Marcus Borg is almost single handedly responsible for me being able to return to Christianity. I was introduced to him in the mid 1990’s and through gentle teaching and rock solid scholarship, he has helped me find a faith that is real and relevant.
Perhaps the single greatest obstacle for many American Christians in understanding the deeply political implications of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection is their inability to understand and relate to Empire. Why? Because we belong to Empire. To take Borg seriously is to understand that following Jesus calls us to challenge the ways of Empire.

Extremely well said. I've had a similar experience, though for me it was more Crossan and Rohr along with Borg.

Chris Ames Yes to Rohr! I’ve been following him since the early 1990s. Crossan’s more recent work on resurrection has been so helpful!

God is a metaphor for a mystery that is beyond all categories of human thought.

Borg makes some insightful comments, and certainly worth lots of consideration. I especially appreciate the Christology - that is, the more-than-literal meaning of the text.
The only reservation I might offer is the question he raises about the literal resurrection of Jesus. No, I am not obsessed with the corpse in philosophy, but understanding what that framework of theology makes out of texts which testify to the resurrection of Jesus in non-parabolic, literal ways (I am thinking about 1 Corinthians 15:12-26, etc).
    God Bless Y'all

All the events of Jesus' last week, point by point, verse after verse, have being unveiled in a book called, Me Against the Religious World on the Sign of Jonah by CemirTorres, this book contains every single mystery in regard of the three days and three nights that Jesus was under the heart of the earth, everything cronologically put together using Jewish rekoning which is God's time, no contradictions or ignoring verses, Amazon has it, paperback or kindle online, Shalom.
