Just bought this nvme enclosure and the pad makes perfect contact with the enclosure. So much i had to hold it down for it to go in with the inner cradle. I did some test with and without the thermal pad and without it jump right up to 60 celcius and at the end of the test it was 70. With the thermal pad it never goes above 50 celcius.
i just bought this enclosure, besides it being hot do you also get speeds slower than spec? at most i've ever reached 4.8/8 gbps RW (600/1000 mb/s). WAY lower than the 10gbps spec. Windows reports USB 3.2 Gen 2 so it should be capable.
It’s not a good enclosure overall. You can see in my testing that it works like an oven and bakes the nvme inside. There is no contact so it’s basically an oven. See how much better the sabrent performed in the same test. For short reads it’ll be fine, but remember; a lot of RUclipsrs are sponsored by ugreen. Bias is common on this platform
@@TechGuyBeau just focusing on the product. On my use-case, it works fine and is not extremely hot. Enclosure dissipates heat well. Hope you do find one that auits your use-case.
Mine def touches and cooks the whole metal enclosure which is whats wanted gotta admit that other one is significantly better also mine puts soo much pressure on the outside that it unplugs the ssd everytime i open it which is a pain im thinking about picking up the other one in the video though thanks!
99% of these enclosures have really gimmicky thermal solutions, most don't make propper contact with the metal case, they just trap heat inside. Thanks for the review! Question: what is the LED behavior? Does it turn off in when iddle? Does it blink when reading and writing?
I am finding the same thing I bought to connect to my android media player but might not now. speeds are all over the place to. I might just put the mve in my PC as have 2 spare slots. Lucky I also ordered a 4tb wd USB HDD so prob use this as its USB 3
Thank you for the review. I was about to buy two of the Ugreen because it is a known brad. But when i looked closer i noticed how big it is compared to other less known brands i have no clue is trustworthy. The larger size would be ok if there was a reason for it, but it seems not. I fkn hate things that has useless "stylish" plastic/rubber protection on top of it. The rubber crap can only be good for making the device hotter than it needs to be. The Ugreen device is not expensive on my swedish Amazon but the Sabrent costs twice as much. So i bought one with a odd brand name because it seems to have the same form factor as the Sabrent but at the same price as the Ugreen.
What brand NVMe M.2 enclosures would you recommend. I'd want to get a 40Gbps model to future proof, but they are pricey. So will probably instead try and just get a 20Gbps one.
You are right about the thermal pad not making contact with the chassis. So many models are just pushed out without any proper testing. It is a really cheap stupid game out there, honestly customers are made into real suckers. Hard to find genuine RUclips reviewers like you too. Great job.
I have the newest revision that comes with black metal chasis which has thicker thermal pad and it makes proper contact. The chasis is hotter than asphalt in new mexico.
Yeah 2230 might push through Laur power demand. Plus it’s a physically smaller drive, I’ve also heard that you Greene might be in the process of, or already have revised this unit due to heat. So perhaps you have one of the later revisions

My thermal pad does make contact with the enclosure. You need to peel the plastic.
@@geniussidona The pad touches with the enclosure so much that I can't remove pull the inner cradle out. Hope it works good for you.
It doesn’t touch

You can also put several layers of thermal pad upon each other.
Yeah but then sliding it in is silly, it should just clamp from top to bottom.
Many thanks for this review and test .... Unfortunately I bought the ugreen before I watched your video test comparaison 😭
I’ve heard they revised it. So the version 2 might cool better m. Hopefully that’s what you got :)
Yes indeed have the new V2 version ... Hope so ... Thank you mate

There is an Acasis one I’ve reviewed on my channel. That one is superb
Thank you for the review! This stopped me from buying the Ugreen one. Would be nice if the Sabrent was linked though.
Added links in the description for you.
@@TechGuyBeau Thanks!
You really care about 8 celcius degrees, but not about difference in transfer? 300+mb/s vs 22mb/s?
LOL its tru, the creator of the video is really stupid 🤣🤣🤣
Was about to comment this!

CAn you please review ORICO SSD enclosure?

Thanks yeah I wanted to like it, but it was just poorly designed
Do you recommend the Sabrent one or are there something better?
I’ve been using the sabrent one for at least four years without issue.
HOW HARD WAS IT TO GET YOUR SSD IN SLOT ? IM HAVING TROUBLE AND DONT WANT TO DAMAGE MY NEW SSD.
Does anyone know what USB-NVME chip this uses? RTL-9210 ?? JMS583 ?? other? Thanx

Good good. It wouldn’t take much for them to fix this model i have. The lack of contact made it useless
What is the maximum ssd capacity for both? 4TB or 8TB?
I think 4 based on the specs but I’ve never owned a 8th to test

I have that, it isn’t that warm tbh, but then again I’m using a 2230ssd
