This video brought back so many memories of vacations on the Island as I saw so many of our fav’s our kids JUST HAD to eat lunch at Lum)s at least once.
Rhonda Machado I believe he also owned the Firestone store in Valparaiso. My mom worked for him for several years in the early 60’s. When we moved home to NC, he came to visit. Very nice man.
Did some welding work for neighbors, so they gave me a coupon for 2 at the Sand Flea, 1:25. I took the cutest girl I knew; she was impressed. Fast forward 50+ years, We are still married. Thanks, Sand Flea! Thanks, Gareth!
This almost brought tears to my eyes. Although most was before my / our time there, it was still sentimental and the music was a great choice for this "Show". Although "National Lampoons Vacation" made the song famous, (Who sings this version? Very fitting. Thanks Gareth.
@weasledikies - Thanks for the feedback! I guess that was my intent. All of those photos can be viewed (at your own pace) in the Facebook group "Fort Walton Beach: What We Did"
Hey, I dunno if any one can help me with this, but I remember there use to be a Drive thru/ Car-hop on Mary Esther Blvd that was replaced by a Sonic. I ate there as a young kid (talking like 6 or 7) back in the early 90s. The most significant thing I remember about this place was that it had two Cherries as the logo. My mom swears it was always a sonic. But I don't know, and I use to just call it Cherries because of the logo (And because I was a silly little kid.) Course I could be just crazy and this is all just a weird dream or a little kids imagination. But if any one remembers I would very much appreciate it.
I'm a Perri. Thank you for this video. I'm so proud of my grandfathers restaurant. Seeing it in this video brought tears to my eyes.
Loved this!! What a Memory Flash for me.....must share with folks who are not in Facebook. Excellent job, @ Gareth Stearns.

Thanks Gareth.
I worked at The Sound and Liolios when I was a teenager.
Loved the video makes me homesick. Please can you tell me the name of that revolving restaurant? Long gone now, but what a great memory.

Haven't thought of LUMS "Hotdogs steamed in beer" in about 45 years. Was looking for Pandora's Wreck but maybe it slid passed me. So long ago.
