We're playing this in my orchestra and the 12 8 time is bothering me. 12 8 is supposed to be rather slow (unless I am wrong) and it's fast in this piece. When we sight read it for the first time it threw me for a loop.

Berrybop876 string instruments are not nearly as complex as wind instruments. Sure, you need fingerings to get a note, but embouchure is also important and plays a huge role, along with vibrato and how hard you blow. Wind instruments are more complex than holding a finger in a certain spot and using your other hand to move a bow back and forth
