  • Some cats like to play pretty rough. So, how can you tell if their tussles are fun playtime or unhappy conflicts? Fortunately, a recent study sheds some light on the subject. You can read the results here: www.nature.com/articles/s4159...

I like the towel idea. Very smart :)
2 cats can become quite vocal before they fight. Wake the whole neighborhood and set dogs off barking at night! Usually when I've arrived on scene, they just split up and bolt in different directions. Nothing like "Mommy thank you for saving me from that mean bully!" More like they didn't want to get caught fighting by the teacher. LOL
Cats play rough, though! They'll bite claw and bunny kick that would leave a human arm in shreds.
Thanks Tom! Enjoy all your helpful content! Will be adding a new kitten in a few months here.

I have 2 cats, one is a ragdoll and the other one is half Norwegian forest cat and half unknown. The Norwegian usually playfully attacks the smaller ragdoll, the ragdoll hisses and meows. I often intervene when this happens, but as soon as i come close they just stop without me saying anything.
Btw the smaller ragdoll sometimes playfully runs and jumps on the bigger Norwegian ragdoll which kickstarts this play but later the ragdoll may start hissing. No blood, only small bit of hair

Have you determined if this is play or fighting?

How do you fell about calming treats? I have one large cat that attracts the smaller cat. Very very loud noise from both. The calming treats definitely work, but is it ok to feed them often? Is the aggressor sick, a sign of something? Maybe a video on this?

The only ones I recommend are Composure treats for cats because two of the main ingredients are L-theanine and thiamine, both of which have proven track records. On the label, they recommend 1-2 a day but also state that you can double or triple that "in times of increased stress." Anxitane is another valid supplement, but they aren't really treats - more like hard tablets, though many cats like the taste.

How kind of you to respond, and so quickly. At times, he's crazy and attacks the other cat...at times he's just a very nice 1.5 year old. I will keep an eye out for those ingredients. Hopefully he grows out of this. I've had cats all my life, but never one so aggressive at times. Thank you. I like your station. You do a good job! Looking forward to more.@@KittyHelpDesk

Many indoor-only cats just need more activity. After all, they didn't evolve to live in a world with walls. Thanks for watching!
