3 Tactics To Increase Dopamine Levels

  • Dopamine is the molecule of the more, its what your brain releases for doing something that is rewarding, or perceived as rewarding.
    For example, if you’ve ever been gambling, and you’re waiting for the final card to be drawn in blackjack or poker, or you’re waiting for the slot machine to tell you whether you’re broke or rich.
    There is so much dopamine being released here, not just when you see the result, like if you got paid or not, but when you’re waiting in anticipation of the reward.
    Dopamine also gets released when you’re playing video games, watching social media, watching lewdy stuff on the internet, these intensely rewarding activities release so much dopamine, that we start to crave them. This is how addiction starts.
    But if we can learn to utilize dopamine, we can make boring activities feel as fun as video games, and the already interesting stuff like talking to your friends, eating food, playing sports feel fucking amazing.
    In this video, I’m gonna go over 3 tactics to master dopamine,(use 3 boxes sliding down), the last one uses a dark tactic, but it works GREAT.
    3 ways:
    1. Use intermittent fasting to increase dopamine
    1. I love to intermittent fast which means I don’t eat my first meal until later in the day. I’ll usually push it close to 4 pm most days and I get all my work done before that. I realized that in terms of dopamine, there’s a few reasons this works really well to keep me motivated. One, when you’re fasted, you have more dopamine, none of it got released for eating food, and you have more energy because none of it got wasted by digesting food. Some people will say if they skip breakfast they’ll be cranky and not be able to do anything, but that’s just because they’re so used to it. I promise if you eat breakfast every day, and then stopped for a few days, you would get over that crankiness and see yourself feel rewarded by the boring work because of all this extra dopamine. The other reason this works is because
    2. dopamine gets released in anticipation of a reward, so if you reward yourself at the end after the work task like for example breaking your fast, your brain will release more dopamine throughout the work session as it anticipated the reward at the end.
    2. Use new techniques to create novelty
    1. When I was learning how to edit using premiere pro, a video editing software, this method kept me coming back and learning more. Each time I opened the software to edit a new video, I would force myself to come up with a new concept or to look on youtube for a new technique to implement. When I finally learned the new thing and saw it in front of me in the software, like using a new effect or learning how to improve audio quality, I felt a rush of dopamine. Novelty is a huge motivator for humans because its how we got rewarded for finding new ways to get food and water in our tribal days.
    3. And the last way to master dopamine which no one really talks about online because they either don’t know about it, or think its too dark to use. Is to literally brainwash yourself to feel more rewarded by the actities you want to do more of
    1. I found this technique in a book from the 90’s called Awaken the Giant Within
    2. You basically tap into your worst fears and your biggest dreams in order to brainwash yourself to feel more rewarded from doing the activity.
    3. Let’s say for example you want to feel more pleasure and reward from reading non-fiction books.
    4. Write that at the top of your page, and then write physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, in relationships.
    5. You want to go through each category and write what you would lose if you didn’t do this activity. You want to exaggerate these answers until you feel an emotional response. This is the key to brainwashing yourself, to feel the emotions, because when you go and do that activity, your brain remembers how important this is for you through your emotions.
    So for reading non-fiction books, I would write, physically, I will learn more about my health and nutrition, I didn’t read these books, I will feel insecure, never able to take off my shirt, and always feel terrible on beaches or in the bedroom.
    Emotionally, I will feel stressed and anxious as I’m not learning enough to make my career take off
    Financially, I’ll be broke and living with my parents forever as my friends move ahead of me.
    I know this sounds extreme for just reading books, but it doesn’t matter, you can use this technique as long as you kind of believe it. Like it does make a bit of sense that if you didn’t read books, you would make less money right, and that could lead to your worst nightmares. Tap into those fears and write them out, you’ll find yourself to be much more rewarded and motivated, feeling more dopamine to do those things.
    Implement these 3 methods and you’ll master dopamine.
