Pride goes before the fall!
Robert's stubborn pride left him sonless AND wifeless
Finally a mom that would take her child over a man
You’re right FINALLY
I'm glad the son did what he did in not telling his father about his wealth . This way he could see the truth about his father still hating on him. Glad mom always believed in him Poor Robert cause of his stubborn ways he lost everything. Some people smdh
Glad OP got his mom out of that situation. I too would chose my children over everyone.
Too bad i had a mom that did not give a hoor about her children!
A hoot
Go after your dreams and if anyone, including parents, gets in the way, plow right past them; I tell people to quit worrying about me and mind their own business.
Robert needs major reality check
Serves Robert right that’s what he gets for demeaning his own son which little does he know is a millionaire
😊😊
Oh for Pete’s sake !!
“I haven’t heard from or seen you in two years but I didn’t know how upset you were. Your father berating you couldn’t be the reason.”
The lack of self awareness is stunning.
I wish he had gone ahead and honored his mean dad, he had the money and didn't have to Talk to his dad if he didn't want to.
I don't care how busy I am, there is no way I'd go 3 years without talking to my mother!
It's been said instead of climbing the corporate ladder OWN IT. Also when a company does layoffs you should really check and see how much in stock buy backs the CEOs received.
To be fair, Matthew was offering Robert his business opportunity as if he were peddling Amway or some other pyramid scheme. I would've flat out rejected that, too.
I think he was giving him rope to hang himself.
Yes, I was thinking the same thing. He didn't make it clear, and it did sound as if he was offering his father a chance to invest money in his company instead of offering to actually help his parents by giving them money or buying the house from them. It did sound rather sketchy. I would have been hesitant, too.
If my father shit all over me shortly after I said "hello," and then continued to trash talk me after that, I don't know that I would give him my best sales pitch, either.
@@BruinPhD2009 same.
@@BruinPhD2009 yeah part of him may have even been using it as a kind of reaction test. "Let's see if he'll listen or just immediately kick dirt all over things"
I Wish We Could See The Look On Robert's face If He Ever Did Learn The Truth!
Don't just assume that you know everything.
So Matthew was already successful at that meal where he and his dad fell out? How Mathew kept that to himself that day is either really impressive, or really stupid. Although I doubt his dad would have believed him even if he told him he'd already made his 1st million. And if his dad really cared, or really wanted to rub salt in his sons wounds if the company failed, he would have scoured every inch of every tech magazine he could find! The fact he didn't shows he didn't care, and that he doubted his son from the get, and that's just heartbreaking.
I am so glad his mum finally woke up and kicked that awful man, and dreadful father, to the kerb! The fact she's now living the high life in Matthew's penthouse is just the icing on the cake!
*curb. You're right though!
It just goes to show ya... When it comes to things always changing one way or another, you should learn to change with it no matter how hard it may be. Because being stubborn about it will get you nowhere. And it looks like Robert will have to learn that the hard way.
Too many commercials 😵💫
Me: *Listening*
Son: Hi dad
Dad: *Ad plays*
Me: Oh yeah, he really hates you.
Uh, here's a thought...some millionaires like to stay anonymous for the reason of not having people who did not support them in their dreams or hard work and people come out of the woodworks with their hand out.
I'd buy the family home before it went to auction so it would stay in the family. The memories would be priceless.
I have said it was such WASTE on father who have sweetheart wife and successful son!! ANY FATHER would DREAM and GRATEFUL HAVE IT! Also never realized how much family much important to him than his own workplace.. I hope he lived with regret for destory his own family apart due from his stupid PRIDE! I wishes mother live happily with son and his girlfriend Ember!
He needs to buy the house for his parents and show his dad he knew all along he would succeed. Even tho the father didn't believe in him. It helps his mom and shows up his dad like you man I have more money then you will ever have etc.
How sad for Robert
First🎉 yaaaaaay
Should've told the dad the name of the company. As well as send him a copy of the Forbes magazine with the article about him and his business.
I am not so on board with the way the son treated the father. Sure the father is a dinosaur, but the son already knew that.
Buy the house and let your folks live there, free of course. Go from there. Maybe hire your dad.
Internet has been around since the 80s/90s. I was using IRC in the mid 90s. I worked for internet providers. OP’s parents must be in their late 60s/early 70s. People in their 40s and 50s now pretty much made the net on what it is now
Anyone else wonder that Mom & Gf Ember, sound identical?
Ember sounds exactly like the mother ,the actress needs to learn how to do different accents .
I think she should go back to the Brits. The country accent is just, so, well.... Oedipus, y'all know?
OMG his girlfriend and mother are the same person. Someone forgot to change voices.
I think the father was just jealous because his son saw what a dead end job he was slaving away at was but too proud and stubborn to admit it and find another job that would appreciate him. That is pathetic. I'm glad the mother left that toxic marriage. 👍👍
maybe. offer to the share to his mom
Dad sees sons face on Forbes magazine. "Funny that looks a lot like my failure of a son. Strange he even has the same name. But there's no way that's my son. This gentleman is dressed way too nice and looks to good to be my failure of a son. It's just a coincidence that they share the same name." Dad would then laugh. Wife asked what he's laughing about and says that he saw a picture of a successful guy in Forbes that looked like Mathew. But there loser son will never be on it.
And then the father, heartbroken at the loss of his wife and loathing himself for his failures in his own career and his b parenting, took his life. His son realized too late that h e had hidden the truth about his company from his father, distorting his father's p we perception, and then had ruthlessly punished his father for that distorted perception. His heart ached at the thought of the joy they could have shared if he had been truthful about why he was dropping out of college. His heart also bled for his mother, who tried to stay cheerful but who pined for the husband who died hating himself.
He didn't ruthless punish his father at all. The father did nothing but assume he was broke and insulted the OP right out of the gate because OP didn't follow in his footsteps. It isn't the fault of the abused if the abuser kills themselves.
Why pay to be in forbes=== not the proper rich for sure
So buy the house anonymously that way you still have it after they pass away. And although I might do something to help my mom especially if she decided to get a divorce there is no way I would help my dad.
Why does one person need a house?
I'd have sent the father information about the company I owned; what it does, how it pays, future projections on earnings, and all of the happy fun stuff. Let Daddy dear see the facts, which he can read while eating crow and humble pie.
Kinda creepy to have the same voice be mom and gf.
This was disappointing. I’m usually on the side of the kid and somehow this story didn’t change that. I did feel a tiny bit bad for the dad. I can’t imagine life where I failed to stand by my son, in back of him when needed, or in front of him blocking whatever gets thrown at him. This son never tried to win over his dad. I’m not saying he should have, except, when he called his father to help, he never tried to win him over. Seriously, what did he expect out of their dialog of disappointments about each other? I have an almost endless supply of negative comments about the father and his failures of being a dad. But OP knew all of this before talking to him. OP never gave his father a chance to do anything but fail. And, OP’s mom had made her choice to be on her son’s side (lady, you were on your son’s side - that’s where each parent should have been anyway.). So when OP contacted his dad last time, OP knew he already has his mom and was ready to throw pop away. OP only spoke to his father that second time just so he could true fully say he did. The only way OP would have helped his pop was if the man groveled and begged, and that was not going to happen. With all my criticism of OP, OP was still much nicer than I would have been. The dad received better treatment than he deserved.
He said that 'since he was 6' his father had been working on him to join the company were he worked. I know what that kind of pressure is like. Frankly, it surprises me he offered to help at all.
I’m from the South and that accent is offensive
I don't think that was enough to disown his Dad. Yes he was a miserable old git, but so what. He didn't beat him, starve him, he was just set in his ways. Every time we did anything my Dad was always critical, big deal.
Why didnt you critisize him back
There is a difference between being critical and being critical by being bitter.
Parents invest everything into these kids going to college so when they drop out, it is reasonable tor the parents to be pissed, especially the one who paid the money. So Matthew decides to not disclose his success before he left then came back sounding like an MLM salesman. Seems to me that Matthew never gave his dad a chance to understand what was going on,
Parents don't always pay for college
Can you say jack a@@ lol
