  • In this video we will be talking about how to be authentic from the philosophy of Carl Jung. He found his own school of psychology, called analytical psychology and his philosophy is dubbed as “Jungian philosophy”.
    According to Carl Jung, in order to be authentic, it is crucial to face four of your archetypes in order to go through the individuation process. These are the
    01. Persona
    02. The shadow
    03. The anima or animus
    04. The self
    I hope you enjoyed watching the video and hope that this wisdom on being authentic from the philosophy of Carl Jung will be helpful in your life.
    Carl Jung, together with Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler, is one of the 3 founders of psychoanalysis which is a set of psychological theories and methods aiming to release repressed emotions and experiences - in other words, to make the unconscious conscious. Jung was born in Switzerland in 1875 and died in 1961, leaving behind great works in the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, psychology and religious studies. Jung had Freud as a mentor for a good part of his career but later he departed from him. This division was painful for Jung and it led him to found his own school of psychology, called analytical psychology as a comprehensive system separate from psychoanalysis. If classical psychoanalysis focuses on the patient’s past, as early experiences are very important in personality development, analytical psychology primarily focuses on the present, on mythology, folklore, and cultural experiences, to try to understand human consciousness. One of the most important ideas of analytical psychology which Jung founded is the process of individuation, which is the process of finding the self - something Jung considered an important task in human development. While he did not formulate a systematic philosophy, he is nonetheless considered a sophisticated philosopher - his school of thought dubbed “Jungian philosophy”. Its concepts can apply to many topics covered in the humanities and the social sciences. A good part of his work was published after his death and indeed there are still some articles written by him that to this day have yet to be published. Some of his most important books are: “Psychology of the Unconscious”, “Man and His Symbols”, “The Archetypes and The Collective Unconscious”, “Modern Man In Search of a Soul”, “The Psychology of the Transference”, “Memories, Dreams, Thoughts”, and “The Relations Between the Ego and the Unconscious”. Besides being a great writer and a researcher, he was also an artist, a craftsman and even a builder. His contribution is enormous and there is a great deal we can learn from his works.

      Light only shines where there is darkness.
      You never get one without the other. Good and bad, extroversion and introversion, love and hate, poverty and wealth, life and death. To repress one side of the equilibrium means to remove all meaning from its counterpart.
      Until at last, all is meaningless and empty.
      Because light only shines where there is darkness.

      @@Nicoladen1 So is being introverted a bad thing. You can't have ying without yang, men without women . Day without night. A car with just the back or front part, or a battery with only the positive end or only the negative end it just wouldn't work, the world is one, it encompasses everything. You wouldn't say there is the top half of a human, there is a right side of a human. When we say there is a car, there is a dog, there is a knife, there is a person etc , it's referring to the whole person, the whole dog, the whole knife, the whole car. But in some sense we have created a duality in the world in our thinking. I'm no expert and I don't claim to have any, real, special or unique insight into these things. I think we would actually have to have some deep insight, a direct experience of this reality, this truth, otherwise we are just intelectualising, just thinking about it on an intellectual level and this won't bring about any transformation, any real change

Jung had an affair with Sabina Spielrein (one of his patients), Sabina was psychotic when Jung met her, and she became a great psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. • @sethrenville798
      @sethrenville798 Год назад +15

      It's a good sentiment, but don't forget that duality is a necessary evil, in order to experience anything. After all, literally every quality we can possibly experience is, in and of itself, absolutely chalk full of dicotta means. Without the dichotomy of light and dark, we wouldn't be able to see comment without the dicodimit of love and fear, we wouldn't be able to have fulfilling relationships , without the dichotomy of Life-and-death, this existence would be significantly less meaningful, and without the economy of self versus other, the entire self actualization experience experience would be a given, and thus useless for the evolution of consciousness.
      I guess what I am trying to say is be aware that everyday Academy is simply different degrees of the whole that is everything: the Creator, the Unified Conscious Field, God, the Empyrian, Ein Soph, Brahman, or whatever you want to call it.
      Having said that, I Have an incredibly difficult time understanding why so many spiritual seekers aim to completely reunite with the creator, as obviously thexperience of unity isn't that fantastic, otherwise the creator would not continuously split itself and experience reality the way it is. Not to mention, that level of existence contains everything, and with no dichotomies with which to have experience, it is litearly both existence and non existence at the same time, which sounds pretty goddamn boring to me. Lol
      I think I will trust the most complex being in the universe and enjoy playing this game for as long as I can, and rather than trying to do a speed run, I am looking for all of the Easter eggs and glitches, Genuinely learning as much about this entire experience as I possibly can call my wife I am here, show that I cand eventually Start tweaking the rules, in order to more effectively enjoy this experience, integrate unconscious parts of myself and the perceived external reality, and do so whilst managing to keep from bringing the whole God damn simulation to a fiery, Apocalyptic crash.
      Then again call me maybe I am just more delusional than the average seeker, but something tells me that this is literally a game, absolutely the greatest and most immersive game ever created, and one that we are meant to take the reins of, and Experience exactly what we desire in any given moment, Because what else is there to do common within this Crazy holographic projection, that literally is being projected from nothingness, but nothingness viewed through the lens of the eternal "I AM", the omnipresent, silent observer; always there, always aware.

Mankind *should* dare to look deep within, but it should ALSO understand that more than the mere physical aspect of such Reflection is required for true, celestial enlightenment.

      "The truth" isn't always clear-cut. What we initially believe to be the "truth" isn't always the actual truth. We could very easily be lying to ourselves- sometimes based on the expectations that have been ingrained in us from the collective; sometimes based on our subconcious programming; sometimes based on our defense mechanisms, or the walls we build around ourselves that become second nature to us (..yet, not necessarily true to our nature).
      Some may argue that our perceptions are indicative of authenticity because our perceptions are our reality. I would argue that it's much more convoluted than that, in this case- and, most things really are complicated/complex. Some people tend to gravitate toward ideas that require a great level of discernment to differentiate between all different shades of grey.
      This is a video based on Jungian philosophy, dissecting the true ingenuity within the psyche, with emphases on the archetypes, layer by layer. With all due respect, a deeper style of analysis is always going to be more apt to complexity of thought.

      Nature Island has thus retained its all-natural simplicity and wholesome beauty. You can’t find Gucci here, or Polo (Barbados). It is pristine, secret, and UNSPOILED!
      The only people that come here either really, really love raw nature or they are just trying to escape the horrors of 21st century ‘civilization’.

If I let the birth child run things we would live on milk with Hershey's chocolate syrup. If I allowed the soldiers (protector and enforcer) to run things we'd already be in prison for murder. The warranty has expired on this meat suit and it is gradually wearing out. Collectively we are about 55 and not ready to be 72. We rarely look in a mirror because it doesn't look like any of us. Following the Individuation process, profound spiritual awakening occurs, provided a person is ready for it. The unconscious de-represses. This is when the real journey begins. So one never "gets rid of the unconscious" but much of the content of the unconscious are wounds and blocks incurred from living life in a soulless, dysfunctional society. We interject or "reverse project" the projections of others just as often as we project our own issues onto others. The complexes are unraveled and healed as one purges and integrates one's shadow. One then encounters the Self Center or the Divine Center. Personally, I know this center to be Divine. All human souls are Divine. And yes..at first one makes friends and gets to know the contents of the unconscious. If successful, one will become an authentic ego. But the unconscious does not stay intact as spiritual awakening unfolds. Spirit burns and purges anything and everything within that is inauthentic and untrue. Then and only then will the Soul Center come to the forefront of consciousness and rule the entire Being. An ego is not capable of carrying the energies and consciousness of the Soul until it experiences a death/rebirth process, which is extremely agonizing, takes decades, and is not for the faint at heart. This leads to Self Realization or Soul Realization...I call it Integration but people have also called it "salvation" or "enlightenment". Great video.

    From my limited understanding and from reading a few comments on this video it seems some people believe they can be or become fully authentic. That would mean that they always say and act exactly the way they really feel about things and people. Furthermore it implies they have become aware of and integrated all the individual and collective subconscious drives and inherited personality complexes present within them as well as the repressed shadow parts of themselves.
    I would like to point out that to my knowledge no human being has ever achieved this including Jung and it’s unlikely that anyone will ever do so. I say this to temper expectations with reality so the goal would be to become more authentic, integrated and self aware. Otherwise I suppose one may simply read about all this stuff and create a ‘authentic’ mask to wear.
    I can see how these ideas are helpful and the model could bring to light aspects of our psyche which are hidden. I find it limited in its application and misleading to strive to be totally authentic since there will likely always be part of us which is unconscious, in shadow, or unintegrated. I’m just writing this because I have met a teacher who believed they were integrated/shadowless/perfect/authentic and they left a trail of hurt and confused students. Through my investigation since I have learned that every human has a rotten side and life itself has an inescapable wrongness built into it at a fundamental level. That’s something to wrestle with but by facing it and accepting it we are less deluded about who we are, where we are what we are doing and why.

    The parts about the persona and shadow are great, but how to integrate the anima and animus is not simply a matter of recognizing/adopting the opposite masculine or feminine qualities. Jung considered the integration of the shadow the apprentice piece and that of the anima or animus “the masterpiece which not many can bring off.” It’s not mentioned in the video but one of his most important discoveries was “active imagination”, which is the way he found to enter in contact with the unconscious and make a conscious connection with the figures of the anima or animus. It can take years of practice, and it’s not easy to do or without risk.

    • @drebugsita

      Can you explain what he meant by "active imagination" and how to use it to integrate the self?

    • @dsophie
      @dsophie Год назад +2

      @@drebugsita Marie-Louise Von Franz defines it this way: "Active imagination is a certain way of meditating imaginatively, by which one may deliberately enter into contact with the unconscious and make a conscious connection with psychic phenomena." As to how to do it, there are many ways... Jung says "the ways of getting at these fantasies is individually different. For many people, it is easiest to write them; others visualize them."
      I personally prefer visual methods, like tracing a few lines with my eyes closed then making a drawing out of those lines, without having a goal or censoring what comes out. Then engage the image with words (by finding names for it, describing it, or writing down whatever associations comes to mind). You can probably do this with an existing image too. The point is to actively engage the ego with material from the unconscious and not just passively receive it. Someone who is already close to the unconscious should only do this with the proper guidance of a therapist.
      The Invisible Partners (John A. Sanford) has an appendix on active imagination that goes more into details. I like the explanation he has for why do it... that psychological analysis alone is not enough to heal the soul... something more must be done to establish "an ongoing relationship with the inner world out of which comes new life and through which eventually our conflicts may be resolved."

    Transcending the dual aspects of the inner self
    Understanding, loving and accepting the ego, or shadow self, are the keys and foundation for integrating, or blending, that aspect of the self with the higher self, or light self.. achieving THAT is how the self becomes ONE within itself, instead of dual opposing selves.. and THAT is when TRANSCENDENCE OF THE EGO AND DUALITY is accomplished, allowing the Self to experience a state that some call Nirvana. So just as our Source of Creation encompasses all spectrums of light and dark, so must we as well.
