  • We like to fit a few canoe camping trips every year so for our first time out for 2023, we decided to head to the New York State owned islands/first come, first serve campsites on Blue Mountain Lake. We stayed at site 3 on Long Island Saturday night and stayed on the South Bay of Raquette Lake Friday night. We had a great time and we would recommend adding canoe camping to your list of things to do this summer. Thanks for watching!

Josh and Kate you guys did such an amazing job! Not only were you informative but your attention to detail and thoroughness of the area, activities, great footage and descriptions makes you feel like your there. Beautiful photography ❤. You both have a very smooth consistency which never tires the listener.

That Raquette site is one heck of a find! I've camped in the area MANY times and have never seen this amazingly beautiful site!!!

Awesome video. I've been to Saranac and Grout Pond and I noticed that stump on Grout Pond immediately haha. I was at the same site in 2017 with my highschool buddies. I am trying out Waterbury Reservoir in Vermont this end of July. You can only boat in so I am excited for my first boat in experience

Haha that’s funny, that’s cool that you’ve been to the same spot. Did you go on your trip yet? I’ve also been wanting to checkout that reservoir. If not, have a good trip!

I am actually on my way home now from it. So we stayed at site 7 and the landing for the boat was absolutely atrocious. From blush hill launch to the site with my small electric trolling motor it was a 30 minute trip. A bit too long in our case since we were 5 with an inflatable boat. I would check out the other sites. Site 8 was nicer. The reservoir was nice with slightly murky warm water. The formal campground in the same reservoir was also very nice

Look into a teardrop/squaredorp trailer. I picked one up last year made by Hiker Trailer out of Indiana. Its a 5x8 and will pretty much go anywhere my 4Runner goes. Its also nice to leave at your camp site to save it while you go exploring.

I’ll have to look into those, that might be a good option for us.

If you get a truck camper it could be tough to carry the boats.

Do you recall the name of the campground you car-camped at? I'd love to take my son and camp at the same site! Great video...thanks.

It was Golden Beach campground on the South Bay of Raquette Lake. I think it was site 192 or 193 but I don’t remember specifically.
