It seems that the building/Container and the Garden are very far appart .... you may have it easyer if you plan your propperty smart ...water, sun, roads , view to or off the hills ...all that to observe and think off and plan well, will help to establish a very nice hacienda... wish you a wonderful start in that beautyful landscape. I have been in the outback prery of Cheyenne during a whole summer and returned years (30)ago back to germany ...and still think off the precious exciting experiences
From an old high country homestead gardener to a new high country homestead gardener…a little tip to save the garden. Build a hoop house, but rather than covering it with plastic, use 30% shade cloth. It will also cut the wind, which is hard on young plants up here in the high desert. You can build the hoop structure w/PVC or with chain link top rail, depending on your $ situation. If you go with top rail, there are hoop benders (I got mine from Johnny’s). Make sure you roll back the shade cloth at the end of the season or the snow will collapse the hoop frame. If you want to build a greenhouse to extend your season, get the peaked rail bender so it will shed the snow more easily. The shipping container looks fabulous! It’s insane how a seemingly simple problem takes so darn long. Half the time it seem like I’m missing or short screws/bolts/some little doodah that I have to run all the way into town for. Anyway, great job, love your adventures. Have fun learning how to tan!

Rust-oleum makes a rust converter and seal paint that you can just paint over the rust on the roof with. You can brush off the flakey stuff then paint and it's covered
Linnea I’m loving watching your homesteading. This is bringing back so many memories of my childhood. I used to help my grandmother do laundry by hand. I would catch the clothes as she fed them through a wringer - she had one attached to her wash basin. I was very young but I will always love the smell of boiled Castile soap she used for the laundry (it was a bar with a blue and white wrapper). And then the smell of towels dried on a laundry line, running through the towels on the line with the sun streaming through. So many simple pleasures it was pure bliss.
You still got it done! It seems like when you get your mind set on doing a project, you persuver until it us done as much as possible. Thanks, great job. It is beautiful!

Building a sloped roof over your container will provide you with lots of benefits. A layer of cooler air on hot days and insulation during cold spells. A possibility for rain catchment and prevention against standing water on the roof where mosquito's can breed. An extended awning for a shaded patio and a place to sit outside even with rain.
As soon as I heard the first ping, I knew it was going to be hail. What a storm, huh? I used to love being in the barn on those days. You learn quickly to put up things quickly and shelter from the storms.

No idea what I would do unless, there was a home with a big workshop and garden space. I wouldn't want to be inside a big metal box when lighting is happening. This looks like a pretty cool start. I love the colour too. Having run an ecotourism and research facility in the semi arid tropics of north western Australia, where most of the accommodation was in shipping containers, I'd suggest getting some poles in the ground around that container and putting and putting a sloped tin roof over it. Make it large enough to throw shade all around and it will make it far more comfortable to spend time in, protect the container from the elements and serve as a surface to catch lots of water and maybe mount some solar panels on.
I just love watching your videos! It literally brings me to tears sometimes because you’re real in real life situations on a day-to-day basis in this setting. I know you don’t show everything all the time but you don’t have to because I get it. I used to be so much like you and another girl I watch on RUclips or Facebook yall are so much the younger me but with so much more resilience and adventures that I never was able to do. For one I got married and had kids early on. It didn’t stop me from doing a lot of things, but I never could do the things that you guys do, that you do now. it’s just really close to my heart, and I take so much joy in watching your adventures. I still wanna do things I never was able to do but now I’m 61 stuck with a job and for dogs to take care of and now grandkids although I love them all I just won’t ever get to do many other things now, not in this lifetime anyway. But watching your videos, Warms my heart. Thank you..🥰

I’ve seen some cool and easy roof builds on top of shipping containers, to reduce hail noise and the heat from the sun blasting the top.

Awwww comforting the pups during the storm 🥰 Our old Lab would crawl in my lap during fireworks & thunder. Replacement dog doesn’t care - one of her good qualities. I love the color! Perfection! It would have taken me weeks to paint that.
