache or whatever"

    More than anyone else, I think BJ really understood Michael and what he cared about. Jordan griped about basics… correct defensive stance, correct hand in the passing lane, hustle on rebounds, memorizing every play, and here’s something a family member told me that was a photographer in Chicago… Jordan got upset frequently when you didn’t know or read the dossier of opposing teams.
    “Such-and-such is left handed! Why are you going to the right Muthaf-ka!!!?”

    • @TheRealMindCrime

      @@TheRealMindCrime True! BJ also has the best descriptions of MJ. My favorite is this: “Everyone in professional sports has a style. A certain way of shooting, a way holding the ball, a specific batting stance or jumper… Michael Jordan does not have a ‘Michael Jordan style’ of anything. Everything you see in him comes directly from the fundamentals, just mastered at the highest level. Open a basketball textbook, look at the illustrations - that’s Michael Jordan.”

    Two things.
    I love Randy Brown. Talk about a dude who appreciated where his NBA success came from by hugging Jordan after games and especially the Finals (Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals where Jordan valiantly performed like Superman would perform if he was ravaged by Kryptonite poisoning). I admit this I CRIED. Not because the Bulls won under adverse conditions...but because Jordan at that moment performed like a SUPERHERO....and this almost 30 year old (at that time) morphed into a kid who loves superheroes.
    2. Luc freaking Longley.....I lost count on how many times I wanted to throw my stinky socks at the TV screen every time Longley underperformed. Even in games where he had the physical advantage he would score in single digits.

    There is no single greatest way to lead, just as there is no single greatest way to teach or parent. Each leader has their own unique set of leadership skills, although many overlap with other great leaders.
    As someone who has lead & manage teams in the military & civilian sector, in sports, & in the classroom, I can say with absolute certainty that people be BS'ing sometimes lol. I've had to have push numerous people throughout the years to reach greatness just as people had to pour into & push me. Sometimes it just clicks when you're surrounded by like-minded & abled people. Other times it's a constant struggle dealing with egos, laziness, etc. At the end of the day, Jordan uplifted the Bulls (through the help of others of course) and they became 6x NBA Champions. Most players are lucky to win ONCE, but the Bulls did so SIX times...three times consecutively on two different occassions at that, which is an incredibly difficuly feat!

    In basketball, some guys are good and just want the uniform and the check... Luc Longley was a very talented big man, with a mid range jumpshot and he could pass. Watch him play at Utah in college.
    But, when he got to the nba he got paid and got fat... and the Bulls took a chance on him. Luc Longley admits he didn’t love basketball. So, Michael Jordan to get players like that, who just play for the money, to care and focus more in winning is astounding. The league is full of guys like that now. They have the money and just want to play when they want to play. Mike was a motivator.

    • @jasonnelson6624
      @jasonnelson6624 Месяц назад

      Why do Jordan fans love to pretend Jordan didn't have strong good teammates? He played with multiple guys who were all stars not just Pippen. He had multiple hof teammates. Yes parish played with a bunch of all stars he played with 6, compared to Jordan who played with 4. More if you count players like Rodman who were former all stars. 6-4 isnt that bad when you look at how many years parish played. But this ideas of Jordan didnt have help or even good help just isnt true. If he didn't he would have never won. I agree his help didnt really help a whole lot in the playoffs but obviously it was enough to still win. Lastly using all star appearances is a poor way to evaluate anything. Jordan was a 14 times all star but he really only should have been maybe 11. Which is still excellent.

      @jasonnelson6624 Месяц назад +1

      The narrative about how awful of a teammate he was has merit. His leadership or style was the same as another notorious bad teammate Oscar Robertson. Jordan would ruin confidence and just destroy some teammates. Sure a person can say he only did it to the weak ones or whatever. I get it fans only care about the results. Phil deserves so much of the credit and or blame. Since he will play mind games he would use players like pippen to come in and be the nice guy to calm down upset players. At the end of the day I agree with you that he shouldnt be seen as the worst but I also think there are way to many also pushing the idea he was a great leader. He was an asshole who only cared about his success he wasn't trying to improve anyone. He wanted them to play their best so he could win. He wasn't trying to teach them or show them any moves. He showed kobe as he saw himself in kobe. I do also believe if I'm the one who saves us when it counts then you can't bitch. Which no one can dispute in the playoffs it was him and not the others. Hes still an asshole but he is a respectful asshole to the former players so I respect that.

    The reason MJ rarely suffered any ankle injuries was from working out with his trainer Tim Grover. Grover was driving a limo after he graduated from college with kinseology degree. He based his work on fixing the issues that MJ most commonly had which one was sprained ankles. Grovers precise workouts ensure MJs body from foot to head was conditioned flexible and recoverable. Tim Grover has a book of workouts that I recommend any athlete who wants to play college hoops should definitely read and apply so you can reach your maximum potential.

But, every thing in the media was always about him not winning rings. So, ai understand how amd why he was soo hard on his teammates. Hos mindset was okay, I'm the best in the game now, but I need my teammates to win championships like Bird and Magic... and it worked. Ain't no way Mcdonald's would be enough energy (nor would it be healthy to eat all the time for that matter) to sustain my legs.

    It's crazy how McDonald's were a part of our meals as athletes back then. After practice everybody hit McDonald's. Somehow I still was 6'1 180 and 1% body fat. We laugh today about how we ate like that and never gained weight.

    What would you prefer a guy that works so hard and has earnt the respect, takes accountability, not blaming for losing. A guy that will say to your face behind the scenes who can see your weakness and push you to work harder and get better and be mentally ready for big games and be a part of winning. Or someone who is nice and secretly talking sh*** behind your back to get you traded or throw you under the bus on podcast or media.

    For health purposes the McDonald's stuff is terrible for you with everything they put in the food. But it does contain a ton of easy calories as well as protein which you need as an athlete. Some guys claim they lose some energy and bounce when they cut out junkfood and eat clean. And that's because it's so hard as a high level athlete to get enough calories in.

    Id love someone to explain how Lebron always has you playing under the threat of trade as he handpicks his teammates receives praise for making those around him better whilst Jordan treats every practice session like game 7, forcing you to bring the best version of yourself every single day apparently didn’t make his teammates better players

    The friends I went to grade school with turned out to be 4 of the best athlete's in Basketball and Football , our grade school basketball team was so good in 6th grade we won every game by +30 points. The starters would run up the score so badly that the second string (me) by the end of the year we had more playing time then all of the starters , on top of that we had the MJ of coaches , he pushed us so hard in practice that I was able to play well enough along with like 3 others on the second string that were able to still hold the leads , I was someone that I know without I would have been full trash , because we put the practice in and bought in , at the end the league only had one team trophy so our Coach went out and got each player a way better one plus , MVP , best defender , Etc. ones with a pool party at his house ( he was a father of a player) ,
    sorry but yeah , he use to bench his own kid who was the best player but he would mess around in practice and in games (like running up the score and trash talking) , again that was another reason why I ended up with the most minutes since he would send me in because I was best friends with his son and we all knew he was way better then me but yeah , that was the type a Coach he was.

      hmmm....if I'm a new owner my first goal is to find a great player to build around. Then I focus on the right coach for that player. Then I find a GM who understand my vision and we begin building. It would be a 5 year process so the star would probably have to be someone we draft

Then, Stacey King showed up 100lbs heavier than he was at OU 😂😂😂 Stacey King must cry every night for wasting all that talent. But, he was one of those guys who literally ate himself out of the league.

He would be able to do what he did in college at New Mexico. People forget he was a point forward like a Larry Bird type player 😂😂 Then he put on 900 lbs and could only be a post player.

Lmfao 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 like his 16ppg made that much difference like if any other roll player couldn't have scored that, the Chicago Bulls proved on several occasions that he didn't make that big of a difference like when he had back surgery and his migraine headaches Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls did just fine without him!! Cartwright never liked Michael, threatened to break his legs if he ever tried some shit on him again. Bill is one of those hard asses that wont respond well to another hard ass. He loved Pippen and called him a great leader and YET Pip was the selfish one who pouted and left the game bc Phil drew up the last play for Kukoc and calls it racist. Pip is the one who taunted and tormented Krause over his own contract that HE selfishly signed bc he couldnt wait until the cap rose to get more money for less years. Pip is the one who selfishly sat out and got a surgery he didn't need and wanted to go on vacation and continue to complain about his contract HE signed. Pip is the one who got to Houston and instantly started beefing with Charles Barkley calling fat boy and never good enough to win a championship(hmm sounds like he's a wannabe MJ at that point?). Pip is the one now trying to make money off Mikes name and tarnishing their great history together. Pip is the one that is petty and says outlandish shit. Pip is the one who went broke. What kind of leader of men is that? Pippen had a role and that was role was to in a lot of ways play like a PG which means sharing the ball and that does not mean he's a great leader. It just means you'd rather play with someone who looks to pass more.
    Bill Cartwright doesn't have to like it, but Jordan leading by example in his way IS leadership. What would you call old school military leaders who led the same?
    Bill was so disappointed in Pip over the Kukoc situation b/c he was selfishly hoping in some way by helping Pip along the way, he could make Michael look bad by winning without him imo.

      He doesn’t win six rings without being a leader. Robert Parish is mad that he ended up going from an integral role in a Celtics dynasty to getting a free ring led by the man his old teams used to beat before he got adequate help. He needs to sit his 7 foot Nipsey Russell lookalike haircut having a** down somewhere.

    • @TheRealMindCrime
      @TheRealMindCrime  Месяц назад

      listen to all the stories. He led by example and led the charge to winning. Parish didn't like MJ because he was ready to retire and MJ was still balling out. Parish was great during his prime but by the time he played for the Bulls he barely played and it was obvious his career was over.
